I've gone through quite a few headsets, which I typically use to play CoD on Xbox One. Overall, I'd give this headset an 8 out of 10. In sum, I think "gets the job done" is an accurate description for these. PROS: (1) cord seems to be sturdy as it is wrapped in some sort of braided material--in my experience, these last longer than other wired coverings, such as rubber; (2) sound output is decent; (3) coverings on the earpieces are comfortable, even for extended use. When I put these on I could immediately notice the superior sound quality compared to my older Turtle Beaches (the XO Ones). Footsteps, gunfire, and environmental noises were all crisper. Very comfortable and sturdy headphones. My only complaints: the mute button takes a bit to get used to because of how little it pushes in whether you're muted or not. I got these headphones to enjoy my gaming experience just a little bit more, but unfortunately, they were very underwhelming. First, they were big enough to fit my head comfortably, however, my husband (who is a BIG gamer) was not able to wear them at all because of the size/shape of his head. I had to replace my recon 70 headsets and was going to get the recon 200 but at the time the 500s were the same price. Yes it was a major upgrade. The sound is much more crisp and smooth. I can hear footsteps very well and the mic is pretty good as well. The only two downsides is one the mute button. At first I couldn’t tell if I was muted or not but after a while you’ll figure just by touch so no biggie. The second is that it could be a little more bass in it but overall the sound is good.
I instantly felt the poor quality upon opening but i gave it a chance. I played online and a friend said he kept hearing my voice echo. By the end of the night the sound kept breaking in and out. You had to be careful not to accidentally touch the cable connecting to the ps5 controller because it sounded like a broken speaker at a middle school dance. I bought it yesterday and returned it today. Glad i got my money back. Very poor quality, don’t waste your time purchasing this item.
This is my second headset from Turtle Beach, and I absolutely love it. The headset is very well made, feels very comfortable on, and has a great sound. The directions it comes with are straightforward, and it takes 2 minutes to set it up and connect to your device. It blocks outside noise probably about halfway, which is perfect for me. The sound quality is excellent and clear. The mic sounds good and clear as well. I love how adjustable the set is. The ears can be turned different ways, feel very soft and don’t get your ears. Overall, great design and sharp look. One thing I am not a fan of is the plastic cover piece ( on the outer side of the headphones)that keeps on falling off. Preordered them and when they arrived, I have to say I wasn't let down. Clean, clean, clean!!! Wide sound field. Every area of the sound spectrum shows-up and is rendered with pleasing accuracy. The mic is outstanding for Zoom and Dragon Voice Recognition. I never liked using ear buds and I thought over ear headphones were too bulky and heavy. That is not the case here, bigger than earbuds yeah bud lightweight and comfortable no doubt. I don't feel any fatigue wearing these at all. Materials feel good and they seem to be made well, plus the sound is great. Volume was really low even at full blast out of the box but once I fixed it in the system settings the super crisp sounds of the game play really came through. This pair is wired and I know that is a negative for some but the cord is soft, flexible, and lightweight and you hardly notice it so it isn't a drawback for me. I have a medium shape head - the 500s are a little more loose fitting which is slightly more comfortable for long gaming sessions; the Hyperx muffs do not swivel like these, only tilt up and down. Additionally I prefer the cloth-like material around the earmuffs, I find it's cooler, less sweat than leather. Sound was about same quality, the 500 is more noise cancelling as it fits right over my big ears better, no air space; 60mm speakers with built in tweeters vs reg 50mm. Used primarily on Xbox Warzone. I wish it came with a y-adapter for PC however it does work with the Xbox controller without any adapter. These were on sale, seemed higher quality than the similar priced headsets. I read reviews that stated mic issues and mic stopped after a short time. Figured it was worth the risk as I liked the quality of the headstrap and ear pieces over the more plasticy ones. As soon as I saw the removable mic I knew this was going to be a problem. A 7 year old moving bending the mic, setting it down on the mic, all things I could see bending that audio jack. Literally 5 minutes after her opening it, she takes the mic out and puts it back in, wrong angle, bends the middle of the jack. I tell her im returning it for a different one, but she liked it and wanted the same one. I return it and get the same one, the mic stopped working after 2 weeks.
