Clockwork kit made of plywood. Face the challenge of dealing with the effects of gravity on a clockwork mechanism by building an ingenious tourbillon, first developed in the late 18th century by Abraham-Louis Breguet. The machine is set in motion by winding a durable metal spring that can keep it running and demonstrate its function for up to three hours. This offers plenty of time to study the hypnotic workings of the mechanism in detail through the open design, or to relax while it ticks away in the background. Meanwhile, the model imaginatively displays the time by a pair of large discs, which you can of course precisely adjust by turning. The minute disc rotates smoothly at the same time as the tourbillon and the hour disc in leaps and bounds thanks to the percussion mechanism. This extraordinary observatory does not take up too much space and is therefore also a suitable gift for anyone looking for an attractive addition to their desk. Equipped with detailed assembly instructions. 338 precision-cut parts. High assembling difficulty. Up to 3 hours running time per pull. Possibility to set the exact time. Assembling time: 15 hours.Suitable for ages 14 and up. Alasans, the new Lamps4sale.ie.

This build was so much fun. Make sure to actually wear in the tourbillon the way the instructions say. I had to help it along sometimes through the first few hours of operation, and no matter how I set the spring adjusters, it runs fast, but it is so much fun to watch operate. The mechanism that changes the hour doesn't ever catch where it should before it fires. I need to sand it a little bit.

First, I received the Marble Run Chain Hoist as a gift. After seeing ads on the Internet, I was curious about the assembly instructions, quality of material, and UGEARS support. I never required the support offered and the instructions and material were excellent. After completing the Chain Hoist, I ordered the Marble Run Stepped Hoist. The same quality came in the box as did the Chain. I ganged the two models together as shown and cranked away letting the marbles do their thing.I’m hooked. Do I attempt the ‘Hard’, 14+ hours, 14+ age group? The first two I mentioned were in the hard category, I have time to spend so assembly time isn’t an issue, and since I’m 84 the recommended minimum age of 14+ didn’t dissuade me.I contributed about five days on the average of ... MoreFirst, I received the Marble Run Chain Hoist as a gift. The flat spiral spring did pose some issues after winding the coil onto the clock’s drum. I miss interpreted the red down arrows meaning to definitely press down on the clock when releasing the lock pin. I am impressed with the quality of material used in the model. I expected kindling after the spring eventually unwound. A few more days I finished, and all eight boards were now void of parts. It is time (no pun) to give it a crank and pull the lock pin. It Did Its Thing!!

When I received an email offering preorders on this clock kit, I had to have one. This kit is so enjoyable to assemble and the instructions are extremely easy to follow, for detail oriented people. After completion, it took a while playing with it to "wear in" so that it would keep running. But the results are well worth the effort. It is a conversation starter when anyone comes into my office.Well done Ugears.

I bought this for my birthday on Jan this year and finally had time to finished it yesterday. I did it with my 10 yr old daughter and we all had fun. All pieces are well designed and well made. The quality excels my expectations. I posted a short video on my block and all my friends want to get one! I am really hooked and bought another model for my next birthday! I only have one question that my clock stops now and then. What should I do to fix it? Thanks for your great product! And I wish you could design a hard level Ferris wheel! I will definitely buy one!

This is such an excellent kit! Everything needed to build is included, even sandpaper and wax for lubrication. All the parts came away from their sprues cleanly and easily with no damage. There are extras included of some of the smaller and more fragile parts, in case they get lost or damaged. Some joints are tricky to connect, for fear of breaking nearby parts -- but that is part of the fun of the build, solving the small problems that arise. The instructions are easy to understand. Take your time while building, be patient, and read each step twice before proceeding. The movement can be a bit troublesome at first, especially if care is not taken when sanding and waxing the gears and bearing surfaces. The movement can be a bit troublesome at first, especially if care is not taken when sanding and waxing the gears and bearing surfaces. But it is fairly easy to identify areas that need an extra touch of sanding and/or waxing to reduce friction. The longer the clock runs, the smoother the operation becomes. After a couple of tweaks with the sandpaper and wax, my clock runs non-stop. I love the charming click-click-click sound, and being able to see and identify the inner workings of the movement is so satisfying. Definitely a conversation starter! It was so much fun, I am buying another kit, so I have one for home and one for the office!

This is my 4th UGEARS model and by FAR the most challenging. Some of the directions need to be clearer. It took me several tries to get it to work properly. It is VERY important to smooth out ALL the gears and wax all the moving pieces. Graphite from a #2 pencil works well also Once it is up and running it is the most rewarding model I have ever built. When fully wound it runs for 4 - 4 1/2 hrs.

Disappointed.
28 January 2023

I had no trouble assembling it. The directions were easy to follow. It is quite an attractive piece. Sadly, I have spent hours trying to get it to run. I tried clock oil and graphite, in desperation (which made a mess), but the oil did improve the movement significantly… but not enough to keep it running for more than a few seconds.

WARNING about using other lubricant than candle wax.
4 April 2022

The kit is designed extremely well and the parts are cut to fit exactly, had no problem with it at all. The timing ball on the first one I assembled was working as designed, but would stall at times. I read where one person said they lubricated it with Bees Wax, tried that it ruined it. Made the parts stick rather than slide. Think about it, Bees also produce honey, one of the properties of honey is STICKY. Purchased another one and used only candle wax, it runs perfectly. Made a plastic cover to keep the dust off it, I am very proud of it. USE ONLY WHAT THE MANUFACTURER RECOMMENDS AND FOLLOW THE DIRECTINS.
