Ultrahuman Air Smart Activity Ring Yellow 8 / 58-60 mm

The white box with the ring was placed in a larger brown box. The box was very well protected with bubble wrap. The instructions require charging the ring for 30 mins before pairing, and I managed to pair the ring. However it seems to disconnect quite a bit as when I open the app again after some time it says it is disconnected.It seems that the ring arrives with little to no battery since it was only 30% or so charged after about 30 mins. Another hour plus later and it is still only 53%. The app also requires 15 days to calibrate baseline metrics so I can't say yet how well it works.

Great health tracker with fantastic app

Great smartwatch alternative. Now I can use my normal watch and enjoy the insights of a health tracker. I am purposely saying health tracker instead of fitness tracker; this is not the best tracker for sports, you will be better off with a smartwatch for that. But for the other 95% of times, this is an excellent, subtle device which fulfills all my requirements in terms of tracking.While the ring might shine, the app is really the star of the show for me. This, in my opinion, is where a lot of value is created, and all of this is accessible without a subscription fee, which is fantastic.One note: I have the raw titanium ring, which seems to scratch fairly easily. Perhaps the other finishes are a bit more scratch-resistant. Others are also mentioning that the ring gets warm during charging. I would have expected the ring to really feel hot, but in my opinion, it's completely fine and I can wear it without issue after charging. Finally, I don't understand why this product got seemingly review-bombed by 1-star reviews? It's really good, and you shouldn't be discourages by that.

Great sensor and functionality, app could use improvements

The ring itself is pretty comfortable and looks great. The Gold color is noticeable yet quite subtle, looking polished and posh overall. It's lightweight and feels like a sophisticated accessory to have with me. The battery life is excellent and generally matches what the company claims. The Ultrahuman app shows a lot of data points which are helpful but could use a bit of streamlining and simplification (ex: focus on the most important data points and show them upfront).

Love this ring!

I have tried other rings previously, and this is by far the best ring. It matches almost perfectly to my stats from my Garmin. I wear it all the time-working out, running, swimming, and sleeping. It gives me great detail on my sleep. This even detected when I was running a fever.

Pleasantly surprised

Found this brand in Verizon and not heard of them before. Searched the net for reviews and decided to buy. Satisfied purchaser here - tracking is accurate with my Apple Watch and best part I wear my ring to sleep so more data is now tracked. Battery life good around 5 days. Good health gadget.

Stuns with vast quantities of inaccurate data

I really liked the idea of the ring and were it able to accurate measure what it promises, it might be quite useful. However in my experience so far, there's not a lot that can be relied upon. Attached to this review are screenshots from the Ultrahuman app (black background, red or white lines without fill), Garmin during exercise (black background, red lines with red fill) and Kubios HRV Scientific (white background).My findings were:- Passive heart rate measurements (e.g. sleep) are reasonably accurate. When my heart rate is at 160bpm (fairly heavy exercise) per ECG, the ring registers only 120bpm (moderately speedy walk).- HRV readings aren't quite bad enough to be called garbage but aren't good either.- SpO2 readings (only available during sleep) are total garbage. Ultrahuman claims 99% average oxygen saturation but a pulse oximeter recording the entire night only shows an average of 90%. Even the Garmin watch which is at a disadvantage due to its location on the wrist does better, claiming only 94%. However the more important factor is that the SpO2 reading has numerous drops during my sleep, reaching the low 80s.- Due to the useless active heart rate measurements, the breathwork and workout features have limited usefulness.- VO2Max as a single overall measurement doesn't make any sense. VO2Max is specific to individual muscles (a study was performed where participants trained on an exercise bike with only one leg, then performed a VO2Max test with the trained leg and with the untrained leg, only the trained leg showed improved VO2Max) so it makes no sense to claim a general VO2Max measurement the way Ultrahuman does.- Baseline HRV (for me ~30ms) matches neither Kubios nor EliteHRV (both ~20ms), both of which measure using an ECGThe only thing they do that really seems accurate and properly thought through is the Metabolism section but this is because it relies on third-party blood-glucose sensors like the Abbott Freestyle Libre. This feature also requires an expensive subscription (25/month if you buy the sensors yourself, 249/month if you buy them through Ultrahuman). But even this has flaws: their own database of nutrition information is very limited and if you use the integration with MyFitnessPal for example, they don't read the correct time from your food log, so they can't properly correlate meals with blood glucose changes.I've reported many of these issues to Ultrahuman and while the response has usually been quick and polite (they have a chat feature directly in the app), they haven't been able to fix anything.I would not recommend anybody purchase the ring as this time. Maybe later when they've worked out the bugs.

Very good device to monitor basic health metrics

I have always wanted to have data about my sleep patterns and heartbeat rate. I also like wearing normal watches and also hate wearing a watch during the night, therefore a smartwatch was never an option for me.For the purpose of just monitoring your basic health metrics I would say that the Ultrahuman Air Ring is perfect. You get a good insight on your sleep patterns that seems accurate enough. The heartbeat monitoring seems also accurate to me. I compared it at the gym on the treadmill that have a sensor while walking or running and it was quite precise every time.Now for sure other metrics such as the number of steps or calories are most likely just to give you more or less of a rough idea. But fair enough I have not bought it for that purpose anyways.I have been through the other reviews and noticed that so many people are drawing a comparison between a smartwatch and a smartring. From my point of view, these two types of devices offer completely different things...Smartwatches are bigger and have an OS running there offering you quite a lot of things that your smartphone does. But would you compare a smartwatch and a smartphone? That would make no sense... Completely different segments IMHO...Smartrings are the same I would say, they are extremely small, have no OS and just offer basic health metrics monitoring. You have no thing to interact with the ring in the first place, so why are people even comparing both and saying that smartrings are worse than smartwatches? Makes no sense to me...From my perspective, smartrings offers the possibility to people who do not like smartwatches (either the fact that the battery life is bad, or do not want to have notifications all the time on their wrists or just do not like wearing watches during the night or just do not like the smartwatches esthetic at all) to track their health. If you want to to just have basics health metrics and a sleek, small and discrete device then this is definitely the way to go.Now the drawbacks... Announced battery life was around 6 days? I would say 4 days at most, but it is still better than having to charge it every day....In the app, you can switch to the workout modes (there are many such as running, strength training, walking, etc...). I assume it increases the time series precision. However you have to switch the modes manually, which is pretty much annoying...Also another gym related topic. The ring is pretty solid, however scratches happen on any rings. If you want to avoid scratching it during strength training, I recommend using rather thing gloves, which needs some adaptation if you are not used to it.350 bucks for that is rather a steep price, however if you want to have some insights on your health I would say that it is worth it.

After about 6 weeks and a firmware upgrade, the ring stopped connecting to bluetooth. I checked online and this is a well documented problem. Customer service was great and they ship a ring no problem at no cost, but then the replacement charger is faulty. The HR tracking was better post-firmware upgrade, but then considering the whole ring stopped transmitting it became useless. Also it does an ok job of tracking activities on its own if you're walking etc., but zero chance it automatically picks up a bike ride, you need to open the app to track that kind of activity yourself. \
