I bought a dozen of these pens to do crossword puzzles in the newspaper. As best I could determine, these were the right pens for that job. In practice, the pen points are sharp and cut newsprint, unless you are very careful. Also, the tip is too fine, just doesn't lay down a dark enough line to see clearly. Had I known more, I wouldn't have bought such fine tipped pens. I'm disappointed to have made this mistake and now have a bunch of new pens I'll never use.

I have pretty small handwriting and prefer a thinner tip for writing. I was drawn to the uni jetstream ballpoint pens since they were advertised as smooth to write with and came in such cute colours. The 0.38 tip would not stop skipping, though. I was trying to take notes while watching a video. Every time I would pause for a bit and then write something else the ink would not come out. I'd recommend going for a larger tip size. I got a 0.5 sized one as as well and it writes a lot better.

I really wanted to like this. Everyone raves about the Jetstream ink, but I found it to be gloopy and also skips. This is just my initial impression, and it might steady out as I use it over time, but as of now it's just not going to be the first thing I reach for. Maybe I'd like a bigger tip size better as this felt a bit scratchy, and maybe that would help with the glooping, but I don't know. 3 stars because I like the pen body itself and might end up ordering a different ink cartridge to replace.

I love my Uni Jetstreams as much as everybody else. Whenever I shop on JetPens.com, I have to remind myself that I still haven't used up the SXR-600-05 refill in my EDC yet and still have a spare in my refills box, or else I would just hoard them. I got one of these to grade my own exercises when I study chess problems or review STEM, and for a while it was great. However, writing in a Profolio notebook, it started refusing to write on specific areas on the page. I would write somewhere else on the page with no problems, then come back to the problem spot and the pen would absolutely refuse to write. Other pens (including cheap ballpoints and my black Jetstreams) would write fine on that spot. I tried the red pen on cheap engineering pad and had no issues. Other pens (including cheap ballpoints and my black Jetstreams) would write fine on that spot. I tried the red pen on cheap engineering pad and had no issues. Thinking there must be something unique about Profolio paper that is causing the problem, I started using a Maruman Spiral Note Basic and encountered the same local skipping problem. Others have had similar problems with the red pen in 0.5 mm, so there is something off about the red ink that is causing it to skip on higher-quality papers. So, if you plan to use this on cheap paper from your average office supply store, then this is a Jetstream, but red--it works as brilliantly as you would expect. If you are using ultra-smooth imported paper from Japan, you might have issues. A shame, since the pen was rather spendy for a correction pen.
This is beyond words. It is absolutely horrible, as I used it for less than one week, and it completely stopped working. I ordered another, thinking that the previous one was just a dud. Boy, was I disappointed. It didn't even write for a day. It stopped working, and when both were working, they weren't even writing especially well, compared to my other gel pens. I highly do not recommend, buyers beware. I have used ballpoints before, with a relatively bad experience with them. This just further proves my point, it is a completely waste of money. I do not recommend to anyone.
Karlee my daughter is in a certificate program for radiology and uses this pen constantly! She said she must monitor who borrows it as it will not come back. LOL. It is different enough that she will notice it when they use it, or she goes for it, and it's missing. She ran through the first ink cartridge and lost one. She keeps coming back to it.Although not a gel it has one of the best and most consistent lines I've ever encountered on a ballpoint. I have one as well and enjoy using it, both for the ergonomics and the produced line.Pretty tough to beat this pen.
The body of the pen itself is a reasonable compromise between the different styles of ballpoint pens available, but this is not the reason you would be interested in purchasing this pen.Instead it is because it uses the Uni SXR-10 ballpoint refill. And let me say that this is the best ballpoint refill I have used. The caveat here is that I am using the 1.0 mm refill, which is quite broad for many people, but flows with a preternatural ease that one would expect only from a Gel pen.Yet it is undeniably a ballpoint ink, dry nearly as soon as you have put down the lines on the paper. After each stroke, I tried to smudge the ink, but was unable to elicit even a tiny smear. Quite remarkable.Left-handers should take note of this pen, as I am sure they would love ... MoreThe body of the pen itself is a reasonable compromise between the different styles of ballpoint pens available, but this is not the reason you would be interested in purchasing this pen.Instead it is because it uses the Uni SXR-10 ballpoint refill. I have used the Uni SXR-80-10 for many years, which I feel is slightly superior but perhaps a bit more finicky than the Monteverde D1. I am very pleased to report that the SXR-10 (SXN-150-10) is head-and-shoulders above. This is a clearly superior ballpoint refill. The consistent and even line width, the minimal skipping at the start of the line, the fluidity of writing -- all lead to a seamless and hedonistically pleasurable writing experience.Even inveterate fountain pen and gel pen users like myself (I use the Pentel EnerGel LR-10 refills), may find themselves enchanted by this remarkable ballpoint! There is no question that anyone who needs to use a ballpoint pen should strongly consider the Uni Jetstream (SXR-10).
I love how thin the lines are and I love how the grip and pen feels in my hand! My only issue is the skipping and the fact that the ink doesn't run as smooth sometimes. I don't know what could be the issue, whether it's maybe too cold (since it is winter time) or if it's the paper I'm using or maybe even the oil from my hands stop it from writing so smooth (since the side of my palm does drag along the paper sometimes) but it will skip, and then when I try to rewrite it will take a couple times to get the ink moving again. If it didn't have that one issue I would have rated it five star!!(Also highlighting over it is quick and easy! No smearing!)(Does not write on transparent sticky notes that well either. I think it's simply because of how thin the pen in is ... MoreI love how thin the lines are and I love how the grip and pen feels in my hand! I am glad that JetPens is one of the very few sites that provide reliable supply of extra fine and ultra fine pens for those who loves it, and I was very glad about getting this pen. If you write in East Asian languages or almost print-like scripts and characters, the 0.38mm will be handy for squeezing in notes in a small space. It brought back nostalgia when I wrote with it: because it was ”bragging rights" for those who control their hands well and write in smaller fonts while maintaining characters' integrity in my elementary schools. The nostalgia also brought back "old pains" for using this type of pen: for the pen to "flow" well, it required a lot for its environment. The nostalgia also brought back "old pains" for using this type of pen: for the pen to "flow" well, it required a lot for its environment. The paper needs to be quite smooth, and the user usually is a tight gripper but not exerting too much force on the paper. Writing "upright" (e.g. signing on a signature wall, message boards) is not a good idea. The roller ball inside the pen is quite delicate. People who write with lighter force on paper or loves to write cursive will not feel the joy, sadly.
This is one of the pens I use exclusively for my Hobonichi Weeks. The extra fine tip helps me write small and legible. The ink dries fast and doesn’t ever smear when I use my mid liners which is a huge plus. Most of my cons are mostly personal preference. The body of the pen is a bit too thin for my taste and with the very fine tip sometimes I find my writing to feel shaky. Even though I have small hands, I do find slightly thicker pen bodies to provide more stability. The pen can feel a bit scratchy too and sometimes skips. I don’t experience this with the 0.5mm version.I have this exact pen in 0.5mm and find that to be a more versatile and comfortable pen to write with.
