This pencil is honestly amazing, and it is my favorite writing pencil for a few reasons.- I was a little bit skeptical of thr kuru toga mechanism since I've found line inconsistency to be very minor beforehand and thought it was a gimmick, I've begun to appreciate the more consistent lines I get with this pencil over my Rotring 600s or my Pentel Sharp. Especially for softer 2B lead I like to use for writing.- The pencil is very light and its weight is balanced perfectly. The ergonomics of the pencil are amazing as the barrel is wide enough to keep your hands from cramping and the knurling isn't tough enough to irritate the skin on your fingers over a long span of time like other pencils but still just as grippy in a satisfying way.Only thing I'd change on this ... MoreThis pencil is honestly amazing, and it is my favorite writing pencil for a few reasons.- I was a little bit skeptical of thr kuru toga mechanism since I've found line inconsistency to be very minor beforehand and thought it was a gimmick, I've begun to appreciate the more consistent lines I get with this pencil over my Rotring 600s or my Pentel Sharp. I envision a very long future of writing and notetaking with this pencil. I've started reaching for it even over some of my pens, which is rare for me. I very highly recommend it!

Absolutely perfect. I needed to add a pencil to my daily note-taking at my workplace for quick idea jotting and this pencil keeps up the pace. I pair the pencil with the Mnemosyne N193A Memo Pad - Twin Ring - Modified A7 - 5 mm Rule notepad and the way the pencil writes on the paper just feels amazing. The color of the lead on the slightly off-white notepad paper feels like a match made in heaven. Do not get me wrong, I am sure there are "prettier" mechanical pencils on JetPens but the Uni Kuru Toga Roulette is the pencil I wish I had during my School days. I purchased two and my wife stole my second one from how much she loves the feel and look of the pencil.

Love how this pencil looks and performs with the rotating lead. The wobbly-ness can be a bit frustrating to get used to, but once you do, it's still a super excellent pencil. It looks like a high tech drafting pencil without the super high price tag. I bought it as a replacement for my Kuru Toga Advance pencil that has mysteriously gone missing. I was using another cheapo pencil in the meantime but really missed the rotating function, so here we are.

I bought my first one of these over a decade ago; hands down the best mechanical pencil I've ever had. I have several now, which I keep in various locations around the house, and my family members have also purchased these after trying mine. Perfect for any kind of technical work where you need sharp lines. The only thing that could be off-putting to some is that the mechanism means that the body of the pencil moves slightly further after the lead first touches the paper, which can be disconcerting at first. I quickly got used to it!Best if used with the Kuru Toga leads, which have a harder core and softer sheath. I've used other lead brands in mine, but I always *immediately* feel the difference and have usually come to regret not using the OEM leads.
I recently discovered the existence of pencils of this variety; rotating pencils, I never considered there being a soluble method to fixing the issue of the inconsistent hardness/softness/width regarding mechanical pencils. I had concluded to manually rotate it in an attempt to maintain a steady distribution. Having tested the pencil, I can claim that there is a noticeable difference compared to alternatives. While it is not particularly obvious that the mechanism is rotating, it does show through in the writing itself. I find it to be more suitable for writing though, as one tends to press more firmly as opposed to sketching or drawing where the rotation may not always be applied properly. This is not to say it cannot be used for drawing though. However, I think it is important to note that the efficiency is partially dependent on the pressure distribution.
The Uni Kuru Toga Roulette is the best most effective mechanical pencil I have ever used. the fantastic rotating lead feature is an utter stroke of genius. the only minor issue I have experienced has already been addressed by Uni with thier release of the Kuru Toga Advance line, which has a retractable pipe slide. I have poked my Uni Kuru Toga Roulette through my shirt pocket a number of time already.
I cannot overstate how much I love this pencil. The design and engenuity is brilliant. Yes it is a bit pricy for a mechanical pencil. However, it is completely, 100% worth it. The design is ACTUALLY brilliant. When I first heard about the roulette design (this pencil rotates the led so that it wears evenly) i thought it sounded really cool but I wasn’t sure it would make much of a difference. I could see it easily being sorta gimmicky and I hemmed and hawed over wasting money on a pencil. I let it sit in my cart for a while. I mean I’m not an artist did I really need this? Omg. Yes. It’s actually just so easy to use. The led never ever ever breaks. Its sooooo smooth. IT NEVER BREAKS. NEVER. I just can’t. I mean I know it’s just a pencil but 🤯. I just cannot express how much I love it. Not only would I buy it again but I, in fact, have bought it again. I bought one for each room of my home (except the bathroom because I’m not THAT crazy) because I will walk around my home looking for this one before I use any other pencil it’s that nice i also bought one as a gift for my father (because nothing says you’re a great dad like an expensive mechanical pencil).
I have purchased several of these pencils and love the rotating lead mechanism.I give them away to friends and business contacts and they are always well received. No logo but just a gift.I am a regular customer of Jet Pens. Love the Japanese inventiveness of all their products. Will certainly buy more.
Ages ago, back in 80s, I was growing up in USSR. I had a coolest mechanical pencil a relative had gifted me. First of, mechanical pencils were in great deficit, and the refills for them too, and forget the eraser replacements. But I had it, black beauty from Mitsubishi Pencil Company with its logo on the side, shiny and slick. It slipped my mind what happened to that pencil, but I wanted recently to have something similar and I found out that Uni is a Mitsubishi company and this pencil had new rotating refill, innovated designed, cool metal accents, knurled grip, well balanced, replaceable eraser. It came in original packaging. Think about it, before you find one a buck or two cheaper on another site, where people had complained receiving some counterfeited pencils ... MoreAges ago, back in 80s, I was growing up in USSR. I wont mention this huge online retailer, but I'm happy I found JetPens, and this particular pencil, that's not only practical - it's a thing of beauty.
A really nice pencil to hold. Just feels so comfortable in the hand. Very well made. The lead is kept sharp automatically so no line differences occur when drawing. Longer line work does have some thickness development but not enough to cause problems for inking at the final stage. For the price, I cannot fault this pen. The pencil dies not leave a dusty mess, it delivers a clean line.

Uni Kuru Toga Roulette Mechanical Pencil - Silver - 0.5 mm
The Kuru Toga stands out as one of the most innovative mechanical pencils. It features a revolutionary, built-in mechanism that rotates the lead incrementally every time you lift the pencil, resulting in a uniformly sharp point. The Kuru Toga also uses a unique lead that is softer on the outside and harder at the core, which is in contrast to standard leads that are harder on the outside but softer in the middle. This works together with the pencil's rotation mechanism to ensure a sharp point at all times. The 0.5mm graphite lead refill can be found here.
