Needed to be able to communicate with my beloved (in the car) or colleagues while searching for orchids in the Aussie bush. Didn't want to spend a fortune or talk with half the world as per more elaborate radio set ups. The Uniden UH820S-2TP 80 Channels 2 Watt UHF Handheld Tradies Pack (Twin Pack) worked beautifully covering the range I needed to be able to stay in contact, being easy to carry with all my other photography gear and simple to use.

Purchased 4 twin packs for use within and across two warehouses about 1km apart, for this distance they work extremely well, testing beyond 3km is very hit and miss

The UHF radios are being used when we travel to our country property, they work well and are a great help given mobile connection is non existent in some locations on the property. Would recommend them to anyone needing a light but very functional UHF radio.

No other 2watt radio anywhere that can also take AA rechargeable batteries,making this an excellent choice. This certainly won my heart. Well done Uniden.
Uniden has ALWAYS been my fave as far as two ways go. I ALMOST gave it a 4 as I felt the price was just a LITTLE high. I compared these with some others and the general price was around $175 - 200 for the same specs, just food for thought guys, BUT I was VERY impressed with the mic handsets and earphones and coloured faceplates. VERY easy assembly and rechargeable batteries won my heart!!! Well done!
I could only afford the 2watt package. Found the 5watt would give greater coverage and reception. But very expensive. Glad I went with what I could afford.
We used these between two cars in convoy to the Grampians, and then while trekking as two separate groups. We had clear communication free from background noise and also other users, even when far from having clear line-of-sight.
A handy piece of equipment to have on a medium-sized property. Good range and audio performance. The remote mic options make the radios extremely versatile on the farm. Good value at this price point.
Uniden UH820S-2TP Great handheld radios work straight out of the slick presentation case - good for keeping the additional vox mic, spkr mic additional alkaline battery holder, cig. chrger, wall plug etc in a safe place. Nice sound quality plus additional settings too. Spoke to the store - great impartial advice which I followed and did my own investigating and chose these ones.
Easy to use. Good sound. Achieved at least 3.5km in flat urban built up environment. Greater communication distance and clarity when walking to an elevated spot. Antenna connector is not a standard connector - so cannot find a commercially available external antenna for in-car use. Option of using AA batteries in supplied jacket was a key part of our decision to buy. Tradies pack included speaker/microphone which will be useful for in car use. Would have been 5 star review if an external antenna for in-car use cold be sold or found.
