The M30 is a good middle of the road mouthpiece. It provides a nice, warm tone, but you're not going to have the flexibility to be extremely loud or soft. This is a good blend in mouthpiece, not a featured soloist mouthpiece.

My daughter has been playing for several years on a beginners clarinet. This is an amazing upgrade. Not only does it drastically improve her tone it also has made it easier for her to play, especially the higher registers.

The M30 plays with ease on my older Selmer CenteredTone. I have played the John Pierce for years because I like the projection/power, but after trying the M30-I have changed. The tone is darker than the JP, but has the projection I want for big band work with less resistance. I use Bari* Soft reeds. This piece suprised me!

My daughter absolutely LOVES this mouth piece. She is a highly advanced clarinetist & is very pleased with the tones & warmth she gets with this mouthpiece.
I bought this 13 series M30 mouthpiece specifically because it is designed for for players using A = 440 pitch. I play an older Buffet R13 and the lowest register was consistently a bit sharp and I would have to pull the barrel and middle joint out just a bit to try and balance the intonation between registers which can have a negative effect on the throat and altissimo register. So I wanted to see if the lower pitch center of this mouthpiece would make a difference and it did. With this mouthpiece all the registers are are much more in tune with each other and I can play with the barrel (66mm) and other joints on the clarinet completely pushed in so the throat and altissimo register intonation benefits from from that while the lowest register is no longer sharp ... With this mouthpiece all the registers are are much more in tune with each other and I can play with the barrel (66mm) and other joints on the clarinet completely pushed in so the throat and altissimo register intonation benefits from from that while the lowest register is no longer sharp with no need to pull any sections of the clarinet out. While this mouthpiece is not quite as loud and does not project as well as the mouthpiece I have been playing (Clark Fobes Cicero) it has a nice even tone in all registers and is very easy to play with confidence in any register and it seems you can really push a lot air through it without problems though it plays nicely when playing very soft too. I'm not sure if it will become my main moutpiece but there is something addictive about the balanced intonation and the darker smooth tone I get from it. Mainly it showed me that this particular clarinet can play evenly in tune in every register with the right setup. I tested it with Vandoren V12 #3 and Peter Leuthner #3 reeds but I think I a harder reed would work better with this mouthpiece for me. For players who play in situations where the pitch is A=440 or that tend to play sharp these Vandoren 13 series mouthpieces might be a perfect choice but if you play in situations where the pitch is higher it might be difficult to play in tune without making other compromises (shorter barrel, harder reeds, bad embochure etc.) that would defeat the purpose of using this mouthpiece.
I bought this mouthpiece to replace the plastic one that came with my Buffet R13. It's absolutely fantastic! I love the tone quality and the ease of playing. It's so awesome, and I sound so much better when using this mouthpiece. The sound is beautiful, and comes out so easily. Once you play it, you'll see what I'm talking about. I would also suggest buying a mouthpiece patch for extra traction and performance. Overall, a great buy!
This is my second purchase and chose a slighter narrower lay this time. Excellent tone. Probably need to experiment with a slightly harder reed
Clarinet, the B45 is one we are keeping, lovely sound, great feel from the start. richer deeper notes will last for some time now.
As a woodwind player, clarinet has always been my weakest double. I had been fighting the mouthpiece/ligature setup that I had been using. Just got my M30 (with a Rovner Legacy Ligature) today and what a world of difference. Finally looking forward to playing more clarinet.
Clarinet has always been my most challenging double. Therefore I avoided playing it like the plague. This mouthpiece has completely changed my clarinet playing. It locked every thing in place. Plus the Rovner Legacy Ligature is an excellent match to this mouthpiece. Wish I'd done this long ago. HIghly recommended. The only con is that the info on the M40 series could be a little better. There are four variations on the M40. Had to make a very calculated guess to get it right.
