This was first try on a synthetic reed and it was not bad. There are more expensive higher quality synthetic reeds available which I have now moved on to but this one was pretty good. Definitely worth having one and a good as a proof of concept.

My beginner clarinet player (12 y/o) needed a new reed and school-bought reeds are highway robbery. Several old band buddies recommended this brand (I'm an old trumpet player). The reeds are very well priced and with 10 to a box w/reed protectors, she's got backups to spare. Begginers band kids are hard on reeds, so its nice to know that there's more on the shelf. Vandorn reeds seem to be of very good quality and produce a very smooth and clear tone.
I've tried many reed brands over the decades for my clarinets. I gradually moved to Vandoren mouthpieces and reeds. I find them much easier to get a free and easy-blowing sound---and a warm and beautiful sound---on. I am very pleased with both.
Now on my third reed in one week out of the box. The first two were unusable. I even tried working them to make them marginally usable for practice, but had to chuck both of them. Haven't played the third one yet since I usually soak and burnish them briefly for a couple of days before playing. I am just switching from Rico 2.5's to VanDoren 3.0's so maybe these reeds are just less forgiving. I was hoping for better tone with VanDorens but haven't had one playable enough to test that theory.
Don't buy anything else. Vandoren Blue Box is the best for clear consistent tone on saxophone and clarinet
Vandoren are the most used reeds by students and teachers, and many professionals tooo. dv247 had these boxes of 10 at an excellent, low price.
