I purchased the C.K VDE COMBICUTTER 3 160MM (31773)I was a little hesitant because I thought they were a little expensive and I like my present snips/cutters, got a discount offer from Screwfix, so decided to give them a try.My only regret,!! should have got them years ago, would have saved me loads of time. Brilliant at stripping ends off 2.5mm T&e cable. Well worth the money, very very pleased. Highly recommended

I bought these as I finally agreed that my old cutters were worn out and blunt, watched the video and bought them.I have used them and now understand what everybody was complaining about my old cutters were definitely blunt.The stripper feature is very useful.The cutters are very well made with comfortable handles and smooth easy action.I am glad I bought them, however, it is a bit early to say how reliable they will be over time.

I've been using these cutters for the last five years to carry out my electrical work. They have retained their sharpness and useability.They are very easy to use and make preparing cable an easy task.I wouldn't hesitate to buy these again when the time comes. However they are expensive but sometimes you get what you pay for.

Having struggled lately with my first class but ageing side-cutters I saw the video for this VDE combicutter. They are slightly larger than my old cutters but this is an advantage with my reducing strength with age. I find them extremely good for cutting and stripping house cabling. I will continue to use my smaller cutters for work in restricted spaces like circuit boards..
Excellent combicutter and top quality, it can cut a hair it's that good. Only complaint it's on the smaller size.
These are the only cutters/strippers I use now. I used to muck about carrying around a pair of side cutters and a separate stripper. Not necessary now.The anvils are useful for bending cable without breaking it, the cutters are sharp and cut cleanly and the strippers work perfectly on 1.5mm and 2.5mm solid conductors.I've bought a new pair as the last ones got fried (a previous spark had mislabelled the consumer unit....)
I bought this for one task - to cut down 3.5mm screws which go on the front of electrical sockets and light switches. I did about 50 cuts and doing the cuts is a cinch.I am not an electrician so only needed the tool for that job. That said, it feels pretty solid.You need to allow 5mm in your measurements as that is what goes into the tool - so if you want a 20mm screw you would have 15mm protruding from the tool (at the front) and the last 5mm will be in the tool.This is MUCH quicker than the cheaper tools you can buy for £4 which you have to screw the screw in to cut it - if you are doing loads it will take forever and I tried one of those cheaper tools and it didn't make a clean cut. Great side-cutters that make stripping that much easier due to them having 2.5mm and 1.5mm cut-outs for those sizes of wire in the jaws.This is my second set as I use them to shorten steel socket retaining 'bolts' as well, and that eventually destroys the jaws. My buying them again should really tell you I'm very happy with them.
I've used C.K. Tools a lot over the years, some of them have seen a demise in quality in my opinion but these combicutters are still great. I no longer have to carry my long nose pliers to bend over copper wire because these combicutters have an anvil function built right in. They also cut off faceplate screws easily and with a nice clean cut.I buy the 160mm versions because I have smaller hands but the 180mm version is just as useful for normal size hands or larger.
I bought these to reduce the number of tools I needed on me and believed the folding anvil to be of use... It isn't.It is quicker to put down the cutters and pick up a pair of pliers than it is to faff-around with this anvil. It should be on the same side of the pivot as the cut/strip if it is to be of any real benefit.Yes, it does a good job, but too much of a faff.
