Vegemite now in squeezey tube or am I late to the game to realize and discover this? Having this product in tube makes dispensing so much easier. Just one tiny squeeze is enough for me. Vegemite is high in B vitamins. The smell and taste to me is beer and/or whiskey at the mash phase. I love the earthly smell. The taste takes some time for me personally. This lasts me a long long time. My friend recommended toast with butter and a thin layer of a Vegemite. Butter is required. And who doesn’t want something healthy!

I haven't tried it yet. But I have a good friend that is from Australia who has told me how to use Vegemite and this should be really good. I've seen it used on cooking shows. So I'm trying it on buttered toast with a little on top, until I get used to the taste. This is the best way to get used to it, slowly so the taste is easier to get used to.

Vegemite is to Australia, what grits is to the South. For my American friends - butter (margarine) some hot toast, then spread a VERY light layer of Vegemite. Spread it thin, don't cake it on like peanut butter or jelly. It's kind of like a concentrate, so thinly does it.

How to properly eat vegemite (by an Australian)
25 October 2022

You gotta spread the vegemite thin, NOT thick. Vegemite is salty and bitter, add too much and surprise! you're not gonna like it; not even us Aussies like it thickly spread. If you're having it in a sanga or on toast make sure to put some butter on first to really bring out the savory, you could also chuck in a thick slab of avocado and a bit of pepper, it goes beautiful with cheese. Some people say it pairs well with jam but I wouldn't go that far

Nearly Half Of Australians Eat Vegemite Every Day

This spread is along the same lines as Marmite, but it?s not Marmite and has a different taste. Last night I made the mistake of putting a little too much Vegemite on a crumpet and the taste wasn?t very appealing. The trick is to not slather it on like you would jam. It should be lightly scraped onto a buttered slice of toast, toasted bagel, crumpet etc. The butter / margarine gives the Vegemite a base to make it more spreadable, and also I find, makes the taste more palatable. Today I put small dots of Vegemite around my toasted buttered bagel then scraped it about. There are pictures online to show the light recommended consistency for beginners like me. Believe me, it?s worth sticking with. Once you get the preparation right, a warm, freshly toasted buttered bagel with a scraping of Vegemite (along with your favourite cup of coffee) is so moreish and addictive. It?s that, ?I?ll just have one more slice?, and you won?t stop till your full. There?s a thing I?ve heard on Australian ABC radio (Dr. Karl?s Science Hour), where nutritionist Professor Clare Collins recommends putting the Vegemite in the fridge because of cross-contamination with the butter or margarine that?s used with it. I don?t keep my Vegemite in the fridge because I avoid cross-contamination. I take what portion I need of Vegemite for that slice with a teaspoon and then take it off the teaspoon with the same knife I used to butter the slice. This avoids getting any butter inside the Vegemite jar. The Vegemite taste is a salty twang, with (as long as you?ve used it lightly), a moreish sharpness with a kind of slight beery aftertaste. Lastly, in 1939 Vegemite was officially endorsed by the British Medical Association as a rich source of B vitamins. Higher intakes of B vitamins have been linked to lower levels of stress and anxiety. Anyways...Vegemite is so moreish, and just a scrape is needed. Hope this helps!

I love vegemite. I love that you guys carry it! I wish you had different sizes, though. For those of you who've never had it - no, it's NOT like Nutella. The flavor has always reminded me a bit of soy sauce. I like to eat it on buttered toast - a light dusting of vegemite to top it off. You don't lather it on like peanut butter, especially when trying it for the first time. I like to still see my toast under it, but have enough that it gives that salty yummy morning taste! You may find yourself craving it!

Vegemite Sandwich
27 August 2016

I finally broke down and bought some Vegemite after being curious about it for many years after hearing about a Vegemite Sandwich in a song. I wanted to eat it correctly so I did some research on the internet about how it should be eaten. That was when I found out about the controversy between Vegemite and another product of similar ingredients named Marmite, so I ordered some Marmite too, and did a side by side taste test. These products are a seasoning, and they should be used sparingly. Eating a large dose of either product could be compared to eating a large tablespoon of salt or pepper, you just wouldn't do it. Vegemite LIGHTLY spread on buttered toast is a taste treat, and is really quite pleasant! Marmite on the other hand has a foul overpowering salty taste, and I will never knowingly put it in my mouth again. If you want me to confess to anything, all you need to do is threaten to force feed me Marmite! I have made myself a Vegemite sandwich as an after breakfast snack everyday since it arrived, When I run out of Vegemite I will order some more. I put the Marmite in the garbage can and I can only hope that someone picking through the dump does not mistake it for a food product. Vegemite, and Australian Black Licorice are the best reasons I can think of for keeping Australia as our allies.

Vegemite has a milder flavor
23 October 2022

Vegemite has a milder flavor than Marmite and I, personally, prefer it. Nevertheless, like Marmite, it is definitely an acquired taste. Several of my acquaintances wanted to try it and the reaction was definitely adverse. You said in your e-mail that you are trying to decide if you should keep importing it, and that really depends on your sales numbers and margins. When I want to buy it in the future I will visit your website first and, if you no longer carry it, will look elsewhere. I have been a customer for a number of years and I like your range of products and your service. You won't lose me if you don't carry Vegemite.

I am from New Zealand so Im very used to this product and I know what it taste like. I find it funny when Americans want to try it and are disgusted by it LOL it is a yeast product, it is extremely salty, it is to be used extremely sparingly, if you use it correctly its a pretty awesome condiment to go on buttered toast, grilled cheese sandwiches etc. If youre adventurous and you like new things I highly recommend it.

weird, and not in a good way
15 January 2023

as someone who thinks that marmite is merely ok i am always trying different yeast extracts. tried vegemite, expecting good things but no. its weird: the flavour is both strong and bland at the same time, with an aftertaste which i can only describe as soapy. extremely unpleasant.please ocado: start stocking Essentials Vitam-R, the only truly wonderful yeast extract.
