I have had my Vegepod for a month or so now. Has to be one of my best purchases ever. So far we have grown lettuce, radish, spinach. Lots more seeds on the go indoors to replenish soon. It’s lovely to go outside to pick what you need for your tea. My Son assembled the pod and stand with ease. The canopy cover was the most difficult part as at first it would only stretch three quarters of the way down. My tip is to build the canopy frame but then turn upside down and apply a little pressure to the joints and the frame then slotted together fully so the canopy could be stretched down. I wish I had bought the next size but that is due to my over planting seeds as the small one is still a good size.

Got this as a wonderful gift!

I have caught the ‘growing succulents’ bug, and this vegepod caught my eye as being perfect for me. My succulents throw ‘pups’ (that IS a technical term for procreation!) and I grow them on to become large plants for planting in the garden. However, although we have great weather in the Mediterranean, I do struggle to keep them growing during strong winds and storms when they’re small, plus this provides perfect regular watering by capillary action and so the roots don’t rot, which is an easy mistake to make.I was delighted that I received this as a birthday gift (as I was so enthusiastic about it) and it is now set up next to a sheltered porch. Haven’t had storms since I received this but it’s so sturdy and well made I don’t envisage any issues we can’t handle. ... MoreI have caught the ‘growing succulents’ bug, and this vegepod caught my eye as being perfect for me. Brilliant thing. Bit expensive really, but to be honest, you do get what you pay for, don’t you? I’m past the stage of buying cheap to save money and then rueing wasted cash when it doesn’t work. This is a one time purchase, and is already saving plants and money.........I haven’t lost a single plant since this was set up!

I bought this for my gorgeous Hubble for part of his 25th silver wedding anniversary gift from me. Due to a disability he can’t bend down to tend to veggies at ground level. This is ideal at waist height!!!!Ok so I won’t lie this took me on my own 9 hours to out together. 10 broken finger nails and one deep cut - but it was worth it!!!! The instructions are pretty dreadful. I think had it been in colour rather than blurry black and white it would have seriously reduced the construction time xxx I have the urge to rewrite them for the company to make them clearer as I’d hate to think anyone would give up and return it half way through.I also want to give a HUGE HUGE HUGE thank you to the darling man fromThe Vegepod company who actually called in person to check I ... MoreI bought this for my gorgeous Hubble for part of his 25th silver wedding anniversary gift from me. Customer service at its very best!!!The actual product once assembled it out of this world. Yes it is expensive but worth every hard earned penny. It is massive and so deep! We needed almost 600 litres of soil to fill it. Currently Hubble is growing from seed lettuce, brocolli, carrots, basil, oregano, strawberries, raspberries, tomatoes, spinach and a few more. It’s massive!Would 100% complete recommend! Xxx

Large Hothouse Cover (PVC Cover Only)

Living in CHCH I needed to buy the cover so we could eat vegetables all year round. The lettuce and spinach are fantastic. I have never been able to grow peppers and egg plants until now. Wow! Highly recommend the cover in the cooler climates.

Vegetables grow great under the pvc coverThe covers have a fault that they tend to rip in the bottom corners . Have strengthened with builders wide tape , but they still fail over time. They need to be made with a wider stronger strip around all seems. The plastic also becomes brittle in the sun and only lasts about a year before failing, and breaks down.

Fits the pod really well and protects crops from rain and cold, I was successfully able to grow lettuce all through winter, where they were previously rotting due to wet conditions.Unfortunately the cover is not particularly strong and does not seem to stand up well in strong Wellington winds. After just one season, mine has already ripped open on the side and two of the ties have come unattached.I would still use again next season after a bit of diy repairs.

Product arrived extremely quickly and damage free. Haven't installed it yet as the weather has started to warm up now. It will most likely be used next winter for seed starting etc. Should do the job well. A zippered vent or 2 would make a nice addition to allow airflow and cooling during the warmer part of the day while still being able to keep the lid down to stop the bugs. Happy with the cover and the service.

I love the idea of this. The thin hair ribbons to attach the cover to the frame are a surprise and seenm iadaeuate for purpose. I woudl expeect something more secure and for purpose as with the netting. Cover has twice blown off in the last month with winds. Also because it is just tied in the 4 corners and is shallo - it seems to be easy for slugs/ snails to eneter the pod?

The best money I have spent

I have 5 vegepods now, and husband has assembled them all.I knew these were for us as soon as I saw them demonstrated. I've always loved growing our own produce, but can't do that any more, couldn't even get down to sow seed - now I can.The first arrived in March. and I sowed it straight away, with spinach and lettuce. Then the 2nd arrived sown with brassicas.I soon noticed that plants grow at about 5 times faster inside the protective cover, than outside. The turnover is very quickThey are of sturdy construction and resist being blown over, even in the terrible gales we have been having.I don't agree with previous reviews, the instructions are quite simple, but sometimes you may need to sit and think about it. its more fun watching the assembling videos. ... MoreI have 5 vegepods now, and husband has assembled them all.I knew these were for us as soon as I saw them demonstrated. The turnover is very quickThey are of sturdy construction and resist being blown over, even in the terrible gales we have been having.I don't agree with previous reviews, the instructions are quite simple, but sometimes you may need to sit and think about it. its more fun watching the assembling videos. You'll get on at a swifter pace that way.Fitting The hinges were the most challenging, because the videos weren't revealing how it was done. So then we resorted to rely on the written manual. An important thing to remember is that each component part are not be the same fit. Some are a tighter fit and pliers were needed on one hinge. also, one of the covers is a looser fit (curiously) and billows in the wind. while the other covers are more snug. The cover produces a mirror like effect inside so the crops are bathed in light and the surface of the compost warms very quickly. We have sown lettuce beetroot turnips (summer) spinach, kale, cabbage, parsley, sweetcorn, basil, garlic chives french beans strawberries, and are going to grow garlic & shallots this autumn after clearing the old crops out.Our soil in our old veg garden is very dry and poor, and so our crops would never have been as big without the vegpods . No weeding or digging.I waited to review, because I was suspicious about the gap under the cover near the base. I was convinced cabbage whites would crawl in there. So I waited...well I can reveal thaT cabbage white butterflies are quite capable of getting to the crops without using that gap. This is what happened...Some leaves were pressing against the inside of the cover, and I stood there watching a butterfly push its abdomen through the white fabric as it fluttered about, onto a small segment of the leaf.So its important to remember to always remove brassica leaves that are touching the inside of the cover so they can't reach them. And another tip is ALWAYS check all leaves are tucked inside the pod safely when closing the upper lid. They could lay eggs on there and next time when you come along it gets tucked in, and happy day for the caterpillars !!!If its worth anything I haven't seen any climbing under the lid... yet.Crops remain pest free if sown in clean fresh compost, but if there are some pests already on a plant ie lettuce seedlings, etc and then transplanted into a pod, there population soon builds up. I soon realised it was wise to open the pods at least everyday. The fourth pod is planted with strawberry plants now, and look much sturdier than when they went in. Now I can really keep the birds off them.I have no regrets, My crops are so massive and delicious, The pods are very solid in construction and explain why they are a considered purchase.
