Had roof replaced last fall and had our old velux skylights replaced at the recommendation of the contractor. They weren’t leaking but he said they should be replaced. We replaced with m08 2004d and they look great! Loved them until we had to clean the outside glass. Our old skylights had the option to flip them around so we could clean the outside glass but these appear to only be able to cleaned by way of ladder. Very unfortunate, any recommendations?

I bought 4 of these last summer, and they have added so much light to my home. However, they are not easy to open, at least not with the straight pole that Velux sells to open them. Makes me less inclined to open them, which is a shame, as the breeze is so nice when I do.

The crank mechanism no longer works correctly, is this something that can be easily fixed, or do I need to replace the entire unit?

I built my home 15 years ago and installed velux skylights at that time. We had a major hail storm and roof got damaged so I called insurance Co and they said they would replace skylights. I called velux with my old model # and they told me the model to get to take it's place. They fit like a glove. The new ones have a much cleaner look also. I would definitely recommend.
These were in our house when we moved in, in 1994. Have performed flawlessly. But is there a way to clean the outside of the windows from the inside? Can they be easily released to open all the way so I can clean them? They are located 30+ feet from the ground and the hose with detergent doesn't do the job.
I just had these installed and am thrilled with the products thus far. I had an issue with my remote for the blinds and a quick call to Technical Assistance resolved the issue withing a few minutes, working with a very pleasant technician.
I purchased a replacement for my OLD Vs 06. Beware-The Skylight does not come with a way to add a Manual Blind to it. The old velux had a channel for the string. Note: You will be forced to pay $450 + tax for an overly complicated solar electronic blind. This totally is not needed for a window that is low enough to simply pull the string. Called manufacture and basically said too bad ( $1500 later- soon to be $2000 + with taxes) I wish I kept the old skylight or ordered from another manufacturer that does not force you to subscribe to an expensive option.
I've always been apprehensive about having skylights installed. But Velux stated that the best guarantee is the one you never have to use, therefore, they built quality into every product. This was a reassuring statement. So on April 11, 2020, after a hail storm, my roof was replaced as well as the skylight. There were no problems until 12" of ice and snow started to melt. Then a wet spot started to appear on the plasterboard ceiling of the garage beneath the window. I called the roofer to inspect the problem and he claimed that the size of a metal piece around the window wasn't an adequate size to keep the Velux window from leaking water. I've attached a photo of the ceiling. I'm not at all happy with this product.
I have loved these UNTIL the window hook fell, almost hitting me in the head. It seems that over time, the set screw, which holds the window hook up on the inside of the window, loosens and then the window hook falls, most likely when you are standing under it and opening or closing skylight. It also scratched my bathtub finish when it fell. Velux is replacing the part, showing their integrity, however it could have been a serious accident if I'd been standing just an inch closer. I hope they change their design or at least warn people to check how tight the screw is every couple of years. Other than the dangerous design of the window hook and set screw, I have enjoyed these skylights.
I had replaced 2 of my skylights years ago and I really enjoyed these products for maximum lighting and fresh air. But over theirs of used and normal cleaning. I have came across the pins that held the screens in place have broken off. Is there any replacement part for it because there is no longer any kind of knob to grab and pull those pins out of the hole to remove for cleaning. Any suggestions or part replacements?
