Awesome sun tunnel. Due to the roof structure, my rigid tunnel has a bit of an S curve between the roof and the ceiling. But still produces so much light, it lights up the hallway perfectly.Cutting roof tiles and setting up frame was the hardest part, as instructions have good pictures but no words.Took me approximately 1.5 hours to do the roof part, and 1.5 hours to set up the tunnel and ceiling part.

I was stuck with ordering the 10” since 14 would not fit between my 12” ceiling and roof joists. It puts out surprising amount of light on overcast days but the description indicating light sufficient for 10x10’ groom is a little optimistic.Note- my installation required only about 30 inches between roof deck and ceiling.Positives:- it does a good job considering the size of the tube;- is not difficult to install if you are comfortable with cutting holes in your roof. There is no way this is a 2 hr install as advertised for first time installer.Negatives:- the light is a very cold bluish light. Competitor has much warmer light color;- documentation has enough info to enable you to figure it out but is not sequenced well and just plain false in one area.- ... Needs maybe 11”. This is not obvious until you break a mounting clamp.- bag of required 3/8” screws nowhere to be found.- mounting ring that slides into roof mount is terribly made.- pictures on sheet of supplemental instructions for insulating roof dome were nearly worthless.- the assembly clips have sharp edges that practically guarantee you will scratch reflective inner surfaces unless you are super carefull.
A bit expensive for what it is but the amount of light is really quite extraordinary. Would work out cheaper than a roof window because of less work involved. You can fit one in a day assuming easy access

I have put in two of these, and plan to put in two more. Yes, it is worth it. Actual time to install, counting getting tools, is about 3 1/2 hours. I got really confused about how to get this under the shingles without having to remove shingles. Best practice would be to use a SawsAll to cut the hole. You would then use it to go under the shingles above the hole and cut the nails. A big chisel is helpful to pry up the shingles. Slide the sheet metal under the shingles above the hole, and the flashing below the hole lies atop the shingles. I use asphalt cement over the nails, and around the edges. You usually need the extension tube, so get it if you aren't sure.Seal up all cracks very well with the enclosed tape, or you'll have bugs in there. For dark rooms, it's ...
