Verbatim SDHC cards (Secure Digital High Capacity, SD 2.0) are designed for use in compatible digital cameras, portable MP3 players, camcorders, mobile phones, PCs, and other consumer applications. SDHC cards utilize a FAT32 file system, a specification established for applications requiring higher capacity, and are particularly suitable for high-quality videos. The increasing use of high-quality videos, high-resolution digital photography, and mobile applications demands higher storage capacities and more advanced data transfer rates. Therefore, SDHC cards provide a continuous minimum data transfer speed rather than a maximum speed. Verbatim SDHC cards are compatible with all relevant SD standards. An integrated write protection feature also prevents accidental data deletion. SDHC cards use the same low-level formatting as SD cards but cannot be used in SD host devices that do not comply with SDA standards version 2.0. The SDHC logo is a trademark. Performance classes serve as the official unit for measuring the speed of SD cards and are defined by the SD Association. The unit corresponds to 8 Mbit/s and measures the minimum write speeds based on the best possible fragmentation state, where no storage unit is occupied.
