Victa Self Propelled Mower

If this Victa mower is anything like the previous Victa Thunder self propelled be very careful. After a few years of very light use it failed. After pulling it down I found that a plastic drive pulley wheel had collapsed (machined a steel one to replace it ). The Brigs motor is good starts first time an doesn’t use oil but the build quality of the body and drive mechanism is very poor. Approach these Victa mowers with caution.

Within 18 months of fortnightly home mows $$144.50 was needed for collapsed rear wheel bearings

I am delighted with the performance. I am recently a widow and this mower is just great for a beginner
Like all things, if you service it well, clean it frequently & store in a dry place, you'll be fine. Ensure to activate the Warranty & most lawn mower service locally can act on the Warranties for you. I've upgraded my 7 year old Suburu Ryobi Mulcher (still does a way better job than modern mowers). But I got the Victa due to its self drive function. My new place has a monster of a lawn & I can interchange the mowers where needed. Look, don't be rough with it, no lawn mower is meant to be operating in the rain, but if you clean & dry it properly, it'll last you a lifetime. Make sure to press the drive shaft all the way & not partially.
I bought this 6 months ago and it’s doing just fine except it caught on fire and burnt to a crisp not sure why but it mowed my lawn once it did great definitely recommend
Self propelled system is a joke , slow on flats and wont work on the slightest slope ( ignore what the box says) . Without the Self propelled system the mower feels twice as heavy as the normal victa classic mulch and cut... its heavy... Unless your lawn is dead flat , your lawn is getting cut weekly and your as fast as snail this mower isnt for you
Purchased a better quality mower to last , This is absolute rubbish don't buy, brought from Bunnings 5/12/20 , easy walk no longer works, and that part only has a year warranty. Very hard to use without easy walk.
Easy to set up and use, makes the job easier to do
Only used this mower twice so far so can't comment on reliability issues. However I had two main concerns about buying this mower which reviews didn't really cover. One was the cutting height. I like to cut my buffalo close and this mower more than does that. The lowest setting is like Verti-mowing, way too low.The second concern was how maneuverable it was in tight spots without the self drive engaged, and it is as easy as a normal mower to push and pull around. So happy so far.
