Two things makes this extraordinary and on thing makes it practical for EDC.The first thing is the saw. Deadly sharp, long enough to do the job, and did I say wicked sharp?Second thing is the awl. Yup, the awl. Never thought I'd use one before I bought this knife. Now it seems I use it every time I break or tear something on my equipment or need to drill out a bow for a bow-drill fire set. The awl itself is extremely well designed in that it is fluted on one side to extract waste (like a drill bit). The cutting edge is razor sharp and can be resharpened with very little effort. The third thing is size. It's thin compared to almost all the other models. Don't even notice it in your pocket until you need it. Having the small knife blade is also another bonus. I use that one more than the large blade every time I'm cutting through taped boxes or as my letter opened. It's funny how many thing you start using this thing for when you have it in your pocket all the time.In fact, I never ever thought I would use a silly can opener on a knife... wrong. Turns out it works about the same as the classic open everyone has in their home drawer. Now I don't even think about using the one from the drawer. Why bother? I just grab the trust Camper knife out of my pocket.Having said all this, I've still never used the bottle opener. Don't need them in this screw-top generation. And if I ever had a pop top I can just catch the lip on anything solid and pop the top off. Therefore, I would say that Victorinox could drop this one off the device and nobody would notice. Don't know what they would replace it with though. The knife has everything else you'll need.I've had a few of the others with more tools. And I also have a Leatherman multitool with just about everything one could ever think of. Turns out it's too big to lug around everyday. It's more a survival knife/pliers that you would carry on a sheath. Doesn't suit my formal wear at the office.Nothing really beats the Camper in my opinion so far.Cheers, Randy

After 36 years, while on the stream,I lost my Victorinox Economy Swiss Army Knife. That simple model served me very well and was a constant companion. This Camper model, is the same as the old discontinued Economy model except it has a toothpick and tweezers.Lite, simple, has two blades, corkscrew, SAW!!!!, can and bottle openers and is everything I need in a complete pocket carry knife.Highly Recommend this model and VictorixonBrian

Great knife. 2ed one. Wore out my first one. Had to get another. Good sport utility knife.
It took me forever to find the configuration of the Victorinox Swiss Army Knife that I thought would work best for both everyday use and wilderness adventures. I think this knife is that perfect combo.I have had one for a few years now and it has held up great. It comes sharp and ready to go and the stainless steel used holds a good edge for a long time. The two screwdrivers work great as I once put together a desk using only this knife!Really all you need when backpacking or on a basic trip is this knife, I've carried bigger fixed blade knives or multitools and just find this one to be perfect in size, weight, and functionality.
The Victorinox camper has a great selection of tools at a good price. I bought this in the transparent blue scales. The transparent blue gives the knife a very cool technical look. This will be a gift for my teenage son. It is nice to see that Altitude Sports carries some the the Victorinox knives in the various colours. I hope they carry more of the variations in the future - the various Victorinoxes make for a nice collection. This knife is neither too big nor too small. I have taken my Camper on canoe trips, hiking, car camping and it often finds use around the house as well.
This pocket knife is very compact and has all the tools i need. I particularly like the saw which cuts really well. I carry this knife around everywhere I go especially when iβm wandering in the woods or gone camping. I use it to cut wood, food, open cansβ¦ itβs very handy whatever you need it to do!
This knife met my expectations and more. First off it's the perfect size for a pocket knife with this many features. Speaking of the features, having two blades is a great safety feature. If the main blade gets dull or damaged, you always have a backup. Having a saw is always nice. Ideally you would carry a larger saw if camping, but this is nice to have for smaller branches or in case of emergency. The other tools are the usual ones you see on most Victorinox knives and good to have.In my opinion this is the perfect knife for hiking, camping, or any outdoor activity.
I recently bought the camper model knife despite having a similar model. The attraction was the saw and it is worth the extra money if you are using this for camping or other activities which might require cutting wood. The saw is sharp and cuts well. The other implements are all useful for camping of day to day life.
I own several models of the Victorinox Swiss Army Knife. Each one is of the same highest quality as the next. This model is no different. I own several of these camper models and use them regularly. They have a great factory sharp edge that will cut you easily. If you are not careful and do not use proper knife safety care, you may find yourself getting a bandaid very soon. Each tool on this model comes in handy. I use the awl to practice my homemade compass making by drilling a hole in the wood for my dowl pin. I use the knife to widdle down my dowl pin for the correct size. At the beginning of my adventures I be sure to test the operation of each tool. I use the knife to widdle down my dowl pin for the correct size. At the beginning of my adventures I be sure to test the operation of each tool. I find that the Victorinox oil works best for keeping each tool and its' mechanical opening positions at the perfect amount of stiffness. The tweezers are very robust for what they are and perfect for digging splinters out of my skin. It does have a wire stripper incorporated with one of the tools that I have never used. It appears to be able to except about 16-18 gauge wire. The can opener works great. If you are familiar with the US military P38 or P51 can opener than this will be easy to adjust to. I personally think it is easier because the tool is more robust-but I would use a rock if I needed to so I could eat. The key ringis small but it helps me with the "No looking" orientation while it is in my hand. My favorite tool is the wood saw. I just can not say enough about the performance if this particular tool. Very aggressive tooth pattern and very sharp. I have had no wood stop me from going theough it using this tool. It is also a fabulous ferro rod striker. I do not do that often but when I did it was WOW! The main blade is perfect pocket knife size and very sharp. The whole tool fits in my hand very comfortably. It cleans up well. The tooth pick comes in handy as well to get those small berries seeds out of my chompers. For an all around active knife carrying person, You will be very pleased with this product.
