For the price, the picture is nice and I have no dead pixels. However, the sound is so dismal that were it not for the deeply discounted price I paid, I would return it. It is sad to say it would not be an exaggeration to say the sound is _literally_ no better than a string attached to a tin can; (really... literally). It is is _that_ bad. For that reason, I decided to not use the HDMI cable from my computer to the screen; (which, when used, give you no choice but to use the internal tin-can-speaker system). Instead, I attached my Digital DVI cable between my computer and the Viewsonic Display, which allowed me to use an external speaker. I removed the sound bar and now have it laying behind this Viewsonic Display. *NOW* the quality of the sound matches the quality of the picture. [Short Version]: If you must use this Viewsonic Display (or any Viewsonic model within this price range), along with an HDMI cable, be prepared for _horrific_ sound in which my analogy of "a string and a tin can" is extremely accurate. The problem with using HDMI is that you have no choice but to use the internal tin-can sound system. NOTE: I tried a few of the Viewsonic models in this price range. Apparently, anything under $150 gets you a string and a tin can for a sound system. It truly is pathetic, and were it not for this issue I'd give the Display 5 stars... especially for the price.

HUGE & Fantastic Game Level Monitor
23 September 2020

Purchased 2 of these bad boys for our PCs. I'll be back for another to complete my at home animation creation abilities. The screens are almost twice the size of our last monitors, but have sent the refresh rate over the top. Had to switch from using the default buttons at the bottom right of the screen to the NVidia graphics card controls, but that enabled an even greater degree of ability to adjust the brightness, color saturation, etc. I'm currently earning a degree in animation and having two screens is a must, so I'll buy a third here very soon. My other tout is cost. In my comparison shopping, Staples was the best value and sincerely the lowest price out there. Definitely would recommend to anyone who wants a HUGE screen and a fantastic game level monitor.

I needed a replacement for my high-end 4:3 Philips monitor. The replacement needed to have VESA mount provisions so I could reuse the adjustable VESA mount on the Philips. I also wanted reasonable sounding built-in speakers. I've spent considerable time using the VX2452MH's on-screen adjustments, but the text quality and contrast fall short of the Philips' performance. My assessment has not changed after ten days of use. Other than that, the image is good and graphics and streaming videos look good. The sound out of the speakers is OK, but just lacking the fullness of even small external speakers. No surprise there, however the speaker volume with the PC and monitor controls fully high is a medium level at best and certainly never loud. Not acceptable if you plan on being more that a desk's width away from the monitor. One last thing is that the diagonal is 24-1/2" not 24" if that matters to you (The vertical screen dimension is the same as a 19-inch 4:3 monitor, and 1/2" shorter than a 21-inch 4:3).

I originally bought this to replace an Acer SB220Q as my primary monitor and was, at first, disappointed overall. The contrast was extremely high and tuning its settings through the OSD (whose buttons were extremely sharp and cut into my fingers) didn't help at all. Colors were slightly more saturated than I feel they should have been. Viewing angle was pretty narrow and corners were dark, and coupled with the high native contrast, it was difficult to view any dark images or games. There's a noticeable screen-door effect on plain white images. The speakers were super gutless and required the desktop audio to be cranked up to max to be audible, at which point it would lose any clarity and had no bass to it whatsoever. Its response time setting was supposed to reduce motion blur, but the tradeoff was that it added significant ghosting and choppy motion. Most importantly, it had a vignette along the right edge of the monitor that was annoying enough for me to RMA it under warranty. I received an older manufacturing date model as a replacement and the quality of the two monitors is night and day for some reason. The contrast and colors now match my other displays, including the SB220Q. I was able to get an almost 100% image match with very slight tuning of the RGB. The monitor's OSD buttons are more square and blunt and don't require as much force to press. The speakers are noticeably better. The response time setting now works with no noticeable trade-off like the ghosting before and makes high-speed games look great. Unfortunately, the screen door is still there and this one also has a dark edge along the right side of the screen albeit much less noticeable, but the improvement in the color was enough to warrant me keeping it. Its on-the-fly gaming mode isn't for me as it turns the image bland, flat, and washed out in favor of lower contrast that's supposed to make it easier to see in the dark for esports or tactical games or something. I recommend this for gaming, where you're likely to not focus enough on the image quality to notice its issues, but not for creative work or art as its color and light seems to be inconsistent between units.

I use the monitor for academic work, simple graphics design, and gaming. My expectations are relatively modest - as long as the image is sharp and there are some controls to fiddle with, I am happy. The quality of this monitor's graphics is acceptable to me, for a lower-price monitor. The size of the monitor is, of course, great - it is possible to display two letter-sized documents at 100% magnification side-by-side, and there is some space left over. The sound quality is extremely poor. Another difficulty with the monitor is that the top surface of the stand's base is sloped toward the user. This means that leaving a phone or a pen on it will cause these items to slide off. The decorative transparent plastic piece underneath the logo along the bottom edge of the monitor is ugly and unnecessary, and the designer should have left it out - I have painted it over because it is embarrassingly ugly.

Misrepresented description
7 September 2020

The description of this product is misleading. 1. The bezel is glossy. The screen is not. 2. "An arsenal of pre-set customizable visual modes keeps you ready for gaming and multimedia entertainment" There are no pre-set gaming modes. You need to make manual adjustments, and none of them decrease the fuzzyness of the display. 3. "MEGA Dynamic Contrast Ratio delivers sharp, crisp images" the images are not sharp nor crisp. If you adjust for sharpness, you get flicker. Whether working on documents or gaming, if yoiu want good resoluion, pay more and get a different display. This one does not live up to my previous experience with ViewSonic.

No serious complaints, just a few minor issues
5 August 2021

Bought this as a part of a home office setup for my mom. Color and refresh rates are good, but not stellar. Price is right, too, but a similar monitor I bought from Monoprice had superior color and clarity, and the price on sale was lower. If you could bring down the cost to something closer to $100, this would be a great value. For a home office setup that's not graphically intense, I can recommend this monitor. #sweepstakes

Superior Quality, Color, and Hardiness
3 February 2022

This monitor is quite wonderful so far. ViewSonic as a company has definitely earned my money and commitment. It was extremely easy to set up and get going, practically plug n' play. Color is amazing, quality is amazing. I really do appreciate the extent they go to make quality products, so yes. I do definitely recommend this product for those who want something that will last them quite a while, provides a quality experience, and has enough versatility to let you do what you need to do.
