Two years ago, I ordered this as my first dash cam after a driver plowed their minivan into my new car when they went out of turn at a 4-way stop. This dash cam gave me some peace of mind for a little over a year, until just after the warranty ran out. In that time period I had purchased an additional one for my wife, advised my brother to get one for his new pickup truck, and helped my dad order one for his semi. Their cameras are all still working thankfully.Mine started to reset randomly after the warranty was up, but there seemed to be a correlation to the temperature (at first). At this point I've tried using it with or without the GPS mount and with different cables and power sources, but I can't pinpoint the issue. I think internals of the camera itself are to blame, possibly a failure due to extreme temperatures. The camera frequently refuses to power on, or when it does power on, will reset at least once while driving. For the money, this little camera offers the best image quality for the price and even more so with the CPL filter. You can spend 3-4x more on a "higher-end" camera, but you're still sitting on a one year warranty with most offerings. The GPS mount connection pins are very easily bent, which is cause for concern every time you need to slide the dash cam off. Viofo's website is a little janky for grabbing the firmware, and at times they have forgotten to update their certificate so their site gets flagged as potentially unsafe/malicious. I've setup and installed several of these things at this point and that part is easy enough. When the camera has been on, I've never caught it not recording video. When there's an issue with the microSD card, it will beep at you until you've resolved it.I'm torn between buying the "value" oriented cameras like this more frequently and dealing with the shortcomings vs. a higher-end model and hoping for the best on longevity. The cost difference can be huge, with no longer guarantee of usefulness.

I bought this dashcam mostly following the web recommendations. So far I really like the readability of license plates and smooth video output. I bought this model specifically due to a bit narrower field of view, meaning it "zooms" the view rather than "panoraming" it, and also to fewer memory card issues according to the reviews (compared to other models). One thing I noticed is that image becomes more blurred at the edges (see comparison pictures attached, I extracted source frames in png format and saved them as jpg with 100% compression rate), but give the sensor size and speed it's likely inevitable. Everything in the 2/3 from the image center is sharp enough to be readable at a couple of car lengths. I'm using 1440p@60 fps mode at the moment as I found 1080p ... MoreI bought this dashcam mostly following the web recommendations. Lack of Wi-Fi or mobile app is not an issue for me, the cam is easy enough to dismount from it's GPS or regular mount base.Attached video example was recorded in TS format and converted to MP4 with standard quality. So far I can recommend this particular model as the affordable option with decent image quality.

I have had my VIOFO A 119 for a short period of time. Not really enough time to give it a proper rating. I removed the memory card today and viewed a number of videos that had been taken. I was sincerely amazed with the sharpness, depth and clarity of it. The sharpness of interior sound is equally amazing. Foul language and hateful speech should not be used while driving due to how clear the audio is. At this point, I would have to say that it is a spectacular buy.

Small unit, fits well behind the rear view mirror. Good image quality. Can read licence plates during playback on PC. A few settings to configure but nothing too complex. Needed firmware upgrade that very easy to apply. Included stickers for windshield and camera are a nice added touch. Using a SanDisk Memory card and it's working good! Only had this for a few weeks but it's doing what it's supposed to up to now!Memory Card:SanDisk 128GB High Endurance Video microSDXC Card with Adapter for Dash cam- C10, U3,V30,4K UHD,Micro SD Card-SDSQQNR-128G-GN6IA
I ordered my Viofo dashcam from Blackbox My Car during the pandemic and was a little concerned about shipping from British Columbia, since I've heard that some parcels have been slow to clear customs. I shouldn't have been concerned: my dashcam arrived in California in 3 days. All was in order, the dashcam (A119 v3) boasts truly impressive video quality, and the installation was quick. Well, it was quick only after I agonized over whether to do a proper install and hide the cord behind the headliner (I didn't because I want to move the unit between vehicles). My only (mild) criticism pertains to that installation. First, the Viofo installation manual is simple to point of useless. Fortunately, BMC provides its own tutorial online, as do many others on Youtube. ... MoreI ordered my Viofo dashcam from Blackbox My Car during the pandemic and was a little concerned about shipping from British Columbia, since I've heard that some parcels have been slow to clear customs. First, the Viofo installation manual is simple to point of useless. Fortunately, BMC provides its own tutorial online, as do many others on Youtube. Second, BMC tossed in a few freebies to make the install process easier--but in doing so they forgot to explain to this novice how these items were to be used. Apart from extra plastic mounts and adhesive (which were useful and self-explanatory), there were also a couple sheets of pre-cut adhesive felt and a clear plastic square attached to backing. There were no instructions for either of these. I figured out that the clear plastic was a static cling to which the camera mount could be attached for easy removal later. But I never figured out what the felt squares were for.My overall feeling was that BMC went above and beyond to make sure I got an excellent product quickly and at a competitive price. But they may have overestimated my savvy as a DIYer!
I have two of these running separately for the front and back of my 2012 Prius v. Haven't been running them long, but I've viewed footage from both and they seem very clear. I'm using them with CPL filters. The settings require some initial tinkering, but it's mostly intuitive. If I had to pick a least favorite aspect, it's that they don't set time/date/timezone automatically despite the GPS module. Additionally, the time zone selections are just presented as "GMT +/- #" which would be much clearer and easier with additional info in the labels such as "CST", "EST", "PST", etc. The lack of auto setting also means that if I need to coordinate the front and back footage for any reason, they will read slightly different times since it's almost impossible to synchronize ... MoreI have two of these running separately for the front and back of my 2012 Prius v. Additionally, the time zone selections are just presented as "GMT +/- #" which would be much clearer and easier with additional info in the labels such as "CST", "EST", "PST", etc. The lack of auto setting also means that if I need to coordinate the front and back footage for any reason, they will read slightly different times since it's almost impossible to synchronize them by yourself. I'm sure I've done them well enough that at most they're minutes apart, but ideally they'd be the same down to the second.Still, the GPS labels in the video, speed, etc. seem accurate and make me feel confident that I will be okay in the event I need to provide footage. They reassure me they're working when I turn the car on by playing their brief, inoffensive startup sound; and when I turn the car off the "REC" light goes from solid to blinking to indicate they've entered parking mode. The hardwire kits also ensure they won't drain the 12v battery too much if I don't use the car for a while. The use of mini USB connectors seems odd in the 2020s, and the only real reason I can see why they were chosen is that they're relatively thin to be able to fit through the hatch grommet, which was easily the worst part of running the cables. I do think there should be some other solution to both make pulling them through narrow grommets easier, and also to use more common, modern cable types. But, since the mini USB in my case is only providing power and not data throughput, I guess it's not too important. The main issue is that extensions for mini USB are scarce (I'm pretty sure mini USB is all but gone from the consumer space for anything other than dashcams, and for good reason) and I need to use one for my rear camera since the "extended" hardwire kit is still insufficient for my needs.Viofo says they don't recommend using extensions but I literally have no option since I needed 1440p 60fps front and back.My nitpicks aren't quite enough to subtract any stars, though. They work well enough so far despite my gripes and I'm fairly impressed for the price point.

I had been using the previous version (VIOFO 119 Pro) for over 5 years until the front camera stopped working. During that 5 years, the camera had to adapt to temperatures ranging from - 45 to +110 degrees. The cameras were originally installed in a 2015 Subaru Outback and then into a new Outback purchased in 2021.My wife was in two accidents within the last 18 months. Thanks to the 2 Viofo 119 Pro Dash Cams, we had video evidence to prove the other drivers at fault. The product is great I use it in my personal vehicle and in my working vehicle as well. The night vision capabilities of this cam is outstanding. Makes me think why I haven't upgraded earlier and the price is just right. I got the suction cup to go with it and it works great. I like how the lens can be adjusted up and down since my working vehicle being a semi its windshield is at a different angle as my personal vehicle makes adjusting a breeze. I got the polarized lens filter as well and never took it off. It is on whether it's day or night it doesn't effect the recording of the cam. I highly recommend this product from BlackBoxMyCar the people there know what they are talking about, know the products very well and are really helpful.
What I like:- very reasonable price- image quality is very good, even at night time- the package includes a 2 port 12V adapter so I can also charge my cell phone at the same time- the buttons are clearly marked and easy to use, so changing settings is a breeze- GPS module keeps the date and time current- so far after using it for about 1 week, no video files have been lost or corrupted- updating the firmware to the latest version was easyWhat could be improved:- the package should include a suction mount as well as the permanent mount. An electrostatic sheet is included in the package, which is really nice, but I prefer the suction mount
