Dissatisfied with this purchase

I purchased my vitamix several years ago, and have been incredibly pleased with it, I use it pretty much every day!My original tamper ended up with a crack which then turned into a hole where the food I was mixing could get into it. So I reached out to vitamix and purchased a new tamper. The tamper was a reasonable price and was mailed quickly! When I received the new tamper the plastic was much thinner than my original, and it was slightly longer. I was concerned that it would hit the blade while in use so I had tested it out with the machine off first. Sure enough, the tamper hit the blade without any kind of pressure or force.I am back to using the old tamper, I just have to be extra careful to wash out all the blended food particles from inside the hole.

Ended up with sharp plastic in my smoothie

I was drinking my smoothies when I realized I had hard plastic bits in my cup. I used the tamper as directed with my 64oz model and it was chipping away little by little. Once I figured out the culprit of the fine black matter, i also noticed water sloshing around inside the tamper. EW! So for months who knows what was growing inside and then leaking back into my smoothies. I suffered gastrointestinal issues for months not sure why super bummed that it’s not better quality. Customer service hasn’t responded to my 2 emails in 2 years!!

Great company, wonderful service!

I made the mistake of accidentally flipping the switch when I was putting my Vitamix back under the cabinet (oopS! I forgot to unplug it first!), and while the original tamper was in it. It destroyed the tamper. I immediately went to the Vitamix website and purchased a new tamper, which came in only a couple of days. I can use my Vitamix again! This company has always been wonderful to work with, and I love their customer service. They know what it's all about!

Helpful product, but be careful!
10 August 2022

When I first started using Vitamix I wasn't a big tamper fan. But eventually I realized how much the tamper improves blendability. I don't use it every time, but when the going gets tough...But be careful! I have made the mistake of using one with the lid off and gotten a blender full of plastic.

Perfect Vitamix Tamper
9 May 2020

First, I love my Vitamix and this is the perfect tamper, just like the one I accidentally ruined. I forgot to put the top back on and went to mash and tamper the frozen bananas down. Well guess what, they are not kidding, this is one powerful machine! It literally ground the tamper bop like butter in a matter of 2-seconds. That is no joke of the time. As quick as I realized what I did, it was ruined and finely disintegrated in the bananas. Vitamix 101 mistake, big lesson learned, and to remember to put he lid back on! The Vitamix blades were fine, tamper ruined, but still this is the BEST kitchen appliance I've ever owned. It may be pricey, but worth every cent. I LOVE my Vitamix, and you need the tamper! Better yet it's all made in the USA!

Same Same
14 January 2021

After destroying my original tamper in a pumpking pie filling making extravaganza (there may have been alcohol involved), I ordered the LowProfile Tamper direct from Vitamix not only to ge tthe same fabulous quality I was accustomed to but also for the price! Other online retailers were selling these at an astronomical price; citing covid as the reason no doubt. After finding a coupon code for free shipping I was ecstatic! This little gem was shipped quickly and I was back to making vitamix creations in no time at all. Thanks Vitamix, you saved a relationship!

Second one damaged again..
14 January 2022

Thanks to the Vitamix Customer Support Team, I was given with a replacement tamper after my original tamper was damaged. However, on my very first use of the replacement, it got destroyed.By doing some research on the internet, I found out how you have to use this tamper only when the lid is closed because apparently the length of the tamper and the hole in the lid are designed to allow the tamper to reach very near the blades without hitting them. Obviously I was using it in a wrong way and that has resulted the damage.I am so disappointed because I was not informed about this in the first place. I believe this is very critical information that should have been included in the product detail section at the time of purchase.

Too short
27 March 2019

When I bought my short containers “back when” they came with a longer tamper that could reach corners. This one is not as effective. Same complaint for new large container Vita Mix too. The old style movedfood out of corners for better blendingWould like to try another top of lineblender after being with VitaMix for 20 years. The changes they havemade do not impress me. Rather it seems they are just trying upsale the consumer. I think the oldermodels are much more functional.

Water Inside
8 February 2020

Spent $600+ on new G-Series 780 after the motor on my ancient Vitamix began to fail. Last week I removed the tamper from a drawer to make a smoothie and heard water inside the tamper.I am unable to locate any cracks or openings in the seams, but there is quite a bit of liquid inside the tamper. I can only imagine what might be growing inside and I am completely disgusted.I checked reviews on-line and this appears to be a problem for others as well. What a shame that what is supposed to be a premium product is outfitted with cheap plastic accessories that could actually be harmful to your health. If liquid can get in, surely it can get out...and contaminate whatever is in the mixer.Vitamix, you need to do better. This is ridiculous...

Works great as it was designed for
12 March 2023

I am unsure why people give this item a bad review. Make sure you purchase the right tamper for your type of blender and keep length in mind. You also do not need a lot of force to use it. Just work quickly and patiently to make nut butters for example. Some people mention the plastic being thinner than the old design. I only know this current design and it works perfectly fine. It is super light weight.
