Put on my 23mm wide (outside dimension) rims, and they inflated to 29mm - pretty fat, but fit great in my 2017 Fuji SL Elite. Ride great, and took them up and down Sassafras Mountain (SC) and over to Brevard (NC) via See Off Mtn & Becky Mtn Roads. Be sure to not overinflate, as with a lot of volume effective pressure at the rim wall is very high even at 90 psi! May stick the 28's on my 1985 Bianchi Trofeo as it has lots of clearance. Rode the 25mm on the local race pace group ride and no problems. My high end tires are 320 tpi, but at 150 tpi these are still a nice ride (remember that a lot of high end tires are at this or below...127 tpi being a common thread count). I am an old dude (over 60) and have ridden a lot of different bikes and tires and wheel combos...so am pretty happy with the price and performance of this tire...though I have only been riding them for about a month (the 28's) and have only 4 rides of about a total of 200 miles on the 25's.

Bad set of tires?

I purchased my 5th pair of vittoria rubino pros, since they have been a very good reliable dependable tire. However this last set I purchased was the worst tire I have had. In 31 days I had 5 flats. I had to restock my tube inventory. I hadn't had a flat in months with my old set of rubinos. With the new set I had a flat the second ride with them installed. Then I had a simultaneous front and back flat at the same time. Then I had a rear flat 2 times on 1 ride. I checked the tires for anything that might be stuck like glass or something. Nothing. So not sure if just this set was bad. I installed an old pair of gp 5000s I had sitting here. No flats so far. So it's not the rim tape or the wheel.

These are a great hard wearing puncture resistant tyre that is also pretty easy to get on and off the wheels. My last ones have done over 3,500km and still have reasonable life left. Only 2 punctures in that time. Only replacing as 1 tyre got a bigger cut when I didn't avoid a piece of glass - wary of the glue repair job! Excellent price from Bike Inn, although delivery to NZ was slow.

Defective Tire
24 February 2022

These tires were easy to mount and set the bead using my air compressor. I inflated my tire and rode my bike around the block. The next morning when it was time to walk out the door for a ride, the tire was completely flat. I had 2+ oz of sealant in my tire.I pumped it up, filled up my sink with water, and immersed my wheel/tire in the water, only to see tiny air bubbles coming up from the sidewalls - all around the tire. Pulled the tire out of the water, and you could feel air coming out from the sidewalls. I don't know how this could happen apart from it being a manufacturing defect. This is not my first time mounting tubeless tires, and I'm returning these ASAP.

Disappointed in this tire
6 June 2021

I have a set of lightly used Rubino's on my back-up road bike which have been fine. So I purchased a second pair for my primary bike.Into the second ride on these new tires, the front tire sustained a pinhole puncture which would not seal. The puncture would seal with added sealant and inflated to 80 psi, but once ridden would open and spray sealant. After several attempts, I have removed the tire and will look for another set.More disappointing is the non-response from Competitive Cyclist. I have sent text message, email and chat to see if there is a warranty or return option. Finally got a response by chat - no warranty/return/exchange.I recommend not buying this tire.

Great all-round bargain road tire

I was looking for a tire to make my Kona Rove feel a bit sportier on the pavement, without losing a comfortable ride on our sometimes rough and usually rock-and-glass-strewn highway shoulders. I did quite a bit of research on various websites, comparing that research with the stock available at MEC. I decided to give the Rubinos a try, and I feel that i made the right choice for me.I've been using these tires for a few weeks only, so I cannot comment on the long-term durability. However, so far, I've been very impressed with what this tire does for its reasonable price. However, so far, I've been very impressed with what this tire does for its reasonable price. I decided on the 28mm width, because I use my Rove in a variety of ways, including rough, pot-holed pavement, highway shoulders with lots of rock, glass, and bits of metal, paved pathways that cross roads, without any rounded curbs, and even short stretches of dirt and gravel. The only types of road I've found so far that this tire does not handle all that well are soft dirt and loose gravel. Clearly, for that, a bigger/wider tire would be better. For every other type of road, this tire has performed very well.It is noticeably quicker than the 35 mm tires that came with the Rove, which I guess is not a surprise, but what was a surprise, is that I gave up almost nothing in comfort. I also seemed to gain in durability. I had two flats already this year on the original tires, one even with Mr. Tuffy liners installed. The Rubinos, on the other hand, even without Mr. Tuffy liners seem to take rocks and glass without a complaint. Besides their reliability, I have also found these tires to feel stable, and to corner very nicely.I cannot comment on how these would compare speed-wise with a lighter, more race-oriented tire, but for general riding and training on not-so-great roads, I've found these quick enough for my needs.I have the 28 mm wide version, and keep the front inflated to 80 psi and the rear to 100 psi. I weigh about 175 pounds, fully dressed. These pressure settings seem to provide the right compromise for low rolling resistance with enough compliance on the road imperfections. All in all, I am very pleased so far with these tires, and would recommend them to anyone looking for a reliable general purpose or training tire, at a fairly low price.

My favorite So Far
31 August 2020

Been running tubeless for 4 years, on Giant SLR rims with 17mm internal width. I like these Vittorias better than the Giant Gavias that came with the bike, and better than the Hutchinson Sector 28s I mounted after I wore out the Giants. Why? 1: mounted easily without needing levers. 2: Sealed quickly with a little boost from the compressor. 3: Immediately held pressure overnight. 4: Riding them feels fast and smooth. One caution: these tires run narrower than the labeled size. 25mm measured just under 23, so I returned them and ordered 28s, which measure about 27. Only 150 miles so far, so I can't speak to durability. I have the same question as Giorgio regarding pressure. I find they work well at 65 - 70. Can't seem to get an answer to why the manufacturers all ... MoreBeen running tubeless for 4 years, on Giant SLR rims with 17mm internal width. Poor Tire Molding Quality Control
10 May 2023

Just mounted the new 700x30 Rubinos on my Jamis adventure bike. When returning from a 30 mile spin I noticed that both tires have an issue with the molding process quality. The issue is apparently the two half's of the tire mold did not align accurately at the center line of the tire and were off set approximately 0.5 ~ 1.0 millimeters. This means that one side of the tire is higher or lower at 180 degree intervals, making the tire exhibit eccentric motion (wobbly) at higher speeds. I'll be contacting Competitive Cyclist to see is there is a manufacture's warren-tee for defects. There are good tires over-all and I will continue utilize Rubinos on my bikes provided Vittoria gets their manufacturing quality corrected.

Smooth tire
6 July 2023

So far I am loving these tires. I went from a 25cm to this 30cm from rubino. It fit with no issues. I am running with tubes on a TR rim at about 80 PSI. It absorbs the bumps much better than a 25cm. Also, no loss in speed.

Solid Choice
7 July 2023

This is my second set of these, not the fastest but a good trade off between speed, comfort, grip and protection. Can ride them all year round in all weathers on club runs and coffee rides. Can usually be found for a reasonable price. Top end tyres are lovely but the prices these days are very high and Surrey roads just trash them. Easy to seat and set up using just a normal track pump.
