I get they have to be soft of the rotating feature would be ripping hair out but an extra head would be awesome. Will see if there's a brush replacement with stronger bristles because that would make this useable for me.

In the past ive purchased VS big hair, this looks like its replacement as big hair is lo longer avail for purchase.Frizz Defense Its nowhere near as good. The motor does not have the strength to rotate brush head adequately and isn't hot enough to dry last bit of dampness hair. (Please note hair is already 80% dry, as i pre dry) I have very fine hair and unfortunately this product is underwhelming. I imagine people with thicker hair would find this frustrating.

I have very fine hair that is thinning out fast. I was thinking it's almost time for a wig or a hair topper until I discovered this product. I am not the most coordinated person so when I first used it, the oscillating brush grabbed my hair and seemed to get stuck. If this happens to you, don't panic it's quick to turn off even while laughing. You can also use the product without the brush oscillating. After a few tries I got the hang of it and I can't believe the difference it makes to the overall appearance of my hair. Now instead of my hair sitting flat and being able to see my scalp, it has some volume which hides how thin it is. My hair straightener has been retired, this is my go to product. Love it!

Great dryer
13 August 2021

I have been using this model dryer since 2011 after I damaged my shoulder and couldn’t hold a brush and dryer separately. I love how it smoothes my hair and the style lasts for days…a touch up to dry hair in between washes works well too. Over the years the newer version added an extra brush which was great, so 2 sizes now. A further newer version also has the frizz free component. Yes I’ve owned them all. My disappointment and the reason I haven’t given 5 stars, is that the brushes do not last long, the bristles are soft and soon mis-sharpen. I have contacted VS regarding purchasing replacement brushes at least 3 times and have never received a reply… So I have had 5 dryers in 10 years …a consequence of repurchasing the whole unit just for the brushes. I still love ... MoreI have been using this model dryer since 2011 after I damaged my shoulder and couldn’t hold a brush and dryer separately. Great first hot brush
5 August 2022

I bought this on sale as my first hot brush and i'm blown away by the results! i have medium length fine hair that is very frizzy and doesn't hold styles well but this brush has changed that and i use it almost every day. I've found the smaller brush perfect for a wave and i use the larger brush when i just want some body. I love that the brush spins in both directions which makes it so much easier to use. I've got my morning routine down to 10 minutes with this and find my hair is still looking neat towards the end of the day. I'm so glad i took the plunge, it really does deliver a style that only my hairdresser can give me.

I really love my Big Hair
18 November 2022

I have had my Big Hair brush for about 10 years and it is still going strong! I have curly/wavy medium length hair and it the best way I can achieve a smooth finish that lasts for days. I read other reviews saying it is too slow - my process takes less than 10 minutes: I generally put a glaze product in my hair while it is still wet to help tame the frizzies and I always use moisturising shampoo and conditioner; I dry off my hair slightly with my regular dryer first so my hair is damp but not dripping; then I section my hair and start with the bottom layer gradually getting to the top layer. I finish with a light spray of old fashioned hairspray. A final point - the two brushes can be easily washed since they are detachable and their hard slip over cases have ... MoreI have had my Big Hair brush for about 10 years and it is still going strong! I can't be without it and have a second unopened one in the top of my cupboard in case it gets discontinued!

IT WORKS!!! Experiment to use for your hair type.
24 April 2022

This device can create a perfect hair salon 'blow out', just experiment to learn how it will work for your hair type. I have very fine, very, very, very thick wavy hair prone to frizz. I purchased the device about 6 months ago and attempted to style my hair from an almost wet state. No surprise, it didn't work and my hair became tangled. After consultation with my hairdresser, I discovered that the best way to do any styling, is to dry your hair until it is about 90% dry. I personally wrap my hair, turban style, many times, in a couple of towels. No rough toweling, just let the towels soak up the moisture. Next, I blow my hair almost dry, with my VS 3Q brush less hair dryer (which is just a brilliant device!) I have very thick hair to below my shoulder blades. It is important to section the hair and keep it in manageable units. I brush the hair section, then use the VS frizz defense styler to style. I give it two swipes using the low heat, then use the 'set' function. I am 54, so my hair texture can be quite wiry. I'm blown away by how smooth my hair becomes after using this device. I have used VS styling devices for about 20 years and found they work exceptionally well. I personally believe that VS devices perform as well, if not better than other, more expensive brands. I have a VS 3Q hair dryer, straightener and this Friz defense styler and all work exceptionally well.

Powerful but super gentle on my hair
12 October 2021

I bought another type of these from Instagram 2.5 years ago and used it so much I wore the bristles out! I decided to try a different one this time. This unit is so gentle. There is no drag through the hair and my hands barely feel the heat. I was not used to it and my first reaction was 'oh no....its not going to work'. It took a while to get the hang of using it but the result is even better than my last one and my hair is going to thank me for my kindness! One word of warning for long hair - be really careful with the spinning function on the brush. TAP the button and take your finger off straight away. It's so powerful and could be dangerous if you get surprised and leave your finger on the button like I did. It just keeps twirling - pulling the hair in more and ... MoreI bought another type of these from Instagram 2.5 years ago and used it so much I wore the bristles out! Single-hand styling for a smooth finish

This is a very affordable rotating hot air brush from VS Sassoon. Instead of having to hold a hair dryer in one hand and a circular brush in the other, this is a two-in-one product. Hot air is pumped through the vents in of the ceramic brush. There are two brush attachments, one at 38mm and the other at 50mm. It has two heat settings (up to 1000W output) plus a cool setting, and supports dual-direction rotation. It uses ceramic to reduce frizz and add shine. It can also add volume if you use the rotating action. This is not designed to blow dry your hair from wet - you're supposed to use this when your hair is already 80% dry. It's not as hot as a hair dryer so it would take ages to dry from scratch. It's mainly a styling tool. It's mainly a styling tool. You can style your hair without the rotating action if you just want a sleek, smooth look; but if you want bouncy waves and volume, you need to use the rotating action to wind the tool from the ends to the roots of your hair and hold it briefly to set.In terms of usage, it looks bulky but is quite lightweight, I can still manage even with some RSI in my forearms. It is easy to reach the buttons when holding the handle without having to look at the controls. As I have quite dry and damaged hair, this has been great as it doesn't operate at a high temperature, but still hot enough to style and set. I have been mainly using the smaller brush near my roots, since I have chemically straightened hair the the new growth is frizzy and wavy. This works a treat at smoothing out those untidy bits. There are many other uses and you can create salon blow-dry looks with it.Overall, this is excellent value for money at a RRP of $69.95 and a worthwhile investment. I'm very pleased with it.

has everything I needed

love this. I have curly hair that goes umbrella mode in humidity. this product has an orienting head, which is perfect to hold the hair from the roots and to pull while blow drying it. works just like a normal blow-dry brush. its hot so it does flatten my hair. the only thing that I couldn't figure out is that I have to use a flat iron for final touches. it is hot, so make sure to use heat protector or serum before you start. I love it, and recommend it.
