Brilliant piece of kit. No issues setting up, just open the legs out , fit the bike, plug in, login to whatever system you like and you’re away. I’ve had no issues with the kit at all, except one signal drop once, but to be fair, that could have been my network etc so I can’t point the finger at kickr, what was nice when that happened though was that I could just switch over to Bluetooth, it was mid ride so I barely lost any data because I was able to switch over.I would totally recommend the kickr, I used to have the kickr core a few years ago, left cycling and have now come back to it, thought I would have an upgrade, and it’s certainly a great upgrade. Worth every penny.Adam

As a serious Zwift racer, required to produce dual recording I was looking to upgrade my Kickr Core to a more accurate trainer. The new V6 ticked all the boxes and I wanted to remain in the Wahoo eco system so I ordered Saturday and trainer arrived Tuesday. All good so far, set up was quick and easy and after a software update I was ready to ride.First ride and 3 dropouts within an hour, disappointed was an understatement!Connection via Wi-Fi or Bluetooth made no difference at all, a quick google search and I wasn’t alone.Wahoo blame Zwift and Zwift blame Wahoo etc etcA few days later Wahoo released a new software update and since then it’s been all good.Despite Wi-Fi being one of the new features/selling points, I’ve purchased the “Direct connect” as I need ... Excellent trainer - feels like I'm riding on the road but a lot safer. Using the available apps makes it very enjoyable and the time goes by fast. The Wahoo Kickr V6 is easy to set up and the legs fold up nicely for storage when not in use. The Wi-Fi works great and so does the Bluetooth connection. I had no problems setting it up. Instructions provided were very easy to follow.

I like to make myself with new "toys" - anything that I can incentivize me to work out and get more data on my performance. However, this smart trainer is much better than I had anticipated - it truly is making me better.Set up was more complicated than I'd like, but that's only because I had to install a cassette compatible with my bike transmission. In the end, I had to divide and conquer and use the ANT+ connection to connect to all wahoo devices (kickr, tickr, cadence) and bluetooth for audio (I use a soundbar or my wireless earphones). This said, these are limitations of the connectivity technology, nothing that wahoo could ever solve (other than providing BOTH options: bluetooth and ANT+)After a couple of sessions learning about all these challenges, troubleshooting and testing, everything is working as expected and with no issues... and I'm loving it.
The Kickr v6 is a solid trainer for those looking for consistent power accuracy. Dual power recordings is always within 1% accuracy with my other power meter. Important for competitive eRacing. The race mode feature is a nice addition for those needing that immediate responsiveness in Zwift. The trainer itself is stable and comfortable.
Updated from a "dumb" JetFluid pro trainer. This is quieter, more realistic and feels more representative of outdoor riding in difficulty terms. Love the ERG mode for workouts. Was straightforward to set up both assembling the unit and updating software. Using with Zwift platform on windows based laptop but also tested with an Android tablet and mobile both of which paired quickly. Much quieter riding this than a wheel on device. FTP has dropped a little but others have reported the increased accuracy makes them honest about their numbers! Loving it so far.
I bought this trainer some time ago, was impressed with the presentation up front, the trainer had issues with software from the beginning but customer service was very good and replaced some sensors to correct the problem 3 times, the trainer have great difficulty maintaining a consistency on speed and connectivity with sensors, often cadence drop out, the resistance changes on it own from say 200w to 900w in the middle of the rides, often disconnecting from programs and starting all over again, the wahoo fitness software that came with it is nice but does not respond to wahoo trainer very often, you have to manually change levels and restart the application to get it going again as per example you have it set up to train on level, resistance, erg, and sim window, ... I love everything about this trainer, especially since coming from the Snap [also a great trainer]. The Kickr is definitely a step up. The Trainer works flawlessly with my traditional QR road bike, however, my thru axle bike is a different story. I have a 12x142 thru axle road bike that I had intended to use on the trainer. It turns out the 12 x 142 adapters on the Kickr only provide an industry non-standard 141mm axle width. Go figure? Every 12x142 hub that I have measured is exactly 142mm wide, seems logical. To make matters worse, the drive side bushing is not machined deep enough to correctly fit into the dropout. Wahoo quickly replaced the bushing with a correctly fitting model, however, the 141mm width remains unchanged. When tightening the thru axle you can ... Wahoo quickly replaced the bushing with a correctly fitting model, however, the 141mm width remains unchanged. When tightening the thru axle you can see the frame deflect and pull the rear derailleur out of alignment. Wahoo says this is normal and that I should adjust my RD accordingly. Wahoo should provide a simple bushing to correct this issue, but they will not. It would be nice to see them remedy this flaw in future models. 12x142 = 142mm NOT 141mm.
There is many great things about the Kickr 2018, the ride is realistic, the ride is silent, the pairing is quick and easy. But this is a €1200 machine (€1700 with Climb), so this ought to be perfect. And it is not. The erg mode is a 50/50 right now. Sometimes, it works very well. Sometimes, it fails to provide resistance. Especially during Zwift warm ups (where power increases every 15 seconds), it starts off well, and then fails to increase resistance, but also completely „breaks down". I can only paddle at 120w or so from then on. Only fix I was able to find thus far is unplug and restart the Kickr completely. That is an annoyance and shouldn't be happening. My biggest demur however is the 100% failing rate during longer Zwift rides. On the weekends, I do three to ... That is an annoyance and shouldn't be happening. My biggest demur however is the 100% failing rate during longer Zwift rides. On the weekends, I do three to five hour rides on Zwift, and have my set up (Kickr 2018 + Climb) go completely on simulation mode (so it simulates every climb and decent by increasing and decreasing resistance and raising and lowering the front end of the bike). After about 2 hours, every single time, this stops happening. The Kickr Climb stops doing anything (whether being at 0% or at an incline) and the Kickr only provides resistance up to 250w or so. But the simulation is turned completely off. So, off the bike, unplug and it continues working. This however only works for 30 minutes or so. That basically makes competitive Zwift racing impossible. Since this is the most expensive Smart Turbo Trainer I know of, and people buy this for Zwift racing, I think this is a reason to make a customer unsatisfied. I hope you get this fixed quickly. It should be doable via Software. I use the Kickr on Mac and iOS.Best,Lars.
The combination of the KICKR 2018, KICKR Climb and Headwind linked to Zwift has made for a great experience and kept me riding in the poor weather. The addition of the Climb really added realism and made it a lot more fun, especially when using Zwift. The Headwind was expensive for what it is but I managed to get a good discount. It works very well and somehow seems to cool the air it pumps out. Despite the price I think it is a great device.I did have issues with the first unit which developed the dreaded clicking sound. The replacement unit came relatively quickly but had a slipping belt after a few rides. But in all honesty they have been great and very helpful. A UK service centre would be nice but perhaps not enough volume to justify this. Perhaps a deal with a few good bike shops around the UK could be a possible solution? Most good bike shops have a workshop with capable mechanics. I sullied with parts and tools this would be mutually beneficial in my view. There do seem to be some manufacturing quality control issues but I am sure Wahoo will get on top of these.Despite the issues a great product.
