This portable hard drive has been working flawlessly for the past two years since I purchased it. I’m constantly using a whole lot of data and the transfer cable that’s provided makes the process pretty easy. I’m quite sure the pricing for this product is cheaper now than it was two years ago. Western digital is a good and reliable brand. Go for it

I needed to find some more space since I was getting low on the internal 500GB drive. This was the same price of that infamous "Prime" web site. Plugged in the drive, formatted again to be sure it was clean and moved all of the dozen or so games and apps to the drive. I now have a clean system drive and enough room for dozens more games. The load speed is about the same as before when running off of the internal drive. Occasionally, the Xbox won't see the drive but a restart solves that problem. All around, a decent product.

I bought this hard drive as I thought it was a great deal. I primarily used this hard drive for backing-up my video clips for video editing. However, after a month of use, my unit began making a clicking sound whereupon my Premiere Pro clips would go missing. I would still recommend this product to someone looking for lots of space and speed, At the same time, be forewarned that portable hard drives can fail if you stress them too much (i.e. using video clips from a port. hard drive on video editing sequence). I learned this lesson the hard way. : (
My Xbox One only has the 500GB hard drive, I was running low on space so I bought this. I don't think you can go wrong for $100. Now I have plenty of storage for my Xbox, and with it's compact size, it stays out of the way. I moved all my games and movies that I don't play or watch regularly to the external hard drive. My theory is keep the stuff you use often on the main hard drive and then put the stuff you don't access as often on the external drive, for optimal performance. I honesty can't tell a difference in operating speed with games that are on the internal hard drive versus this external hard drive...which is great. I know with past computers/external hard drives, the external is usually slower than the internal. Doesn't seem noticeable for this, which is ... MoreMy Xbox One only has the 500GB hard drive, I was running low on space so I bought this. I don't think you can go wrong for $100. I bought this external HDD to help supplement my new SSD when my old disk failed on me. For the price and getting 2TB, it was worth it. I'm able to keep all of my games and music on the drive while being able to keep my solid state available for the operating system and more integral software I need immediately at boot up.One downside is that even though it's the recommended hard drive for gaming storage, I do find it takes some time when I first launch a game to get everything up to speed and running. I knew this would most likely be the issue going in, and overall it doesn't detract from it's value. This is a great hard drive and easily worth purchasing for anyone who needs a companion for their internal drive or to keep expanding space as needed.
The drive is working great and now I can continue to download the free Gold games each month. Some reviews that I read said that the Xbox One will detect it and display instructions on how to set it up. But I never saw the instruction screen so I followed the below steps and it is working like a charm.1. Press Menu (start) and select "Settings"2. Select "Manage Storage"3. Select the storage device and select "Format for Games and Apps"There is a setting also to have all new games default to using the new drive for the install location if you want. The one minor negative to the drive/Xbox one combo that I have found is that the light on the drive goes into a slow flash when the Xbox is off regardless of which boot method you have the Xbox configured for ... MoreThe drive is working great and now I can continue to download the free Gold games each month. Not a big deal but it does light up the wall when the lights are off in the room..
Plug & Play, formatted the hard drive to my Xbox One hard drive, went from 93% Full, to 23% full in terms of hard drive space. Lots of extra room and the ability to have multiple games on my Xbox One. This works well if you have children and you purchase digital copies to avoid the hassle of small hands destroying your precious physical copies. I have my physical downstairs, in my basement in a closet, stacked nicely inside totes to avoid those small hands from destroying my classics. I love my children, but they destroy everything!
I initially bought this external hard drive for xbox use. BUT little did I realize that this thing was lightning fast and has a lot more than the average storing space for your average joe! I doubled the storage space and bought another because lets face it, sometimes you just can't pass up such a great deal. I will be creating a personal cloud with the new 4GB version of this in order to keep from paying other companies for their service ;) i suggest anyone looking for a little more than average storage to highly consider this !
