With simple but amazingly communicative illustrations (how much can one author/illustrator express with piggies eyebrows alone?!), this is our family's new favourite book. To read this is to fall in love with Elephant and Piggie and to want to collect them all.

This is a witty book with a most engaging premise. Children at the early reading stage find it seductive and laugh delightedly when their familiar characters peer out of the page, realizing they are being read. Gerald the worry-wort elephant is a great creation, balanced beautifully by calm, down to earth Piggie. A great read for both children and adults.

I recently bought ten "Elephant and Piggie" books for my five year old grandson. He loved the books, enjoying their humor, even laughing out loud at some of the silliness of these two unlikely best friends. He requested hearing the books over and over. What a wonderful experience for both of us.

LOVE Mo Willems!!! All of Mr. Willems series' (knuffle bunny, pigeon, and piggie & elephant) have helped my 8yr old autistic son with his reading. He was never a fan of Dr. Seuss and it wasn't until we came across Mo Willems did his interest in reading really take off. Plus, not only are the character's facial expressions absolutely hilarious, they aide my son in recognizing expression and the meaning behind it - something the autistic community struggles to understand. Thank you Mr. Willems in helping to foster my son's confidence in his reading and in himself!!!
Very simply written story that will always get a giggle from my four and five year old. Also one of the first books the five year old could read by himself.
More words than I expected but still a fun book. My preschool students enjoyed listening to the story and discussing the different parts of the story. They were very excited to tell me something that they knew, that dealt with the story.
I bought this book originally for my son in a book store because it had won a readers award. I read this book once and my son who was 5 at the time loved it and asked for me to read it again. We fell in love with the Elephant and Piggie series and we now own them all and read at least one to three books a night in addition to other books. We love the series and recommend this book and others in the series to other beginner readers. I bought this book as a gift for my son's kindergarten class.I love that Walmart offers a chance for you to pick five books for 25 dollars, that's a deal for hard cover books and it beats buying the series indivdually and it saves you several dollars per book. Shipping to my house was also very reasonable.
This book does not have bright colors or rhymes in it. Each page only has a picture of the gray elephant and pale pink pig in various poses (just a white background, etc.). Personally, I found it to be a little boring and more suited for very young children who are just learning to talk but because of the pictures I can't imagine it would hold their attention.
My granddaughter & I both love Mo Williams books. Highly recommend! They are all very clever & funny - usually with a good lesson slipped in ;-) This one is one of our favorites! I thought I had already gotten this book for her. When I discovered that I hadn't, I ordered it right away. We've been reading Elephant & Piggie books for a long time. We really enjoy the Pigeon books, too. Now that she is 5, she can read most all them herself!
This is our new favorite book! When I first read this book to my children we laughed and laughed until our stomachs hurt! I made all of my older children read it as well. They rolled their eyes, "Mom, you're making me read a kids' book?" but then they laughed and laughed as well. I just discovered Elephant and Piggie books, and I absolutely love them. They teach excellent values of friendship, sharing, kindness, etc. etc. but even more importantly, they are brilliant and clever; surprisingly fun and truly hilarious. This is also an excellent price on Walmart, and I have started buying extra copies of this book to give as birthday gifts. I highly recommend this and other elephant and piggie books.
