The first one I bought didn't work. I found a tiny screwdriver and replaced the battery. It still did not work. I put the original battery back in it and returned it to the store. I exchanged it for another one that I opened in the store to make sure it powered on. It seems to work fine. I've cooked a couple of things that needed the temp measured.

We purchased this from the local Weber store and were so excited to use it with our BBQ, however, it was showing really high temperatures, us assuming the meat was ready, however it was never ready or even close to the suggested cooking time. When we compared it to a traditional meat thermometer it is almost 25 degrees higher, meaning our meat is always underdone. Very disappointing, we were starting with this thermometer and then going to move to the more expensive one however after how poorly this is working I think we will go a different brand.

Bought this from a local home store. Best instant read digital thermometer I’ve owned. But once the battery died, couldn’t get it working again. Tried 4 different batteries from 4 diffferent packs.No luck, it crapped out. Too bad, I really liked it.
Second purchase in past 18 months with defect out of the box. First unit displayed about 50 percent of characters. Second unit dead on arrival. Will not maintain power on displaying temperature after trying several new batteries including the original battery. Love Weber grills and other weber accessories but this thermometer should be avoided.
If I could give this thermometer less than one star I would. It is a piece of junk. This is the second one I bought, the first one only lasted a few months and stopped working, replaced the battery and did no good. Then I reluctently bought another one. Had this one less than 6 months and the same thing. Stopped working, replaced the battery and nothing. Save your money and frustration and do not buy. Use one time and throw away. Customer service said there is nothing they can do without proof of purchase. I did not steal it so that in itself is proof of purchase. I did not save the receipt.
This thermometer is not worth the money. Using it casually, it got a little wet near the sink. A few moments later, the LCD screen started failing. By the end of the day, the thermometer stopped working. Even after setting the thermometer out for a few days, it still did not work.I bought a new one and the same thing after two months.Never again…
The fact that this is an instant read is just perfect. It means less time over a hot BBQ waiting to see the temperature of the meat! The fact that there's both centigrade and Fahrenheit is really useful tooThe only slight thing that I would comment on is the fact that the probe is a little bit short and also is not quite as pointed as previous thermometers that I have had. Not a big deal at all, just a difference that I noted
This version of the thermometer is difficult to change the battery. Instead of sliding the battery cover off or removing a screw on the cover, you are to squeeze the battery cover together. My wife and I could not get it off despite the fact we both have strong grip strength; she is a former gymnast. I tried to use different wrenches and pliers and I still failed. I threw it away and went back to my old analog thermometer. I do not what they were thinking.
I received the Weber instant read temperature probe as a Christmas gift from my wife. Worked well the first 5 times till I’ve accidentally bumped it off the kitchen bench top. Dropped 90cm/35 inches. Not a scratch on it at all but the internal screen has a small crack in the upper left corner of the glass and now the screen is unreadable. I would not recommend this product purely because I know for a fact, on the first drop it can and will break. See attached photos.
