Wellness Core Grain Free Indoor Adult Chicken Dry Cat Food

Rey is a 1 year old stray I brought home in January. He enjoys rubbing his face on my toes, staring threateningly at the bird, gazing into the fish tank, forehead kisses, being held like a baby, and mealtimes. He does not like being put into cat clothes, being left home alone, and this cat food. He wouldn't eat it. After 10 months together, I've learned he likes meaty beef and chicken wet foods. He seems to prefer those over salmon and tuna blends. He also enjoys chicken or turkey dry food and treats. Which is why I'm puzzled. He wouldn't touch it. I tried putting it side by side with his regular food, he ate his regular food and ignored this. I tried mixing it and he just looked at it. I ended up giving it away. The only other thing I can think of is.... he also turned his nose up at Purina Proplan Classic Chicken for kittens. He ate regular Purina Kitten. It is weird. I like the brand and the idea behind their products, but my history is that my cats don't seem to be interested.

I was so impressed with this kitten food! I started incorporating the food in with their other food to where they eventually were just eating this full time. I have 5 kitten and the momma cat and they had no stomach issues at all. I was very impressed with the ingredient list too. When I say this stuff has no fillers, I mean it really has no filler ingredients! The kibbles were small enough and shaped just right that I felt it was far easier for the kittens to eat. I would recommend this to literally anyone who has kittens or a breastfeeding momma cat. I went and purchased a new bag when this one ran out. I fed them meaty chunks or shreds, so I think this threw them off a little. But it seemed like good quality to me.

Absolutely LOVES Wellness Core Food! He Loves all food but he High Tailed it to this the second I opened the bag Of Wellness' Core Kitten Food! This has great ingredients and nutrition for growing Big MaineCoon Boys like Guy. A breed that stays "kitten" age for a very long time, so they need the extra nutrition in their diets. Guy says "Thank You Wellness Petfood!" Definitely buying him more when this runs out! I would honestly HIGHLY recommend this food for your Floof! Especially if theyre picky or need more protein in their diets. It's not the cheapest cat food but it's not super high end to where I wouldn't be able to purchase it without guilt for spending so much afterwards either. We all know those brands..Great product! I have never seen my cat eat his food as fast as he ate this Wellness Core dry food. I felt bad when the bag was gone, I could tell he really likes it, it also seemed to fill him up. We only give him a certain amount of food during the day as he is a hefty boy and would eat till he gets sick. But with this food it seemed to fill him up. With the ingredient list having meats as the first ingredients, without all the by products and fillers I truly feel he was satisfied. The canned wet food was the same way, we don’t feed him canned food often as then he won’t eat the dry, but we may start doing it once a week for him. We looked for this cat food and did find it at petsmart. I started to mix the Well was good with Fanta’s regular food. She loves Wellness Core and one morning I did not mix it and she just looked at the bowl until I added the New food. What I am scared about is that she has stomach issues I have been testing for a cure. She hadn’t thrown up in over a month with her new food and everyday she was eating the mixed food her stomach got upset. She is a fan of wet food and ever since she was diagnosed with an overactive thyroid I’ve made wet food a more regular part of her diet so I am happy that this test wasn’t just dry food. I followed the directions on the campaign card and mixed the food, a little at a time, and they did eat it. But that didn't help much. After 6 days of mixing food I put out 2 dishes, one for the old food and one for this new food. The new food would be virtually untouched while their old food was completely gone. At this point they were doing what any good cat does - they would start crying for their food dish to be replenished and knock over the empty dish, still not touching the new food. Now they will eat it if I only give them that food, but they are not crazy about it. I don't want tons of filler that is beneficial for their health, but I try to tick both boxes. ☆☆☆ out of 5 because even though they don't love the taste, it does appear to be nutritious for them. The real question - Would I buy this for them again? I would but only if I am trying to get my cats to eat less. I know that may sound bad, but they tend to overeat and giving them a food they don't scarf down may help them to not eat too much. Cats are very picky creatures. I change up their food quite a bit though still, but have never had them repell the food dish like this when given a choice of 2 different kinds. Still not a total loss though.

A stable in our house hold

Good quality biscuits which my three cats all love. Been buying this now for over 5 years and have noticed that unlike other brands less quantity is required which helps manage their weight being indoor cats. Plus one of my cats has a sensitive stomach which this one helps to keep under control. Have noticed though that the size of the biscuits are smaller then before. As a result one of my cats who loves his food will just swallow without chewing causing him to throw up a few minutes later. I've had to split his meal with a 10min break in between.

Cat didn't like it

My cat used to eat the kitten version of Wellness core and loved it, so when she turned 1 we switched to this expecting she'd like it. And while she was interested it in, after a few days she decided she didn't like it. She'd literally spit it out and only eat it if there was absolutely nothing else. She's also thrown up a few times since we started on this - she is shedding so it could be unrelated, but she'd never thrown up before. We've switched to Orijen and she's loving it. We gave the rest of the bag to another friend who fosters cats, and it sounds like her cats aren't a fan of it either... It's a shame because my cat did like the kitten one a lot.

Packaging doesn't last

The food is pretty good - I choose grain free and Wellness is renowned for this; but the Core range certainly doesn't have the taste appeal of other options (they eat it, but you can tell they don't love it). I've bought three bags of Core range food - all have had the plastic zip to seal the bag peel off one side so that the bag can't be reused; usually around 2/3 of the way through. I also had one bag where they'd accidentally fused part of the bag together, so when you openned it it tore the plastic lining, again compromising the seal. I've had to decant into plastic containers each time to keep the food fresh, which is frustrating.

Saved my cats life.

I'm from The Netherlands and the packaging looks a bit different here but it's the same product. One of my cats has severe IBS/allergy, she was hurting from it and refused to eat, this has been going on for almost a year. I have tried just about everything, other foods with mos and fos, I've tried rawfood/barfing, nothing helped. Initially I had bought the Core food for my other healthy cat but she was drawn to it as well and I thought lets give it a try. Already after two days I could see her stool improving. The Core catfood seems to have just the right amount in combination with the other high quality ingredients. My cats tummy is no longer bloated/aching, she is no longer burping, her stomach seems to have settled. Fingers crossed it's for the long haul.
