Wera 950/9 Hex-Plus HF 1 L-Key Set

Beautiful like a box of candy.Still, some weird issues with the setThe biggest 3 sizes are rarely used on the bike.Every time I try to slide any of the hex keys from the smaller size section the plastic cover is open since you are pushing on the blue plastic lock.

A quality tool that works exceedingly well!

I have bought a multiple of different Hex key sets over the years. This is the best set out of them all of them!The set is contained in an efficient holder. Removal of individual keys is a little difficult due to friction, but on the other hand this means that they won't fall out of the holder.The use of individual colours for each different size key is a fantastic time saver while looking for the right size while you are working.

Brilliant quality.

Brilliant quality hex key set bought to help with the loosening and tightening of those hex screws put in awkward places. The length is ideal, the colour coding for the sizes is also a brilliant feature. I would recommend these hex keys to anybody. The design on the end of the key (the ball end) is brilliant at getting to those really difficult places. They will also come in very handy when repairing my car.

Great

Although I have not used them much yet they seem good quality. The larger sizes have a sprung ball bearing on the long end to hold a fixing which seems like a great feature. Pleased so far, hopefully they will last well

Overpriced

Most of my previous Allen keys have been freebies in flat-pack furniture sets; so at £35 for a set, I'm expecting something pretty good. Unfortunately there are a few niggles.Firstly the coloured surrounds might look pretty, but because they are perfectly round they become extremely slippery with oily or greasy hands.Secondly a related problem is that they are quite tricky to extract from their holder/organiser. Whilst they won't fall out easily, there must be a better solution to a holder which requires both hands to tug an Allen key free.On the plus size there is absolutely no evidence of damage and the ball ends with retaining ball bearings work well.I've been using these for about 6 months now and I can't say I'm blown away by them. Rides bikes? Get this!

If you do any type of work on a bike, you need to invest in this. Don't use your multitool to work on your bike at home!The ball end works great for tight spaces, flat hex end great for leverage. It prevents stripping hex heads! The worst things to happen is to strip the head of hex bolts, especially the small ones since the metal is so soft. I have yet to strip a hex head with this set.The different colours makes it so easy to reach for the correct size. I'm switching between 5mm and 4mm most frequently and knowing at a quick glance is a TIME SAVER! I've used non-coloured in the past, and I will never go back.This makes for a great gift for a bike rider, they will appreciate lots when they actually start using it on their bikes!

This tool smacks of quality!

I had been meaning to buy a quality hex key set for some time now having been let down by cheaper bits of kit over time. This set comes beautifully boxed and on opening absolutely smacks of quality and durability. I love the colour coded sleeves and the substantial clip that locks everything into safe possession. It is certainly not a tool I would lend to anyone for fear others will like it too much! Yes, not the cheapest but you'll feel happy this is in your tool box!

Top end allen keys

Very High quality Allen keys. The hex section is ground from bar so a very high level of precision. The ball end worked perfectly and no screw heads were chewed up.Colour coding is very useful and makes picking out tool on bench much easier.There are cheaper allen keys, but I cannot afford to damage hex socket screw heads on my equipment, so paid for top end quality.

Torqued

Probably some of the best Allen Keys Wera has come up with. The head design gives good grip on even stubborn fasteners, and the colored sleeves add a bit more grip on messy jobs and make the tools a little easier to find when you put them down where you are not supposed to. The ball ends are still a little brittle but perform better than Weras stainless steel set.

Worked where others failed

I had to remove a crank from a spin bike. The nuts were very tight, must have been machine tightened.Tried other hex keys, socket wrench with a hex attachment etc. It wouldn't budge. The socket wrench one slipped, and I thought I had rounded the hex screw.Well, this Wera ones are great quality. Feel heavier in the hand and were slightly harder to engage into the screw but once in, they weren't slipping at all. Took a bit of force but they didn't snap or damage the screws. Even managed to remove the slightly rounded one.The way they're designed most of their force is on the flat area and not the corners, so they don't slip or damage the screw.I can't comment on the reliability, but I would imagine they will last years, and I'll certainly get use out of them ... MoreI had to remove a crank from a spin bike.
