Pros: Solid build. Looks nice on kitchen bench. Big 4L capacity reduces the amount of time to refill. Does what it says. Cons: Dispensing hot water is too slow and it is not smooth. When you choose boiled water the first 10-15ml is always not hot enough. The water tank lid is kinda wobbly. Buttons need a while to get used to (maybe too complicated to elderly or house guests). Water tank cannot be taken out completely which means there’s no way to clean it throughly (considering it’s strongly recommended by manufacturer that you descale monthly, I’d love a water tank that can be removed from the machine to clean and get rid of any descaling solution left in the tank completely). Overall: It’s a bit disappointing considering the price is almost twice as my old one. ... MorePros: Solid build. Looks nice on kitchen bench. Big 4L capacity reduces the amount of time to refill. If you live in a smaller household or you’re okay with a smaller capacity, look for other cheaper ones.

I only wish I had bought one sooner , excellent appliance . Easy to fill from a jug , dispenses water without any splashing , tea is very good . Having read the other reviews I did do the vinegar rinse through and dispensed the cold water until I could no longer taste the vinegar . No plastic taste at all and it’s so good to just make a cup of tea without waiting for kettles to boil . I’m older with arthritis in neck and shoulders so no more lifting heavy kettles . Much more efficient to dispense only what you need . Highly recommend this appliance

Bought this to replace an old Kambrook equivalent which is no longer made. This one is much better, with touch controls suitable for those with limited hand function, and a choice of temperatures and cup sizes easily selected. The child lock operates after a few seconds non-use, so you have to touch the lock button for 3 seconds before use, but that avoids kids getting boiling water over themselves. Settings include unlimited amount of water if you want, for really big mugs, and unheated water if required. That might help when a recipe calls for a small amount of water and you don't want to get a load coming out the sink tap. 4 litre capacity would last a single person all day. You have to use a jug to fill it but the lid is large and easy to open. I'm almost ... MoreBought this to replace an old Kambrook equivalent which is no longer made. Was sick of waiting for the kettle for a single drink so went looking for a portable hot water dispenser. Found this gem here at Harvey Norman with good reviews so got it as an early Xmas Present. It does what it says it is meant to do and is even faster than the 7 seconds advertise for getting 100C water to the cup from when you press start. Love the fact you can set the temperatures from 45C for kids drink, 65-75C for Coffee, and 100C for that cup of tea (while everyone else drinks coffee). The volume feature works good too as not always needing 300ml of 100C water. Drip Tray easy to remove, empty and clean.
I bought this because I'm in a wheelchair and was having accidents trying to make myself beverages in the kitchen. It's made my life much safer and easier. I put it by my bed and it fits nicely on my bedside table. It holds enough water for 2 days and I can either make myself tea/coffee or just set the temp to room temperature when I want plain water. I use a lot of large mugs, which are too wide at the base to safely sit on the drip tray, so I just took the drip tray out completely - it's fine that way, just leave the cup under the dispenser for a minute or two after using to catch any dribbles. Now for some of the cons - I was disappointed to discover that the water tank is not removable like it is on some smaller dispensers. The whole machine is too bulky and ... Now for some of the cons - I was disappointed to discover that the water tank is not removable like it is on some smaller dispensers. The whole machine is too bulky and awkward to unplug it and stick it under the tap every time it needs topping up, so you really need to invest in a large jug to fill it. The machine has blue lights on at all times (more of them when running) and beeps very loudly when it finishes. This is probably fine for kitchen use but not ideal when using it in the bedroom or in the middle of the night!
This is my second purchase of this particular item. Makers may have upgraded slightly as it spits less and is more consistent with pouring out measured amounts of hot water. This instant kettle is attractive and relatively compact so it fits neatly and unobtrusively into the corner. Not designed with a removable water tank (which holds 4 litres) so a jug is required (not supplied) to refill the tank. The controls are easy to figure out and if you use the same setting all the time, all one has to do is press and hold unlock and then the "go" button. Really easy.
Two main issues with this unit. 1 the child lock is a pain, it requires 3 second press to unlock and if you dont get your order in quick enough it locks again after about 5-10 seconds, should have an option to remove the child lock or at least give you 30 seconds before it locks again. 2nd issues is some cold water comes out first before the hot water, we usually just let this go into the drip tray before putting the mug under but our last instant hot water machine was only a tiny bit of cold water compared to this one. Minor issues is the preset volumes of 100ml, 200ml and 300ml. 1 cup is 250ml but there is no option for this. Would prefer they had 200ml, 250ml and 300ml would be better suited (if you want less than 200ml you can easily wait 15 seconds and stop it ... Other minor issue if you turn it off at mains to stop it wasting power on standby with panel lit up it loses your pre-sets and you need to click through the options again!
First off, 5 stars to Harvey Norman for quick delivery and wrapping in recyclable paper (vs other electronics retailers who ship in black plastic). 0 stars to Westinghouse for packaging in polystyrene - there is nothing in this unit that could not be safely shipped in cardboard. If you expect boiling water out of this unit, you'll be disappointed - measuring with a digital thermometer the 100 deg C setting will get you around 94 C - 98 C dependent on how much water you are drawing. If you drink green tea, the 85 C setting is perfect for brewing. The volume settings aren't much use - 200ml is not enough to fill a mug and 300ml is too much, and there is no setting appropriate for filling a small tea pot, so we end up using the manual start/stop button. This unit could also be improved with a removable water tank - although they'd probably have to make it smaller and a 4L tank is a good size. If you want to use this for herbal, green tea or coffee, this unit does the job, but I would not recommend for black tea - it just isn't hot enough.
I bought my Westinghouse hot water dispenser a few weeks ago. I love it! The easy of instant hot water the technology which isn’t to difficult to work and the safety lock etc are all great but the 100deg setting for the hot water is way off the mark!! After many complaints about coffee not being hot enough, I have now checked the 100deg temp with a kitchen thermometer and it is only 82deg! (Several checks done) The 100deg temp in the manual states ‘approximate’ but the next heat level down is 85deg so I’m thinking my dispenser must be faulty. I will take it back for a replacement.
Looks great sitting on the bench and only needs topping up every few days. Great for arthritis, not more lifting heavy kettles. The temperature is perfect for coffee and tea. Filling a pot with water is also easy as the drip tray comes away to allow most pots to fit under the dispenser. It's also very quiet, so in an open plan living area, it's not distracting. Overall, very happy with our purchase and have no hesitation recommending this as a replacement to the traditional kettle.
