For the price this is a high quality razor. Seems to be made of good long lasting materials. Like that this DE razor is long handled. Almost all DE razors at this price point are short handles. This razor delivers a quality shave as well. Provides a shave smoother than the King Gillette heritage DE razor even. Did a shave comparison between the two and found that this Schick razor gives the better shave.

Great for sensitive skin and preventing razor burn
22 November 2021

I bought this a little over a year ago. Took a while to get use to using it but overall it is a Great product. I like the all metal construction and metal blades means there is no plastic waste. Also very affordable to replace. My favorite feature is that it doesn't shave so close as to cause razor burn and ingrown hairs. I have sensitive skin and with this razor I never get razor burn.

Love the Classic Razor very much!
31 March 2021

I'm 60 now and I learned to shave on my Fathers safety Razor. I don't like disposable razors and don't seem to get a good shave with them. I saw this razor on a sale e-mail and had to have it! It shaves wonderfully. I feel like I've finally get a close shave, and after being in the military for 26 years and shaving nearly everyday, as well as packing light, disposables were nearly my only option. Thanks for a Great Razor Schick! After what Gillette said about men and "toxic masculinity", in a commercial, I VOWED to never touch a Gillette razor again and haven't. This is Shick's Rolls Royce in my opinion!

Not for sensitive skin, maybe not for beginners either
31 May 2022

This was my first safety razor. It gave me so much irritation, razor burn, bumps, nicks, weepers, etc. that I nearly gave up. I tried many different brands of blades. I tried a few different soaps and creams. I tried pre-shave products (one oil, one cream, and even just hair conditioner). I varied my pre-shave prep. I learned to find the right shaving angle, to apply no pressure, to map my beard, to shave only with the grain, etc. None of that mattered. Shaving with this was a horrible experience for me no matter what I did. (And it still is, even now that I know what I'm doing.)Then I went out and got a Merkur 15c. You may look at that and think "that has an open comb, it looks aggressive"... but look more closely and you'd see that it has negative blade ... MoreThis was my first safety razor. Shaving with this was a horrible experience for me no matter what I did. (And it still is, even now that I know what I'm doing.)Then I went out and got a Merkur 15c. You may look at that and think "that has an open comb, it looks aggressive"... but look more closely and you'd see that it has negative blade exposure, i.e. the tip of the blade sits slightly behind the shave plane. It's actually very mild. Finding the right angle is easy because it won't cut at all unless you're within the right range. And that explains why the Wilkinson was such a bad experience for me: it has a *positive* blade exposure. The tip of the blade actually pokes slightly beyond the shave plane (the line from the top cap to the safety bar). You can shave at just about any angle you want because the cutting surface is always exposed... even at a bad angle, and even if you apply zero pressure. If you have average skin and/or you are an experienced safety razor user, then this might be a decent razor for you. It's certainly built fine and seems to be decent quality. Mine seemed like a well-made piece of equipment with no problems whatsoever (which is why I gave it 2 stars)... but if you're new, have sensitive or rough/bumpy skin, etc., look elsewhere.

Quality at a reasonable price point
20 February 2022

I've been using safety razors for quite a few years. One of the things I like about this razor is it's weight. The razors cutting angle is perfect, and a bit on the aggressive side, which is great for me personally. This razor gives a comfortable and close shave. There is a learning curve with this razor, though. The further from the razor's top you hold the razor, the more pressure you put on your face and subsequently, the closer the shave. Since the handle is quite long, it's easy to hold your hand too far down the handle. I found doing this leads to nicks. The blades that came with the razor are perfectly acceptable day to day, however, after pairing this razor with Astra super platinum blades, I was more impressed by the shave. I expect this will be my go to razor for the foreseeable future. Very happy overall. I look forward to shaving with this razor, which is a good thing.

Smooth and more versatile than 4-blade razors
27 February 2021

The open/close mechanism works slick as silk. The single blade is much better for my throat area. Again, smooth as silk. This area challenges the four-blade razors. And when it comes to trimming sideburns, this is precise and sure. In these Covid times of doing our own haircuts, the single-blade razor is far better at doing the back of your neck. And, hey, it ain't bad for just doing your whole shave if you use shave lather. The only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is that there is no adjustment for depth of blade angle as my previous single blade razor provide.

Smooth shave_Bad Handle UNCOFORTABLE 4 Small Hands

I really like the smoothness that this razor brings out with the Astra SP blades that i am more familiar with in rotating between various vintage razors (both adjustable and fixed), but the handle doesnt have grip, and was extremely uncofortable for my small hands with skiny fingers.A friend with big hands and chunky finger did however rave about this razor, saying he particularly like the handle and how it fits in his hands. (this wasnt the case for me, but i will explain bellow)The surface finish looks realy smooth and shiny. The spirals in the handle look nice, but for grip, i believe it requires a criss cross pattern just as vintage razor handles do. Aside from slipage it was really very awkward for my small hands. A vintage Fatboy is thicker and less comfortable than a Gilette Slim razor, but the short handle of the Fatboy sort of buts up into the hand. I cant do that with this modern long handle razor. If it wasn't for the handle, i would recommend this for most people, but due to the handle i say it might work for some people.
