Wilson Clash 98 tennis racket features the smallest headsize of the Clash franchise. The 98 sq-in head delivers laser-like precision for players who consistently hit the sweet spot, while the very head-light balance reduces swing weight and adds control through the swing. Clash is twice as flexible as the leading racket, without compromising stability for powerful and precise shots, this is made possible by combining two key technologies. Features include Freeflex technology has been engineered to bend with any swing style. Carbon mapping allows the frame to bend on any swing style which provides longer dwell time, increased accuracy and control. Stablesmart is unique frame geometry which has been designed through digital simulation to provide stability and power without compromising flexibility. Parallel Drilling - provides a consistent, more forgiving stringbed and increases sweetspot dramatically. Ideal for players who want explosive power and precision. Racket is supplied unstrung and without a cover. Recommended string Luxilon Smart. 16 x 19 string pattern.

I had a Clash 100 Tour and now I got the Clash 98. The 98 provides quite more accuracy than the Clash 100 tour. On the other hand, the Clash 100 tour feels more comfortable hitting ground strokes and has a lot more spin. Love both of them. I'm still figuring out which of those will be my primary racket. Right now I'm tending to stay with the 98.

Cushy feel, gentle on the arms, good power and precision

This is a very different feel compared to typical rackets. There is a lot more flex in the shaft, which translates into a comfortable and cushy contact and extended pocketing of the ball. That's how this racket generates additional pace and spin by extending dwell time. The soft contact will benefit anyone looking to move away from harsh hitting frames or have injuries to recover from. I found this racket did not change the precision of my shots noticeably. The increased spin also put some more control on ground strokes.

Good racket, horrible quality control.
14 March 2022

I've been a Wilson fan boy for a bit but the quality control is absolutely horrendous. I purchased a clash and it played amazing. Purchased two more and none of them play the same, nor do they have the specs mentioned. One is unstable and light, while the other one ended up being a log. Swing weights are clearly much different and customer support doesn't give you many options as it falls into their "tolerances."

Great Racket, Incredibly Easy on the Arm
13 February 2021

I've played with the Clash 98 for about six months now. I love it. Great feel and control. Just enough power. However, by far the best thing for me is how arm friendly it is. I've had chronic arm (shoulder, elbow, UCL) pain my entire life. The Clash 98 has pretty much eliminated that problem. And to top it off, it's pretty cool looking too. Great Job, Wilson!

I have been playing with Pro Staff 97 for almost 2 years. I am completely happy with legandery Pro Staff 97 which is 315gr. My friend has Clash 98. By this way, i had a chance to try it. As a first impression; i thought Clash 98 is much lighter than Pro Staff but it is 310gr. So, not much lighter actually but it makes different feeling somehow. I think, that is great. It is very easy to get used to it and swing it. I really like Clash 98 while playing. On the contrary, its paint work is not succesful. Although my friend is very attentive about equipments, there was many chips on its paint. Another negative impression which is very subjective is the grey color at the middle. I did not like its color, It looks cheap for me. Pro Staff is much more attractive with its red and mate black. I hope Wilson will improve paint work quality to solve chiping. At the end, I want to have one. Clash 98 will be my primer racket but probably after paintwork improvement. ( I am almost sure Wilson will solve this at short notice.)

Soft with control

Very soft and easy on the elbow for one handed topspin backhand. Yet, there is decent amount of control.
