Wilson Pro Staff 97L V14 Tennis Racquet 4 1/4
Wilson adds another chapter to Pro Staff 97L v14! As with the previous version, this sub 11 ounce racquet brings the seductive feel and precision of the Pro Staff experience to the rising intermediate player. With its zippy sub 315 swingweight, the 97L will not only help you swing faster when loading the ball with pace in spin, it will also help you hit shots on the run and react quicker at net. According to Wilson, this update brings back that classic Pro Staff feel with Paradigm Bending, a layup technology that pairs a flexible shaft (for feel) with a stiffer perimeter around the head (for stability and power). This racquet also has FORTYFIVE technology, which strategically aligns the graphite fibers at a 45 degree angle to increase lateral bending through impact. The payoff is increased dwell time and pocketing for greater command over the ball. Like the previous generation, this racquet also has String Mapping, which combines denser spacing in the center for control with wider spacing at the margins for greater comfort outside the sweetspot. Ultimately, by putting Pro Staff precision into a lighter package, this stick continues to be an obvious option for improving intermediate players looking to rise to the next level. The updated feel is a nice bonus.

Love this racquet. Made a switch from Yonnex ezone 98. Not that the ezone is a bad racquet but the pro staff 97 v14 gives me greater control overall particularly the backhand slice. Power and spin wise, I find the Pro Staff provide sufficiently on both departments. Overall Im happy with the purchase and thank you Tennis Warehouse for good quality service as well.

I have been playing with Pro Staff since 15 years, this is the first time I don’t use the RF, though. However, from the very first time I tried it, I could feel the control and touch were amazing. My shoulder thanks le for those 25gr less, by the way.Ps: Miss you, Roger!

I have played with the RF for 4 years. This is the first raquet, and I have hit with a lot of them that has made me keep the RF in the bag. Good power and feel. I am still getting used to it but so far think I have found my new weapon. It looks awesome also! 4.5 - 5 doubles player

I have been using both the pro staff 97 and X for over a month now and here are my thoughts. I thought the X was reminiscent of the 97 but I do give the 97 a bit of an edge when it comes to control. I didn’t have to adjust my swing that much with the 97, but that’s cause I’m used to the RF 97. Both rackets have the classic feel but with modern advancements. At 11.1 ounces, the weight feels perfect, especially if you’ve been holding the RF97, we all know that thing is heavy 😁. As a coach and longtime pro staff enthusiast, my opinion is that the pro staff X is more suitable for intermediate and advanced players looking to add power and control. The 97 is more suitable for advanced players looking to add stability to their game.
This order was for a replacement racket under warranty. Everything was so easy and smooth. I GREATLY appreciate Wilson’s attention to the customer! Thank you uVERY much for everything throughout the entire warranty claim process!
If you're looking for something between power and control, this is it. I used to use Pro Staff 97 and wanted more power. Switched to babolat pure aero which gave me huge power but I lost control and finesse. Finally the pro staff x give me that combination of both.
I felt v14 is an improvement from my prostaff97 I 4 years ago. Serves improves even when I grip the racket lightly. Volleying is better and able to control ball distance better. Highly recommend.
Racquet has great stability, will feel the joy while hitting the forehead and has a great control during backhand slice. Weight is properly balanced . A great racquet with perfect balance of speed spin and control.
As a longtime Pro Staff player and now in my late 60's, I bought this assuming the extra size might help reduce my mishits AND help mefrom having to do all the work on shots. Based on two matches thus far, a solid move. It does still play & feel like my 97 V13, but easier on serves and driving forehands and backhands. Some adjustments required on softer shots admittedly but that'll come with time.
Don’t know much about the v14. I have the v13 and absolutely love it. The thing I am worried about is that the page has no information on specs? The only way to tell that this is the lighter version is the word Team in the title. Come on guys, you can do better than this! How is the consumer supposed to make an informed decision??
