Good starter set

I bought this set a few months ago because my teenage son started playing golf, and I thought I'd join him. I had not played in 20 years and was not sure how much I'd play now, so I didn't want to spend a lot of money. After reading several reviews, this set seemed just right. It includes every club you need, comes with a bag, and at a reasonable price. I also liked that you could get different sizes and shaft flexes, without paying extra. (I'm 6'2" and got the tall version, which I like.)Golf is a humbling game, but the irons are designed to help beginners, and they are definitely much easier to hit than other "blade" irons I've tried. After about 20 rounds, the irons look pretty beaten up, with lots of scratches and gauges. I don't know if that is because of me or the quality of the metal, but it's mostly cosmetic and doesn't seem to affect performance. I've also noticed that the bag is showing some wear, with one seam coming undone, but I wasn't expecting superior quality. I'm guessing I'll get another season or two out of them and then upgrade, but I think that's the point of a beginner set. As some reviews have suggested, you might at least want to upgrade the driver and putter. I replaced the driver, though the difference is marginal for someone of my ability, and it's easy to spend more money on one driver than for this complete set.

Great Irons!

Are there better ones available? Absolutely but they will cost you double this set for the irons ONLY. The woods however are just so-so. I really didn't like the feel of the driver and its not quite the quality that the irons are. I did end up replacing it with a Cobra F Max and it dramatically increased both my accuracy and to a lesser extent, my distance. The 3 wood is slightly better but very similar to the driver. You definitely should have at least 1, probably 2 more clubs in there eventually to fill the gap.Overall, a very nice, quality made set for a great price. Id have paid the cost of the whole set for just the set of irons.

Great clubs
26 February 2023

I’m 44, 65” and haven’t played in 2 years due to multiple knee issues to start. So after doing some research into a new set that would work for me to get back into the game, I bought the Senior set to help. Very pleasantly surprised in the how they play! Although I’ve never played graphite irons before, I noticed that you may want to choke up a bit to account for the added flex and not chunk it. I swapped the driver out for a Launch Pad V1 and added my Odyssey chipper and putter, and it’s been great. So far I’ve played 3 rounds and have outhit guys playing much more expensive combinations easily.

Great set & value!
6 October 2021

Purchased these a few months back to get into the game of golf. This set has been great to learn with and is pretty forgiving considering where I started and where I am now.Pros:- Great price/value; you won't find many starter sets that offer this many solid clubs in this price range- Great set & performance; plenty of options to get you down any length of hole with a reasonable amount of shots- Incredibly forgiving if you're not that consistent. Even with a high handicap (30+) I get pretty regular carry distances with each club- Bag is lightweight and comes with a comfortable shoulder strapCons:- Included bag leaves much to be desired regarding storage space and pocket size, though I guess that's the tradeoff for being lightweight- Although ... MorePurchased these a few months back to get into the game of golf. At least in my limited experience, I didn't realize what I was doing wrong until I spent a great deal of time at an indoor range that gave me more data on my swing- Driver and woods feel fragile... the shafts are a bit whippy even for my "average" club head speeds, and I have already had to replace my driver as it cracked on the head. To be fair, that may primarily be my fault for fatting the driver a few too many times.- Putter is eh. I may not know what a premium putter should feel like, but this one definitely feels.. hollow and soulless, if that makes any sense. In conclusion, I absolutely do not regret getting this as my first set. Though it is very tempting to start upgrading the rest of the clubs after replacing my driver, I know that these could last me for at least 2-5 years before I outgrow them. This set has also made me quite the believer in Wilson gear. If I had to do it again and my budget was in the same range, I absolutely would pick these.

Great set for average golfer…
7 March 2023

I bought these with the +1 length and it makes all the difference. Irons hit nice and smooth, hybrid is easy to swing and the 5W is my new favorite club. I was surprised that the driver shaft wasn’t as long as I thought it would be, but it strikes well. The weight on the putter makes for a smooth swing. The bag has plenty of pockets and is light weight. For the golfer that wants a good set but doesn’t want to break the bank, this is a great choice.

I love to Golf
9 September 2022

Just look like they are well built once I got close up look. Used them for the first time today and really like how things went first time out. Had these sent to my daughter in Glendale, AZ since she just moved there with her husband and Ill have clubs with bag when I visit them. I bought Strata set with bag a few years ago which I use outside Kansas City area where I live. I like these Wilsons just as well as Strata. Love them both!

Solid set of starter clubs for the price!
26 July 2021

I purchased these clubs for my son who is 17 and a lefty. Several of his friends actually had been on the high school golf team and he wanted to start playing this summer after baseball and graduation. As clubs have become so expensive I wasn't ready to make a purchase on a premium set clubs until there was some commitment to play regularly. After searching around I stopped at my local PGA Store(Paramus NJ) and spoke briefly with one of the sales professional who recommended the clubs for their price and quality. My son has been playing with set for several weeks now and says the clubs have a good solid feel. The only complaint is the hybrid club that the set comes with in stead of a traditional 5 iron. This is a starter set
27 June 2022

This is a starter set. The bag and clubs are very light weight. I had no problem carrying them 18 holes, 4.1 miles, using one strap of the dual strap harness. Each club is heavier than my regular set. The sole of the irons are wide, a sweeping motion make them easy to hit. The driver, fairway wood have a taller profile than current models. The hybrid is heavier and has more loft than I'm use to. On the driving range I did not think much of the set, adequate but nothing stood out. While playing I noticed my drives tended to be straighter but not as long as my regular driver. The extra weight of the club head seemed to stabilize the club. Using the hybrid in light rough was also a surprise, the extra weight and loft got the ball up and flying with ease. While playing ... MoreThis is a starter set. While playing I did not use the sand wedge, the pitching wedge is similar to my gap wedge for loft and distance. The 9 iron is more like an 8 iron. I found I had a gap where the pitching was too short the 9 iron too long. In time I could adjust the 9 iron swing to the needed distance but there is a compromise in this short selection of clubs. The putter was also better than I expected. It's in the blade style composed of a material I think it is powdered metal pressed or 3D printed? The surface of the putter is interesting, it's smooth but has a texture like 200 grit sandpaper. The weight is good has a nice arc, stayed on track. I found it easy get the ball online. I'm not sure how the putter face will hold up under use. The putter has no cover, it probably should have one.

Haven't had the chance to swing them...other than in my basement due to the weather. But on appearance and feel, I'm happy. I held up my very old Dyna TOur Oversized iron compared to these irons and I could feel the difference in weight and balance. As for the bag, I am disappointed. Although functional with the stand and weight seems good, It is yet to be seen if the thin feel of the material is made of a super substance that will not burst or it will be like it feels. Also it did not come with a bag top to protect clubs from rain and travel. Nor does it have clips to add one. I may be sticking with my old bag. Club covers are okay, remind me of oven gloves. Really I was looking for clubs and not a bag so I am happy overall.
