The Gel-Cumulus 23 shoe's focus is to provide an even smoother and softer ride while implementing gender tailored technology in the men's and women's models. Continuing to draw inspiration from cumulus clouds ASICS's reimagined this neutral running shoe's upper and midsole formation by applying a more holistic design approach that adapts to the runner's anatomy in motion. Wrapping the foot with an even softer feel the engineered mesh upper adds strategic support in targeted areas while leaving some of the fibers more open to improve breathability. The upper also works more closely with the midsole's movement which creates a smoother stride from footstrike to toe-off. Additionally the shoe's upper is made with recycled materials to reduce waste and carbon emissions. To improve cushioning and flexibility ASICS's added a 3D Space Construction to the top layer of the midsole. This technology is implemented through a series of strategically planted pillars within the midsole allowing runners to experience more compression in a specific area without reducing durability or stability. These pillar formations are tuned differently in the men's and women's models to address each gender's biomechanical data. By helping runners appropriately compress the foam during the landing phase of their stride this shoe promotes a smoother ride and improves shock absorption. Lastly a softer Gel technology unit is positioned under the heel to improve cushioning while the Flytefoam midsole material helps create a smoother and more supportive ride.

I have knee and foot issues. Every shoe hurts. I embarked on a journey to replace my old trusted pair of shoes and the journey was miserable. Until I found these shoes! NO MORE PAIN. It is like these shoes healed my injuries. These shoes have just the right support and rigidity but are flexible. The contour is as if they were made personally for my foot. Not to narrow, not too wide, not too long, just perfect. Sadly, Asics has already moved on to the Gel Cumulus 24s and 25s - I am so sick of every shoe company making shoes higher and higher and more "foamy" and "responsive." You have a WHOLE generation of people in their 40s to 70s that need good cushioned running/walking shoes that are still stable (without being support shoes). These shoes are perfect. I did everything right, I thought. I used the online questions to size and gave the shoes I wear usually (Adidas) the size, and everything. These arrived and while they're comfortable, they're definitely on the narrower side of regular width. The length was fine, but they're too narrow. I planned to return until I saw there is a $4.95 return fee. I should have paid attention to that before ordering as I cannot stand when I've done everything I can as a buyer and then get charged if I make the return. I'll have to make due wearing them barefoot.

I ordered these in the same size I wear in Brooks, Saucony, Nike, and Hoka. They were extremely tight. I also was not a fan of how short the laces are and how crunchy the tongue of the shoe is. My first running shoes were Asics and they lasted forever, which is why I decided to try them again. I don't think they'll become part of my usual rotation based on these. I will be returning them.

Solid shoe. After using for a month or so I have two complaints. One, my Achilles heel gets sore after a long walk. Might be a rubbing thing. When I wear a little heel insert it gets better. But insert is uncomfortable. Two, the bottoms of my feet get very hot about 30 minutes into a walk. Sometimes it dissipates after a while but it is annoying and uncomfortable. I looked at MANY shoes before choosing these. I’m just not happy with the direction of sneaker industry. It’s a shame. But these are the best of the bunch!
On viewing of these runners 7.5=41.5 which I was happy with as that is the normal sizing of ASICS. On payment the order states 7.5=40.5. This really worried me as I wanted 41.5 runners. When they arrived the box said 7.5= 4O.5 and yet the shoe itself was labelled as 7.5=41.5. The box had a 40.5 sticker over the European sizing. I bought this to the attention of Sports Direct when I had to return a black version of this shoe in November which comes as 7.5 equalling 40.5.I got no satisfaction from the company as they ignored the problem that I was highlighting. Will not purchase runners from Sports direct as I worry they are not authentic Ascics runners. Something funny going on I really believe.
Great support and cushion. The cushioning is felt through out the entire length of the shoe and excellent support at the same time. Toe Box is narrow compared to other Asics model shoes. For narrow feet this is a good thing since not many models of shoes come in narrow width. Works very well with custom made orthotics; just unlace the shoes or make laces very loose to remove the insole and insert your orthotic. The shoe has plenty of depth for orthotics; you do not feel you are coming out of the shoe. A great improvement from several years ago,
This may be just another fitting problem. I have purchased six pairs of Aisics in the last few years. No two fit in the same way even when I have ordered the same style in different sizes. The current ones are too long, which allows my foot to slide forward. The next smallest size squeezes my toes. Yet,the fit of the arch is great. As I analyze them, the toe boxes are too narrow. For cushioning, style etc. I love them, and my physical therapist likes the aid for pronation. I will try one more time before giving up on Aisics.
These shoes are really beautiful but most of all so comfortable. I have supination which means I tend to walk on the outside of my feet. I purchased these shoes because they said that they help with that particular issue. My feet, knees, hips, & lower back all feel better now that I have the footwear that supports supination!
most comfortable distance running shoe ever. Great cushion. Requires virtually no breaking in. Definitely a more dated aesthetic but that is secondary because they are so comfortable. I used to wear the Noosa Tri 14 but needed more cushion after my last marathon and these exceeded my expectations.
I am a fan of Asics shoes! Since Cumulus 22 saved me during my first full marathon I do not buy any other trainers. This Cumulus 23 are beautiful blue like a water and comfortable as a cloud :) As I often run long distances I always buy 1,5 size bigger and it is the best solution for not having any "runner's toes".Cumulus 23 are very comfortable, durable (my previous was with me muuuuch longer than recommended) and are perfect for those running long distances on the road surface. No issues.
