I'm giving it a higher score than I would like, mostly because they fit and don't hurt my feet. Addiction is not my first choice. Ariel is, or I should say, was. I started wearing Ariel maybe 15 years ago. Over time, the design was changed until they became unwearable. It seems that you are now doing the same thing with Addiction -- making them unwearable. I'm guessing you are trying to make them more secure on the foot -- which kills my neuroma. Before I switched to Addiction, I retrieved my broken down Ariels and padded them with extra pads and gel pads. Can't you just come up with new colors and stop redesigning them? The worst thing you did was sew up the tongue -- I cut them to be able to walk without pain.I'm very close to returning to the original running ... MoreI'm giving it a higher score than I would like, mostly because they fit and don't hurt my feet. And, that's painful, too, since they are out of my way. I'm mostly wearing a 3-year old version -- before you changed the heal padding and made them stiffer. If you have any 15 year old Ariels lying in storage in a 7-1/2 Wide, I'd be interested. Thanks

This shoe is awesome. The fit is perfect and my foot feels secure and does not slip around since there is ample cushioning in the top and sides of the shoe. The laces stay tied for as long as I wear them. The bottom of my foot is pain free as I walk as there is a cushioned support under every part of my foot.My foot feels protected. I broke the bone in the top of my foot about 30 years ago and have developed arthritis and a painful bump at the point of the break. In these shoes, because the tongue is nicely padded, I feel no pain or irritation even after walking all day.I’d like to have another pair, that’s how great these shoes feel on my feet all the time..walking, running errands, jogging, climbing stairs, sitting relaxing!

After 14yrs walking with dog, I now find myself walking alone. So many pairs of shows I went thru and now that I am on my own, I decided to buy this pair of shoes and went on a walking journey. I must say that the first day I tried these on my feet were hurting and I processed a return. The next morning, I decided to give them another try. I must say, I have learned to like them. They have taken me to a 3mile walk without hurting, but if I walk beyond the 3 miles, everything hurts. I have decided to keep them since after spending on them I figured to put up with them because I no longer want to go back and forth purchasing shoes that never work. I gave these a 4star only because I wish they had more arch support. Overall, I am grateful that they have walked me on ... MoreAfter 14yrs walking with dog, I now find myself walking alone. Loved the addiction running shoes for 20 years, but then they became all thins fabric with hard “guide rail bars” that ruined the shoe. So, I tried the Walker versionPros: custom orthotics Sit flatCons:Hard shoe that is so stiff it doesn’t bend with your foot and causes leg pain.Lots of friction. It’s like walking on sand paper where the soles of my feet were tingling and burning at the end of each short 1/2 mile walk.Hot shoe. Does not breathe
For some background info, I'm a woman in my late twenties living with adult idiopathic scoliosis. Last fall I began having a problem with pain starting in my lower back and radiating down my right leg. It was so bad, I was finding it difficult to work and I feared that this was a new permanent health issue that would prevent me from ever walking without pain again. My physical therapist suggested that I upgrade to some shoes with better support for my spine, so I ditched my beloved Converse for the Brooks Addiction Walker size 11. To my surprise and relief, the leg and lower back pain gradually faded away over the next two months of wearing these shoes, and has very rarely reared its ugly head again since then. I love these shoes as they provide support all day ... MoreFor some background info, I'm a woman in my late twenties living with adult idiopathic scoliosis. I love these shoes as they provide support all day while I'm at work, and I even bought a second pair of them as indoor-only shoes to be worn around my apartment.I only wish the grips were slightly better in the super-slippery NYC subway system.
I've worn the Addiction running shoe with custom orthotics for over 20 years. I would buy 12 pairs each year, so I still have one last pair I'm wearing before Brooks changed to putting GTS guiderails into the shoe and made the shoe all thin fabric instead of a mix of fabric and vinyl/leather for stability. BUT, I don't know if this is going to work for me for the following reasons:Pros:- This walking shoe is more like the Addiction of years past in that it has a mix of fabric and some viny/leather so offers more stability and does not keep stretching out- Orthotics sit flat as it is truly neutral sole/bottom- wider and "taller" toebox like the Addiction-No GTS guide rails that are like walking on hard bars and prevent the orthotic from laying flat- Brooks 90 ... MoreI've worn the Addiction running shoe with custom orthotics for over 20 years. Impossible to run in it, but it is advertized as a walking shoe.Note: I think maybe this shoe is marketed for a bigger person? For reference, I am 5 foot 3 in. and 90/95 pounds.- Extremely ugly. Brooks, just because I am older now and in a walking shoe doesn't mean I'm ok with an ugly shoe. Why can't you make the walking shoe in the same colors and patterns as the running shoes?- I had a VISA card offer to get 15% off my purchase if I made it from this Brooks Running website from Feb 27 through March 31. I have not gotten that credit to my VISA account.
Wider across the metatarsals than any other shoe I've found. It doesn't squeeze your bones together. So comfy! Stable side to side, high toebox, good support throughout the sole, and enough cushioning to absorb shock well. (I have hallux rigidus and use Morton's extensions and custom orthotics in my shoes. Pre-diagnosis, I wore orthotics and a size 6.5B. I sized up to a 7D to fit the Morton's extensions. I wear these shoes all day, every day.)
I was fitted for these shoes many years ago following problems with Planters Fasciitis and haven't had any further problems since I started wearing them. My most recent pair don't fit me well at all. The sizing and toe box are much smaller. My left foot is a lot smaller than my right and has always had more than enough room. I've always bought the shoe size to suit my larger right foot, again allowing plenty of toe room. With my most recent pair, the toes on my left foot rub against the end of the shoe and the toes of my right foot are jamming up against the end of the shoe. My toes also now rub against the top of the toe box. I am very disappointed as I have bought many pairs of these shoes over the years but I find my most recent pair very uncomfortable and have ... MoreI was fitted for these shoes many years ago following problems with Planters Fasciitis and haven't had any further problems since I started wearing them. Its as though they are a completely different shoe. I am now looking for an alternative choice.
The Addiction Walker Suede has the same sole and insole as the Addiction Walker but the upper is wrapped tighter and slightly more pointed than the Addiction GTS. This difference in the upper shape causes the shoe to fit slightly tighter around the toes and therefore I recommend going a half size up from your normal Addiction GTS size. I have the new Addiction GTS and the non GTS versions and they function very differently with the non GTS shoes having less support around the heel and also being slightly smaller and tighter on the toes. If you order a half to a full size up these will be comfy all day walking - they are not really a running shoe at all.
I held off for a long time before buying this shoe, simply for vanity. The white shoe and the design yelled “orthopedic” very loudly. I finally decided to try after Brooks came out with a pastel color. Still quite orthopedic looks, but it’s extremely stable and I love it. I trade it out with my other Brooks models for my long dog walks, and I’m hoping they continue to add more color. Even walkers like pizzazz!
