I originally ordered a pair of Skyline Float X hikers, but they felt a little too small & sort of cheap-feeling. Then I found the Anacapa's. They were on sale, so significantly cheaper than the Skylines. I wasn't sure about the brownish color, but for the price I decided to try them & ordered them 1/2 size bigger than the Skylines. They are SO comfortable - wore them for the first time the other day on a 1.5 hour mountain hike & no problems at all. And I think the color looks nicer in person than online. I also feel like these were a better value than the Skylines b/c they contain some genuine leather & are Gortex. They feel more sturdy & well-made, like a hiking shoe rather than a tennis shoe. I would definitely recommend.

This hiking shoe is so comfortable. There was a little bit of breaking in (maybe a day or two) but it was not uncomfortable at all. Once my feet settled into them they became even more comfortable. I was wearing ZCOILS, which are a great shoe, but they're so bulky. I have arthritis in my feet and have to wear special shoes. This is the only other shoe I've found that I can wear and not feel like I have torture devices on my feet. They're great! My sister turned me on to Hoka brand. It is so nice to have a comfortable, lightweight shoe now. This is the second pair I've bought in a month and I will be buying more. I HIGHLY recommend this to others! They feel dreamy on my feet, I don't take them off until bedtime!

Thank you for offering a wide in this shoe. Appreciate rain resistant. Using these in Dolomites hiking. Good grip even on polished limestone. But not great for via ferrata, too flexible, not a solid enough edge. For moderate difficulty via ferrata okay, used arms, legs to compensate but harder via ferrata the lack of structural stability of shoe was an issue. Switched to other more rigid shoes. For hiking great but above that becomes problematic.

Hiked on these for 3 weeks in the Dolomites. Comfortable. Good grip even on wet limestone. Great shoe to accommodate wide toe box. Maybe a bit too large, wore thicker socks. Works great for general hiking and as easy approach shoe. But the sole is too soft for via ferrata or scrambling. My foot placements held, but they were sloppy, leaning, not 100% solid. Handled scree, steep slopes, rock, grass all okay just not solid enough for more technical. Goretex kept socks dry even in rain and snow.
I always look for a thick forefoot when I’m looking for walking or hiking shoes. It’s not easy! I also needed a waterproof shoe with good grip and I have finally found the shoe. It was a bit worrying though because I’ve always heard Hoka shoes were narrow but I don’t find that to be the case with these shoes. They are perfect for my medium foot, which is on the wider side of medium than the narrow side. There is plenty of room in these shoes which is great for extended periods of walking or hiking. Comfortable right out of the box. Hurray! I do wish they came in a different color but at this point I need function over a color.
Back to the drawing board! I wanted to like these so much. I usually wear Nike and New Balance. Thought I'd try something different. Bought these as a work shoe. I'm not on my feet much as a truck driver, but needed something rugged. Needless to say, these could be the most uncomfortable shoes I've ever worn. They just hurt really bad. Not a sizing issue at all. More of a construction and support problem. Tried other insoles, same thing. No problems with other brands. I hope they fix these for the next version.
I have several pairs of Hoka's, Bondies, Arahi, recovery sandals, Hopara2's, and Stinson, as well as my husband. We don't run so ours are everyday shoes and walking. After getting my Hopara2's for vacation, I thought this might be a great pair of shoes because of the traction on the bottom. I was incorrect! The shoes make my toes visually long looking because there is so much space between the laces and the front of the shoe. They feel like cheap plastic soles while you're wearing them, but not as far as the feel in your hands. Another thing I noticed was there was not much padding at the balls of my feet. Again, when walking, they didn't sound or look like a cheap pair of shoes, but they felt like that on my feet. Again, when walking, they didn't sound or look like a cheap pair of shoes, but they felt like that on my feet. Also the laces are kind of a strange stiff like material and they keep coming untied. I've never had issues with my shoes coming untied, but this pair is not so good.Let me go back and address my toes the shoe fit like a true size and width, but it was the look on my foot that made it look huge again, especially from the laces to the toes. I did not care for the color at all, It looks better online than in person. The color is a strange muted teal and not so appealing to my eyes.Hoka went from hero to zero on this pair and thank goodness for their 30 days!
Bought these for several features, all of which have met or exceeded my expectations: they are waterproof, non-slip (including in light snow), very supportive but without being stiff or requiring break-in, and a very pretty purple color (not quite as dark as shown). Based on other reviews, I first tried size 9, but found that my normal 8-1/2 fits perfectly both with light and heavy socks. I normally have an issue with one toe, but not with these - there is just the right amount of room in the toe box. They go on easily thanks to the loop in back, and the laces stay tied without having to double-knot them. While not as "cushiony" as my other Hokas, I actually prefer the sturdiness of this pair in conditions when I need to feel sure-footed after a bad fall two years ago.
I received an email regarding the ANACAP 2 LOW GTX of HOKA. this is the 8th pair of HOKA's I have bought this year. I usually buy the Clifton 9's. My daughter wears the Bondi for her retail job where she is running on her feet every day. When this style came through my email and seeing how the heel seemed to have a little extra girth/padding for heel walkers I thought I want to try those. I went through the colors. The color I liked was on sale. Must have been an Oman that I needed this shoe. I know the prices seem a little high. But honestly you get what you pay for in shoes. And these shoes are amazing.
Bought a pair of these less than a year ago from Eastern Mountain Sports and have worn them frequently enough that I think I'm capable of writing an honest review. Initially purchased because I'd heard how comfortable HOKAs are and wanted a new hiking shoe, but I've found the footbed to be stiff, cheap feeling and painful if worn too long. If walking or hiking in the rain, the design of the heel kicks water up and soaks the bottom of whatever pants I'm wearing. Additionally, they've developed an annoying clown-like squeak that won't go away. I'm super disappointed as I was initially excited about them, but I now regret wasting the $180 and not returning them off the bat.
