I had to add my two points. From the first sip through probably five or six bottles, with plenty of other brands in between, I absolutely adored this. I've gradually begun recommending this to friends instead of their standard labels. I tasted the rye after finishing the first bottle and was even more impressed. You can't possibly go wrong because all of the other reviews are accurate.

One of the bourbons I like best in the store is this one. as soon as I get those $10/$ I drive to Bevmo and quickly grab an armful of these white label Woodford Reserve bottles after receiving five coupons in my email. It is complicated like an enigmatic, exotic woman, and the first sip will catch you off guard. Oaky, vanilla-like, creamy, and sweet. It's almost going to make you feel awful for packing your cup with ice. The marketing team, the product team, or whatever team needs to come up with a name for this bottle, thus I had to deduct a star. Maybe they didn't need "Woodford Reserve" when this was the only bottle they had, but I've seen rye with a green label and double oak with a brown label now. Then you have to explain to them over the phone while they're ... MoreOne of the bourbons I like best in the store is this one. as soon as I get those $10/$ I drive to Bevmo and quickly grab an armful of these white label Woodford Reserve bottles after receiving five coupons in my email. All of that could have been avoided if they had given it a name. Anything. Original Woodford Reserve. White Woodford Reserve Sticker No, not the Woodford Reserve with the green label. Whatever. Anyway, this is a fantastic choice for $50. Every time I had to choose between this and Knob Creek, I'm glad I chose this one.

Excellent bourbon. It used to be my go-to whiskey on a Saturday night in my boxers, but I've recently come to the conclusion that a Wild Turkey 101 has more nuance. Even though it lacks punch, it nonetheless delivers a nice slap to the sack while you sip a nightcap with your better half. A shot of 101 will fire your loins and give you an electric kick in the underpants. But she is your mistress if you want a slick operator who will still be by your side in the morning. Mate, bottoms up!

I just had the chance to sample a fifth of bourbon that costs $1100. (a friend brought it over). We also sampled Woodford Reserve, which I just so happened to have, as a point of comparison. Although we both thought the $1100 bourbon was superb, we only felt that it was marginally superior to the Woodford. It was a wonderful illustration of the law of diminishing returns because it cost more than 27 times as much as the Woodford. Woodford is an incredibly good whiskey that most people can afford.
Nectar. The nectar is everywhere. I apologize; that's a weak description. How about gently sweet, smooth tasting honeyed oak that is reminiscent of honey? I inquired about premium bourbons at my neighborhood hangout and was really angry when they did not mention Woodford until around my tenth visit. I better get up and take a look for myself if nobody trains the personnel!
WR is a staple for making bourbon-based cocktails and is nice to drink 'neat' as well. It typically has a fruity nose with some orange and mint. I think its a good entry level bourbon if you're just becoming interested as its an easy sipper again with some fruit and a little spice at the end. Definitely recommend giving it a try. Some Total Wines have a bottle/batch picked by WRs master distiller, which are even better so keep an eye out.
Nose: Apple, vanilla, brown sugar, feeling rich and sweet. Also a little rye with some hint of oak. With water, there's more vanilla with caramel.Palate: A little harsh, not unbearable but somehow the sting on the tongue and palate feels too long. Prominent oak at the same time. There's a note of malty sweetness. With some drops of water, the aggression on the tongue is suppressed, feeling like pepper. The liquor tastes a lot sweeter.Finish: Dry, apple, no astringency. Feeling clean.Comment: This bourbon has beautiful nose. It's a nice orderly demonstration of everything it has to offer. With that impressive maroon color, it builds up high expectation before you taste. With that impressive maroon color, it builds up high expectation before you taste. Unfortunately, this turns out to be a simple bourbon without too much depth to overcome the harshness on the palate. Note, this is not to say it's a bad drink. This is still a decent bourbon if it's slightly watered down or with rock. Then you get an easy plain sweet dram without any unpleasant feelings. However, such a character normally makes me associate with mixer. It also makes me wonder why bother such a specific proof number, and feel the product is a bit over priced compared to other very good bourbons in $2x range.
Well.... sorry for the half star knock down. It's been about a year since I had this bourbon, and tis the season and time for a review.Well, the same ol Woodford flavors are there but, this time I'm getting a tad more of a astringent mid to mid-after taste? Not heavy mind you, but it's there. But I'm still picking up the regular woodsy/oaky smell & taste. Citrusy/Orange, toffee/caramel. With a faint chocolate-tobacco-ish smell taste finish.Medium-thin to medium mouth feelNot to long of a finish, kinda of a dry-ish finish to it, but good. All & all really more of a 3.75 star rating !
Not bad overall. A little heavy on the rye for me which tones down the sweetness and gives it that orange zest vibe, so some will like that, some won't. It has good oak flavor, but could use a little more smoke. Those are the cons, even though I'm nit-picking. The pros are that it's smooth and has good depth of flavor. A touch of honey on the nose and palate. A good sipper for the price. Recommended, 3 stars
Heard about Woodford Reserve from a bourbon podcast. Tried it neat at a local bar, loved it. Purchased a bottle at Total Wine for a great price. Just finished my first glass, still feeling the lingering creamy, caramel, burn. A very balanced bourbon, smooth and spicey at the same time, flavors and tastes all over the palate. Excellent nose. Great stuff!
