Pantry staple. I love these Woolworths Diced Italian Tomatoes and always have a can or two in our pantry. At $0. 80 they are great value and perfect to add to pasta sauce or taco mix. I love that there is no extra salt added so that I can control that myself. Contains small diced pieces (60%) and juice and no hard bits so perfect for sauces. The product is made in Italy which makes me feel like it's of good quality (no idea if this is true but that's how my mind works!). Definitely would recommend this.

Great base for a sauce. So I bought. Chicken breast sliced into 2 portions. Then in a pot diced onion, bacon cut up, garlic crushed, add canned tomatoes and a few mixed herbs then reduced until a thick sauce. Then fried off my chicken breast in pan. Then transferred to a baking tray with baking paper underneath. Sprinkle cheese over the top. Place in oven until golden and chicken cooked through. Serve with a salad. Delicious

Mama Mia don't we grow tomatoes in Australia. Absolutely nothing wrong with these tomatoes other than they are a product of Italy and not grown or packed in Australia which is a big no no in my eyes when we grow tomatoes here. On the shelf were other brands of tomatoes proudly show the farming family that grew that product in Australia with the blessing of Woolworths. So here is Woolworths turning their back on those farmers to get a cheaper product from overseas. Yes this can only cost. 80 cents which is good for people on a budget but not for our economy, maybe if all our produce came from Australia and encouraged more farming costs would be lower. Hence ends the lecture and you know I am not buying these again. On the plus side if you are in absolute dire straits ... MoreMama Mia don't we grow tomatoes in Australia. On the plus side if you are in absolute dire straits (and not the band) they are a good product as the ingredients are only tomatoes and tomato juice and a bit of citric acid. No artificial additives. They taste just as good as Australian canned tomatoes and look exactly the same. Nobody would be any the wiser in a blind taste test. They are already diced which is good as no big chunks to break up during your cooking and also no salt so you can add salt to your recipe as per your tastes.

A Good Pantry Staple. This product was easy to find in store, although the top of the tin did need to be cleaned as it was slightly dirty. Upon opening the tin the diced tomatoes looked appetising & had a lovely rich smell. My husband tasted them before he cooked them & said that they tasted sweet. Once the contents were poured out we saw good sized chunks of tomato in a vibrant red tomato juice. We found this to be a perfect addition to a bolognese sauce, however the possibilities are endless. This product was exactly what you would expect from a tin of diced tomatoes, plus it had no added salt, a 4. 5 Health Star Rating & cost only 80 cents. However we were a bit disappointed that it was not made from Australian produce. It’s worth mentioning that you can buy a ... MoreA Good Pantry Staple. However we were a bit disappointed that it was not made from Australian produce. It’s worth mentioning that you can buy a tin of the Woolworth Australian Diced Tomatoes for just 20 cents extra, which I would personally prefer to purchase. Over all though this is a good product
Good quality, versatile. The taste of these diced tomatoes was sweet and not acidic at all. They were finely diced with no overly large chunks and was not overly juicy like others. It makes for a great pantry staple as it is quite versatile and fits into any budget. I like the fact that it has minimal ingredients and has no added salt which is great for those watching their salt intake. It is of excellent standard and price overall but I prefer to purchase the Australian product where possible as there is no difference in taste or quality in my opinion.
So convenient. I always have tinned tomatoes in the pantry but I don't normally get the salt reduced so I was interested to try it. I happened to get another sample which was normal Woolworths brand Australian diced tomatoes, so comparing was going to be easy. I found the no added salt diced tomatoes to be very fresh, neatly cut with a nice amount of tomato juice. They had 10mg/100g of sodium while the normal diced tomatoes had 15mg/100g of sodium. I didn't notice much difference in taste tbh of the salt content between the two but I did notice that the no added salt tomatoes were not quite as rich and thick in the juice compared to the normal diced tomatoes. I found both tins to be sweet enough with not too much acidity which was nice as some other budget ones require sugar to balance them. I did notice also that the tins were different inside with the no salt tomatoes tin having a white lining and the other tomatoes in a plain unlined tin. I don't know why the difference for this though as they're both just diced tomatoes. I would happily repurchase either of these, both having their pros & cons, the no added salt was 80c tin and helpful for those cutting down on salt or @$1. 00 a thicker sauce from the normal diced tomatoes? Maybe I will do one of each in my sauce like I did this time The salt reduced is at the bottom of picture.
Upsized Pantry Essential. This was a tricky one to review as I haven’t tasted tinned tomatoes as is before. Typically, I use tinned tomatoes in a casserole and always the cheapest tin so I haven’t trialed many brands. Overall: Reasonably priced pantry staple that does the job. Finding the Product: Quick and easy. Aroma: As expected, tomato-y with a slight metallic note. Taste/flavour: By itself, not an enjoyable flavour. Nothing like vine-ripened tomatoes from one’s veggie garden. In saying that, this isn’t a product you’d buy to just eat plain. The tomato flavour wasn’t as rich as I would have expected. I couldn’t pick up on the added salt. These tinned tomatoes worked fantastically in a bulk slow cooker meal that I created for dinner last night (mixed with various ... MoreUpsized Pantry Essential. The tomato flavour wasn’t as rich as I would have expected. I couldn’t pick up on the added salt. These tinned tomatoes worked fantastically in a bulk slow cooker meal that I created for dinner last night (mixed with various herbs, red wine, garlic, beef stock, assorted veggies and beef). Texture/mouthfeel: It was a lot waterier than I expected for tinned tomatoes. A lot of puree and not really that many tomato chunks for diced tomatoes. Packaging: Eye catching red tin. I like that it states the health rating and vegetable serve count on the front of the pack. Great that it is a ring pull. Using a can opener on a tin this full can get messy. Recyclable is a win. Price: Good price. $1. 50 for 800g. Purchase again: Yes, although I would usually opt for the smaller tins.
Great pantry staple. At 80 cents a can, this is a great price. Great to keep on hand in the pantry. I couldn’t notice the “ no added salt”. Well diced into even pieces and tastes great! Product of Italy. The can is fully recyclable. I would recommend this to anyone who wants canned tomatoes at a great price.
Good pantry staple. Diced Italian tomatoes are good for adding to casseroles, pasta sauce, stews or even thickening to have on toast. Ring top lid is a bonus as do not have to handle the can opener. Tin promotes no added salt, but it must be somewhere in this product as compared to organic Italian diced tomatoes in my pantry and sodium contact in Bunch sample is 30mg sodium per 100g quantity and in the organic same size tin is 8mg sodium per 100g quantity. Sugars, energy and protein al pretty much the same. Both are product of Italy. Good pantry staple.
Pantry staple. Already a convert to this brand but first time trying the salt reduced variety. Easily distinguishable with the blue stripe mid point on front of tin.. 80 cents per can is a fantastic price and very good for budget conscious families. Consistancy of sauce to tomatoes is a good ratio and overall flavour of tomatoes is substantial. Note that it is Italian made and is 4. 5* and couldn’t taste the difference with salt reduced. Always in my pantry and will continue to buy this product.
