Like a MAFS Episode In a Can . I actually like this product, the idea of adding basil & oregano to diced tomatoes is like a MAFS marriage. It is convenient to place the herbs in the can with the tomatoes. (I really like the idea)It does taste good, but still need to add your own herbs. If this used Aussie ingredients and cost $1. 50 you would be onto a winner Joke Time Why is backyard tomato growing so competitive? Because the stakes are so high.

Convenient and tasty. Canned tomatoes are a staple in my pantry. We use them in so many different dishes - lasagna, butter chicken, chicken parmigiana, nachos, enchiladas, burritos to name a few. We normally add our own home grown herbs. It was easy to find on the shelf and the the price is good. Packaging: Bright graphics showing it is tomatoes with a hint of oregano and basil. I like that there is an emphasis on the Health star rating being 4. 5/5 and that this product counts towards the recommended 5 serves of veg a day. Very glad the nutrition information is printed on a white background to make it easier to see. Always love it when a can has a ring pull to open it. Obviously it can all be recycled - bonus. Product: So happy that this product does not contain any sugar - it's often hard to find tinned tomatoes without sugar. Unfortunately we have no idea where the tomatoes originate - it just says multiple origins. Does Australia not produce enough tomatoes, basil and oregano for Woolworths to buy?? Taste wise you could definitely taste the basil and oregano but it wasn't overpowering. Would I buy it again? If Woolworths switched to Australian grown tomatoes, basil and oregano I would probably buy some to keep in the pantry for when I don't have enough homegrown herbs on hand.. For now I'll stick to Australian grown plain tomatoes and add my own homegrown herbs

Another solid pantry staple. To be fair, I normally skip the tinned tomatoes with the herbs in and choose the plain ones so that they're more versatile. But these offer a great solution to adding herbs to your dishes. When you compare the price of these ($1. 10) to the price of the unflavoured ones (80c) it looks like you're paying an additional 30c for the herbs which seems excessive when the flavours aren't even noticeably strong. These were easy enough to find in store, but you just have to be careful you're selecting the right variety. They do go in lots of dishes, and I do like to have plenty of tinned tomatoes in the pantry, it makes me feel secure in the knowledge that I can whip something up in a pinch. In future I'll probably just stick to the unflavoured ones.

Rich tomatoes, but missing the basil. Easy to find with the name in bold white on a green stripe with pictures of the tomatoes and herbs in the background. Upon opening the can, with the ring pull ā always appreciated, I could definitely smell the oregano. I couldnāt smell the basil. I tasted it cold and the oregano was the stronger flavour, which makes sense as I always find oregano can overpower basil. I warmed the contents in a pan, had another taste, with the same outcome ā oregano. I do like oregano, the problem is the missing basil. The tomatoes where chunky, firm and rich in flavour. I added meat balls that I had browned earlier and let it simmer away. There was enough liquid in the tin that I did not have to add any more during the simmering. Fantastic!!!! I buy this product all the time. I use it many of the meals I make for my family. Some people feel that you can only use this in Italian cuisine, but I make a mean, Beef and Potato Casserole. You make a layer of rissoles in the bottom of a casserole dish, that have been slightly precooked, then later that with cooked onion and Diced Italian Tomatoes. Place a nice layer of mashed potatoes on top of this, making sure you leave a bit of space at the top of the dish. Finally, you layer this with grated tasty cheese. The first time I made this was over 30 years ago, by when my Dad was alive and he was my guinea pig. Thank goodness it turned out yummy, he loved and always requested I make it for him. It's now become a special family dish for us, as we always ...Ā MoreFantastic!!!! I buy this product all the time. I use it many of the meals I make for my family. Tomatoes lacking in taste and flavour. I made my usual marinara sauce with this 400g can of Diced Italian Tomatoes Basil & Oregano. This product has been packed in Italy with ingredients from multiple origins. So that makes me wonder are they really Italian tomatoes?I found these diced tomatoes a lot paler in colour. There were quite a few strange offcut orange coloured tomato pieces mixed in there too. The tomatoes werenāt that flavoursome in taste. They were lacking in flavour and sweetness Considering Italy is all about itās tomatoes and sauces I expected so much more⦠It definitely werenāt as red and delicious tasting as the Woolies Australian canned tomatoās I usually buy. Therefore prefer adding my own spices, and just prefer to stick to what I know is best ...Ā MoreTomatoes lacking in taste and flavour. Molto bene! I was most excited to receive this sample as I regularly buy tinned tomatoes to add to my dishes to add depth of flavour. I was in a hurry and a tad over zealous to try this out that I actually flung the ring pull off the can and had to open it up with my can opener! However once opened I was greeted with the lovely scent of basil, oregano and tomato as promised. I used these lovely diced and scented tomatoes in a big pot of veggie soup which added some additional flavours for a most lovely tasting soup. It did promise with flavours to pack a punch which was Molto bene and although really full of flavour and tasty I'd probably still continue to purchase the cheaper version of diced plain tomatoes at 80 cents a can to add dried oregano/basil for a little ...Ā MoreMolto bene! Good pantry staple. Who doesnāt love tin tomatoes, the perfect pantry staple! Having said that, Iāve never purchased flavoured tin tomatoes, with the basil and oregano added, so was looking forward to trying this sample. Found in the tinned vegetable aisle, with the huge variety of tin tomatoes, this sample was easy to locate. The prominent green ādiced tinned tomatoesā label distinguished this āherbed varietyā of tomatoes from the standard offering. Usually I have home made tomato sugo at my disposal but I literally used my last bottle last week, so Iām destined to use store bought until January āāļø Feeling it needed a ājazz upā, I added the tin tomatoes. The ring pull made for easy opening, and the tomatoes were a great consistency, not too watery. They also had a lovely herby scent. This is a great sample, no different from the other major brands. The herbs were mild but noticeable and I highly recommend if you like herbed tin tomatoes. I actually prefer the versatility of plain tin tomatoes so I probably wonāt buy these again.
Italian Tomatoes? Needs clarification! I buy this product and it is very handy indeed to have in the pantry. Versatile, it adds flavour and bulk to a multitude of dishes and everyone likes it. I must admit I look at the product much more closely when it is a bunch item. So today I noted that the āItalian tomatoā product contains ingredients sourced from multiple origins that are packed in Italy. So reading this it calls into question if one of those ingredients sourced from multiple origins is actually the tomatoes!! I suspect it is deliberately ambiguous which I canāt say sits well with me as a consumer. It is a reasonable expectation that we should be clearly advised of what we are buying and consuming. As such this will knock off a star from the rating and I will ...Ā MoreItalian Tomatoes? Needs clarification! I buy this product and it is very handy indeed to have in the pantry. TIME FOR ITALIAN!! āDiced Italian Tomatoes with Basil & Oreganoā Great!!My first thought was to make use of these canned tomatoes by preparing a LASAGNA for dinner as I realised that this beautifully designed and distinctive can of tomatoes was a PERFECT match for preparing an Italian homemade meal such as this.
