Lovely plump segments. Firstly the tin was super easy to open with the ring pull. Nice plump mandarin pieces with lots of flavour. I will always keep a spare tin in the pantry as they are a very versatile ingredient in many varied recipes. we had them with plain Greek yoghurt and the next morning my son had them with weetbix and milk for breakfast Great product at a great price Thanks again Bunch

No flavour. Absolutely looked like mandarin and had an excellent texture, but the flavour was lacking. The syrup was nice enough but was just sweet sugary syrup without much flavour and the mandarins themselves didn't have much flavour either. They looked awesome in a salad and great on a cheese platter but mainly just aesthetics.

Terrible idea for such a good fruit. I was hoping this would be ok to some extent but I was sadly disappointed. I didn't know what to use this for so I used it in my ninja bullet to help make a fruit smoothie. Before adding in some of the segments, I tasted one. Oh yuck. It was awful. What did the poor mandarin do to deserve this? Not a good idea to can some fruit and this should be included on the list. The smoothie helped hide the taste but still not good in that either. No way to ever buy or consider again

A lovely surprise. I'd never tried canned mandarin segments and was pleasantly surprised. Like all or most canned fruit, fresh is best and quite different in taste. I added the segments to a salad and they made a refreshing change. They would be equally as nice in fruit salad, pav, smoothies etc. I would buy again and keep a can in my pantry for a special occasion and think that they are well priced.

Why buy a can. Why buy a can when you can have fresh. The flavour wasn't as sweet as the can says (deliciously sweet). I thought they were a bit bland and had no texture. I wanted to do something different with them, so I added some to bread dough with their juice, chopped dates and let the bread maker work its magic. I believe they are only decorative and lack flavour. I wouldn't purchase them, I would prefer fresh.

Hmmm. Thanks to Bunch for the sample. With the abundance of fresh fruit we have here in Australia and the infrastructure to get produce to all corners of our vast land I’m struggling to understand why a product like this is even part of the Woolworths range. Yes you might need mandarin segments when they are out of season but canned? Look they taste ok if not a bit small in segment size. BUT, the big no for this reviewer here is product sourced from China. Surely Woolworths can source any fruit product from Australia? We make the best produce in the world and I can’t help but think how tasty our canned mandarin segments would be. I’m sure if they cost a little more shoppers would buy them especially if there was no cheaper overseas sourced variety on the shelf.

Bad taste. I cannot understand why anyone would buy this product. It is too sweet and the taste was horrible. I don’t see any convenience when it is so quick and easy to peel fresh mandarins, that are natural and unsweetened. I even think they are cheaper to buy. Also, this comes from China which is not great for our Aussie farmers.

Suprisingly good. I've never tried canned citrus fruit before so did not know what to expect, but I was actually pleasantly suprised. The mandarin segments were very juicy and firm. The texture was really nice and not soggy at all. I thought the flavour was also pretty good - they weren't super zingy or citrusy like a fresh mandarin, but for canned fruit I enjoyed them. I ate them on their own, but I could see this going well in a lot of different desserts.

Great straight from the tin. i usually buy these in summer for making salads, they are great with chicken, and when I scored this sample I cooked an extra chicken thigh to make Hawaiian salad for a lunch, unfortunately the tin of pineapple pieces I thought I had in the cupboard turned out to be crushed pineapple that I bought for fruitcake. So I ate them plain and they were a wonderful decadent treat in the middle of another dreary working from home session. Next shop I’ll stock up on these and pineapple chunks.

Handy In Pantry. Always handy to have tin in pantry. Like for 5 cup salad, I cup mandarin segments, I cup pineapple pieces, 1 cup shredded coconut, 1 cup chopped marshmallows and 1 cup of sour cream. Goes nicely with chicken for a side or can be eaten for dessert. Like the ring top tin as saves getting out can opener and instruction on top of tin how to open. Product is made in China. Once opened should be kept in fridge and used within 2 days.
