Really enjoyable with a bit of added flavour. I thought this salmon was very nice, though as others have mentioned the flavour is a little bland. I ate this on some fresh home-made Irish Soda Bread as part of a mini platter-for-one, with a couple of slices of strong English cheddar and a hard-boiled egg on the side. It was a great mix. The salmon just needed a dash of pepper and sprinkle of sea salt, and it was perfect. Some herbs such as dill or tarragon would have been good additions as well. I will try that next time. Other things I liked:-There are no artificial colours, flavours or preservatives-The product is MSC certified for sustainabilityThough I wish I knew more about the origins of the product as the can says "from multiple origins" which is pretty vague. ...Ā MoreReally enjoyable with a bit of added flavour. Tinned Salmon. This sample was a little hard to locate. The first time, the shelf was bare and when I did find it, I found the labels all melded in together and did not really stand out and one could easily pick up the wrong flavour. I will say from the outset that I am not a huge salmon eater and I certainly do not buy or eat fresh salmon (bad experience that I will never recover from). If purchased, I buy the large tin and make salmon potato patties, so this size is a new experience for me. Upon opening there was a slight fishy smell but not overpowering. The salmon was pink and soft and flaky. I drained the spring water off. I had some on jatz, had good texture, tasted good and held up well on the cracker. At a price point of $1. 20 for the 95gm tin, I think this is rather cheap, considering tuna is the same price when on special. I definitely recommend this product and would be great for a quick lunch or back up in the pantry.

Delicious. Nicely presented can with clear and concise labelling - easy to open with the ring pull. A little disappointed with the presentation in the can as it looked just like mush and not like other salmon I have purchased which has nice flakes. It would be an excellent choice for sandwiches or wherever you want a salmon taste and have it mixed with something else because of it's appearance, but thats the only downside to it. Taste is spot on, I emptied the entire contents of the can and I tried it straight from the plate and couldn't fault the delicious salmon meat, no bones and the springwater was a lovely lively fresh taste. Excellent source of good fats and proteins. Convenient sized can for one person and less than 100 calories for the contents. The salmon ...Ā MoreDelicious. I can recommend this for nice salmon taste and I will purchase this in the future. from me

A bit boring. Yet another small tin of fish to sample? Third in a row. Iām not really complaining, but It would be nice to have a bit of variety in the samples - am hopeful the next sample will be a bit more exciting, or at least something that isnāt tinned fish. :)I wasnāt relishing tasting this - cheap tinned fish in water is bland and usually something I buy for the dogs. I always wonder where it came from and what odds and ends end up in the tin after (I imagine) the more expensive brands have been tinned and taken all the prime bits of fish. Tin is small - only enough for one sandwich. Might be ok to use in a salad for one but I would need to buy several of these if I was going to use it as an ingredient in a family meal. Tin is small - only enough for one sandwich. Might be ok to use in a salad for one but I would need to buy several of these if I was going to use it as an ingredient in a family meal. The tiny tin only contains 61% salmon, which may be the usual amount in these tins but seems quite low - not much more than half. Label makes all the right noises about it being healthy and sustainable etc etc. Though I would prefer Tassie salmon, I am happy enough to eat fish caught in the NE Pacific Ocean, though it doesnāt sit well to think that this poor fish has travelled the world via Thailand to end up on shelf in my local Woolies supermarket. Though only 61% there seemed to be a reasonable amount of fish in the tin after draining. It was very finely chopped, mushy and very pale looking - I was expecting salmon to have more colour. It tasted ok and was quite mild flavoured. Nothing particularly bad or good about the taste. Itās not the sort of thing I would normally buy but I can see that it might suit some people size and taste wise.
Convenient. I usually purchase the smoked variety of this salmon so it was nice to receive a sample in spring water. The positives of the salmon are the 4 HSR, a good source of omega 3, has no artificial flavours, preservatives or colours, is responsibly caught, certified sustainable seafood and the tin & lid are recyclable. The contents of the tin are 61% salmon and 38. 5% spring water and it is a 95 gram tin but the serving size of the tin is 57 grams when drained which is approximately the same as one of the branded. The Woolworths brand is $1. 20 and another brand is $2. 90. There are so many ways to use this salmon such as salads, dry biscuits, sandwiches, making a dip or straight from the tin. Nice enough, but not our thing. I was grateful to Bunch for allocating this sample. We love tinned tuna in this household -- our favourite is tuna with ginger, and it's amazing! But we are less familiar with tinned salmon, so this was an excellent opportunity to remedy that. THE CONS:* While the unit and per kg pricing are both on the cheaper end for this type of product, the tin is almost 40% water! Leave it to you to decide whether this is cheap salmon or expensive water ... * Packed in Thailand with north Pacific ocean-caught fish -- this product is loaded with food miles. * I personally found it too salty, but I'm not a tinned salmon connoisseur. THE PROS:* At $1. 20/95g, it is considerably cheaper than all brand name equivalents. * The flavour was too salty, but I put mayonnaise and dill on toast, which complemented the product and mitigated the saltiness nicely. * On a hot summer's day, it was a refreshing, clean taste. THE VERDICT?Sadly, this is one product that won't be making our shopping list. While the flavour was not unpleasant, there are just so many varieties of tinned tuna which are simply better. The high food miles are another deterrent, however this is often the case with tinned seafood. As always, we remain grateful to Bunch for the opportunity to expand our palates.
Pales in comparison. We love salmon but usually buy the branded one, and our favourite is no longer available so this was great to try a different one. Responsibly caught, wild Alaskan salmon in springwater, packed in Thailand from multiple origins and retailing for $1. 20. The MSC blue tick is visible on the can which ensures the fish has been caught sustainably, leaving plenty more in the sea No artificial colours flavours or preservatives and a four star health rating. My daughter took this for her lunch and was pretty disappointed with the taste and appearance. It was very pale, not looking at all like salmon, and very watery with no taste. Tasteless. This was easy to find on the shelf along with all the other tins of salmon! $1. 20 for 95g. This was easy to open, and as you can see there is a bit of liquid in this tin, compared to the brand that I buy there is not normally that much liquid. I was a little shocked by the colour, as it is a lot paler than my one that I usually buy. The one on the left is my preferred brand, but upon reading the back I have just realised that they put paprika into it? So maybe the woollies one maybe the original colour and we have just been tricked by John West after all these years? I used my salmon in a sandwich As on it's own it was a little bland. Once I added cayenne pepper, turmeric and chilli powder, it really gave it the lift it needed. This has a 4 āļø HSR. This ...Ā MoreTasteless. Disappointing. These little 95g sized cans of fish are so handy for one person. I generally purchase tuna however, not salmon. Iām rather confused about the fish in this tin. Also on the label there is a statement āThis salmon comes from a fishery ⦠well managed and sustainable ā¦ā and furthermore it states that it is packed in Thailand from multiple origins. I found this salmon to be very bland to eat as it is so I added it to some spring onions, mayonnaise and lemon juice which I believe improved the flavour and texture immensely and made a great low kilojoule topping for a couple of biscuits. I would not buy this salmon in spring water again but I would certainly buy the Lemon and Thyme flavoured salmon in the same range. Iām sure the oil enhances the flavour and texture of the fish.
Average quality. Interesting sample I tried today with some crackers and added watermelon and cheese as I had my neighbour visit me for overdue chat.
