Work Sharp WSGSS Guided Sharpening System

Great sharpener. Not a huge fan of the ceramic rod insert. Seems like I can get a better edge without it. Definitely get the additional grit plates. Practice on a dispensable knife first to get the feel for how the pivot system works before using it on an expensive blade.

Best sharpener I've used

Easy to use; easy to understand instructions. Right out of the box I was able to put the best edge on my kitchen knives they ever had. I think it's better than a motorized sharpener because it takes less metal off the knife when sharpening.The only thing I don't like about it is that there isn't a separate bag or container to put the sharpener pieces in when not being used--you have to save the box it comes in and repack it after use.

Good, but could be better

An interesting concept, design and application. Does a good job. I find it's not suited for volume sharpening. Comes with one coarse and one fine sharpening plate. Would have given it four stars had it come with the extra fine sharpening plate and the leather stropping plate (included in the Guided Sharpening System Upgrade Kit).

Makes it easy

This set has built-in angles which you can use to adjust your blades to best sharpen. The only thing better would be one that actually held the blade. I've sharpened chef, serrated and regular knives. Provided is a rough and fine board as well as 3 different-size ceramic tubes for honing - very useful for serrated edges. The company has useful videos on their site.

This is an outstanding sharpening system. Was reluctant to try something new, but this is a instant win. Made in USA. 40+ year warranty. Very high quality, and it really sharpens extremely well. Not gimmicky and cheap like many on the market. Relatively small footprint for a robust and capable system. I'm rushing out to buy the add on pack, so I can polish the edge better. I have a very expensive military knife made with German D2 that has been tempered to a very high tensile strength, it also have serrations and multiple angles. This system sharpened it with zero issues, and it did not remove too much material. I'm no long concerned to sharpen my late father's and grandfathers knives. This is really ideal for folks looking to put a functional razer sharp edge on their knives without wasting the blade material that electric systems tend to do. My large cleaver has never been as sharp, and it took ten passes on each side on each grit level. Outstanding sharpener! Perfect!

There is nothing less than "GREAT!" about this product! It is solid! Well thought out and made. The description is exactly what you get, they are not exaggerating by any means, if anything, they could say more because this is truly a five star item. It can be used by beginners, like me or professionals. It teaches you how to sharpen , the feel and all. I honestly can't say enough about this product. Already, two people I know immediately purchased one after I showed them mine. I just got this thing too!

The only sharpener you will ever (normally) need.

This sharpener is all you will need for a normal domestic sharpening, especially if you buy the accessory kit. It is extremely well designed and can handle everything from razor-sharp pocket knives to kitchen knives (and even some hatchets). You can vary not only the sharpening angle but also the coarseness of the -> diamond <- stones to achieve whatever you want easily. No kidding: it doesn't get better than this!

This the best sharpener for under $50

This is the best sharpener for home or one that can be thrown in a SHTF backpack and you get it for under $50 . It has diamond plates and ceramic rods for sharpening super steels at home or on the go . All around AWESOME sharpener . So easy to use , even a cave man could do it. Lol I own the Ken onion edition worksharp belt system as well as the compact field sharpener and now this one that Ill throw in my truck or one of my back packs . I own ALOT of knives so you can never have enough sharpening my Equiptment to all of them hair popping sharp. I highly reccomemd this setup from the beginner to the advanced user . Best bang for the buck PERIOD!

Very nice sharpener

I've had the field Sharpener by work sharp for a couple years so I got this for the house and it's great. Very easy to use great results quickly. It's not too small or big and it has pretty much all you need in the box except a strop they sell one separately I guess. I love it though.

Work Sharp Guided Knife Sharpener is a hoax !

it works great on cheap carbon knifes but it doesnt sharpen or come close to sharpen a good quality surgical stainless steel knife . spent many hours i give up is doesnt touch or put any kind of edge on good stainless and thats what i bought it for . waste of money except to sharpen cheap kitchen knifes .
