A little small

First, I adore Xero shoes. This is my... fifth pair? I think so. SUCH quality. So healthy for my whole body. Usually very comfortable. This particular pair are maybe sized small? They hurt my toes for the first week or so that I wore them. They are becoming "broken in" and don't hurt as much. It would be so helpful if I could save a changeable size preference on my account (maybe I can and just don't know?) as I wear out the previous shoe to the point I can no longer see what size it was and in the many long months it takes to wear a pair out like that, I have forgotten what it was like to wear them new - if they were the perfect fit or a little small. I otherwise have no complaints about the company or the products. I intend to buy Xero shoes for as long as they ... MoreFirst, I adore Xero shoes. This is my... fifth pair? I think so. SUCH quality. I’ve had the Mesa Trail for about a year now, worn on lots of relatively easy day or overnight hikes. I hadn’t given them a serious workout until recently, so hadn’t yet developed the same 100% faith that I’d had in my previous inov8 trail shoes. Following a multi-day caving trek in the Vietnamese jungle, that has now changed! They held up easily through sharp jagged steep rocky and thick sticky muddy terrain and washed back to looking new without much effort. Love how easily my feet can conform to narrow slots etc. No tearing. No slipping. Feet were very comfortable throughout, despite being wet most of the time. They also dried out really quickly ready to carry on with the rest of our adventures.I’m a size 39. Love the Mesa Trail :-).

I had high hopes for these shoes - they were very comfortable when I tried them on at home. I bought these to replace my Merrell Trail Glove 4 which are the only shoes that are super comfortable for me when working out (their new version 6 is terrible and I couldn't find the version 4 anymore). Anyway - really wanted these Xero Shoes to work out (seemed very similar to Merrell Trail Glove 4) but the very first time I did a walk in these shoes, my feet were hurting and the toes on my left foot started to get numb and tingly - I had to sit at a bench. They are not tight for me at all so the fit just isn't working somehow. Maybe I'll try some insoles?

I’m in love.
3 May 2023

I actually purchased two pair, the trail runners and the hikers. The hikers are great and have a bit more protection from Ricky terrain but I absolutely love the trail runners. I find myself wearing them everywhere not just on the trail. On the trail, they are the best. Light weight and feels like hiking barefoot. I don’t get that ache in my calves from too much weight during a long hike. So disappointed that they are always out of stock. Just an FYI, if your feet are sensitive to rocks know that you will feel them in these shoes. It’s something you get used to after a few miles. I will definitely keep buying these shoes!

Mesa Trail- women’s clearance
21 March 2023

This is my second pair of Mesa Trail shoes; one pair for outside and one pair for inside use. Whether I wear socks or go barefoot I prefer these to my fancy felted slippers. I got a half size larger and that gives me room to expand in hot weather. My only complaint is getting them here to Canada. I know the exchange rate and the shipping and the taxes add to a purchase, but, I must shop from your clearance area when a pair of shoes reduced to $47.99USD becomes $103.77 CAD on my bank statement. Imagine my shock when I bought the first pair at regular price!I’m sorry that by the time the shoes are being discounted, I don’t have the choice in colour combinations, but I will continue to check out your site as your shoes are good to my feet.

Pros and cons

I have always hated shoes and preferred to be barefoot whenever possible. I was willing to sacrifice protection for the comfort of not wearing shoes even while mowing the lawn. When I first put my new Xero shoes on I liked them but didn't love them. Then I found out the insole could be removed. I love these shoes. I don't feel like my feet are being strangled. My balance is better, I can feel changes in the ground below me. My feet don't ache by the end of the day. I no longer want to take my shoes off every chance I get. Best shoes I've ever bought!I do have one complaint about my new Xero shoes. After wearing them for a week, I tried to wear another pair of shoes. It was horrible! They felt heavy, constricting, the arches just felt wrong, and I hated them! Super comfortable and a very good looking shoe. I wish I could give more than 5 stars.
6 January 2023

The Mesa Trail were my second pair of Xero shoes. I absolutely LOVE them. I was amazed at how comfy they are and how cushy they feel even though they aren't heavily padded the way all athletic shoes are these days. I purchased the muddy rose and boy are they cute. I wish they still came in the Brick color..... I LOVE ALL of my Xero shoes. I just wish they made some of the women's athletic shoes in RED!! It's not fair the men get red and women don't - some us have feet too small to order men's sizes.....lol

They work for everything!
1 September 2022

I walk my dog 1.4 miles daily ( concrete sidewalks) ; walk 18 holes golf ( about 7-9000 steps)weekly, stand for 3 hours teaching twice weekly… all in my Mesa Trails and they are perfect for all of it. I will be honest, I have to choke down on my golf club about 1/4 inch to make up for the “heel/sole” of my previous golf shoes —it only took twice taking too much earth /divot to realize I’m now a bit closer to the ball. I love these shoes. I sprayed them with silicone waterproof spray and my feet don’t get wet on course in morning, but they still breathe. My feet feel great— and I was a skeptic because I always wore custom made orthotics in my shoes for plantar fasciitis. I can’t explain it but my feet feel great after wearing these. I dozed up 1/2 as recommended ( I wear 9.5 so ordered a 10… I’ll answer that they “run small” in the survey questions, but just do what they recommend.

Trail running game changer
4 January 2023

I have run on trails in just about everything from completely barefoot, to heavy, highly cushioned, foot couches. The Mesa Trail is hands down the best. I have run with them on mud, ice, sand, snow, wet leaves, pavement, etc. You can feel every twig underfoot without every rock and acorn making you yelp and swear. You get tons of traction while still getting to feel how mud feels different from dirt. It's easy to forget you are even wearing them until you don't fall in a giant mud puddle or make it through a wild blackberry patch in one piece. I have already worn them for a ten mile run without the inserts and my feet feel great!

Very Disappointed After All The Hype
16 May 2022

It's been 4 months since I started my barefoot journey, and I love barefoot shoes. I trust myself in this process, as I've read blogs, articles, and watched countless vlogs about the process. Xero Shoes are extremely popular in the barefoot realm, so I thought I'd invest in them for backpacking.I took these on a 45 mile hike and my achilles tendon (right foot/leg) was SCREAMING at me after a 16 mile day. Granted, I pushed it on the miles, but there's more to this:I healed after a week. Pretty good, right? Well, yes, but as soon as I put these Xero Shoes back on, my ankle/heel hurt instantly. This tells me that it's a shoe-problem, not a me-problem, since my feet are perfectly fine in my day-to-day shoes (Tanuki by Wilding) with less padding.1.5 months after my ... MoreIt's been 4 months since I started my barefoot journey, and I love barefoot shoes. I'm hoping to try a different style of Xero Shoes from the real site versus REI to take advantage of warranty/customer support. Overall, very disappointed with this.
