Yamaha Revstar Element RSE20L Left-Hand Electric Guitar (Swift Blue)
Solid Body by Yamaha. Details: Revstar II refines the look, sound, and feel of Yamaha’s original Revstar guitar series. The left-handed RSE20L is available in two café racer-inspired finishes and a chambered body developed using Yamaha’s exclusive Acoustic Design process to enhance tone, reduce weight, and ensure optimal balance. Dual Alnico V humbucking pickups deliver a powerful sound with a warm midrange. A push/pull Dry Switch high-pass filter built into the Tone knob provides more prominent highs and tighter bass without the decreased volume and added hum of coil-splitting. The left-handed RSE20L features two café racer-inspired finish options and a chambered body designed to enhance tone, lower weight and optimize balance without sacrificing resonance. Dual Alnico V humbuckers combined with a push/pull Dry Switch high-pass filter provide a diverse range of powerful tones.

This is a very nice guitar. Although I'm not a great player, I have 25 other guitars with which to compare this one. That's not to brag, but I'm old :) and kind of a guitar nerd. The neck is fast and has a satin finish. I like the pickup tones and find the "focus" switch to be effective on the element. The top instrument in my current collection is the Revstar Standard with P90's. This guitar comes in as a close second to that one.

I'm a barely intermediate level guitarist having played now for just over 3 years and purchased this guitar just over a month h ago.Out of the box this guitar was a beauty to play and the set up was just right. The build quality is excellent and the chambered body not only keeps the weight down but contributes to the sound coming off the guitar. Though there are only 3 pick up positions compared to the more expensive versions having 5, there is enough there to give plenty to play with, particularly when you add in the dry switch (in reality a low pass filter). In short, a great entry / intermediate level guitar.

A very nice looking and sounding guitar. There was a very high 3rd fret that I had to fix. It was so bad that the notes at the first and second frets were choked off and did not sound clearly. There is no excuse for this level of lack of QC on a guitar of this price. All other frets were fine as was intonation. Frets were smooth and polished. The neck is easy to play and flatter than a vintage neck. The matte finish on the back of the neck is a nice touch. The finish is a deep burgundy, but it has more violet in it on the picture on the website. In any event, it's a perfect finish. Weight is about 8.5 lbs. The sound of the pickups has more treble and sparkle than most humbuckers. Overall, the sound is rich and full. Aside from the QC issue noted above, the Revstar ... Having said the preceding, the overall quality and out of the box playability are significantly above the typical Epiphone or Squier guitars in this price range.

Having worked at GC for 6 or so years, it was always known that Yamahas QControl was an industry standard. Monitors, Live Audio, Keystations, even their entry level acoustics like the F335...just impossible to find a guitar at that price point that rivaled that quality consistently. This Revstar is NO different; I've at least 10 guitars and this has not left my hands since it arrived. Perfect intonation, excellent set up, and the specs are out of this world for the money. Plus it's balance is world class (no neck dipping) and unplugged it is astonishingly loud...always the sign of a great guitar off the bat. buy this.
After pulling several guitars off the wall at a local Sam Ash this RSE20 captured my attention. It blew all others in its price range away. The frets were polished and shiny with no buzz up and down the neck. The tone was nice and warm and embodies all styles of music. I play mostly blues and it fits the bill there as well. Because this model is so well made I will consider the higher end models. Thanks Yamaha for hitting it out of the park. Great Instrument for beginner and experienced player.
All the many reviews online I watched and read sung the praises of this Revstar element guitar, but the build quality / set up by A strings blew me away, especially at this price point.Yamaha guitars are often overlooked, perhaps not being fashionable, but for those of us not swayed by the rhetoric of other manufacturers and reviewers, and happy to swim against the stream of so - called premium guitar makers, Yamaha guitars are a joy to own. This one now sits proudly alongside my beautiful LL6 acoustic.Be brave, choose function over form. The vintage white is killer too!
RSE20L - although well setup out of the box I was able to lower the action more without any fretbuzz and intonation checked out OK. Very playable guitar with comfortable weight, not as heavy as a Les Paul. Neck feels smooth (with matte paint finish) and fret ends smooth. Already a fav for Blues playing.
The guitar arrived a day earlier than scheduled in an Antiquity brand box. I think that is because PMT reuse packaging. It was well set up and in tune! The guitar itself was flawless. Bearing in mind the price it is an excellent instrument, great neck and decent humbucker pickups. The tuners are Grover style and operate vert smoothly. The strings are Nanoweb Elixir 10's and are well suited to the guitar. The only problem I have is that my son had a similar opinion of the Yamaha and has "borriwed" it. I may have to buy another one!
Overall:Purchased the RSE20 in a pinch to back up an sg with problems and sorry to say the Revstar took its place permanently…sorry Gibson. The nut slots were cut a tad bit high as well as the action was slightly high, but the out of the box setup was very good, fret edges and fretboard was rolled nicely. The pickups took a slight bit of getting used to, but coming from an sg with P90’s the Revstar has a bit more umph to it and the dry settin(high pass filter) was awesome…literally like taking a les Paul to telecaster territory….some may not notice a difference but it’s significant through a tube amp with mild to mid gain…high gain it’s useless. All in all…the Revstar took over the spot of a Gibson that I’ve gigged for 22 years…yep, we’ll see how it holds up to 7 ... Buy one before the price goes up…you won’t regret it.
Overall:I recently purchased this guitar from zZounds and I am really pleased with it! Cosmetically, she is very Beautiful (I bought the Black) and she looks great under the stage lights. The cutaway is extremely comfortable and provides perfect access to the upper frets. The satin neck feels wonderful and plays like butter. in chambered body is nice and light and very well balanced when hanging on the strap. She weights around 7.7 pounds and compared to my Lespaul, I can hardly tell that I just played 4 or 5 hours with her hanging on my neck. I gave her 4.5 stars only because the color choices for Leftys are limited (i love the Black) but I want to be as honest as possible. So, you get all this for a great price so what do you have to lose? Give her a test drive! Thanks Yamaha zZounds for all that you guys do!
