Bought this new 4K compatible receiver to replace an old outdated 3D Yamaha receiver. Opted to go with this one as we had had many years of excellent service from the previous model. This new one was easy to set up, a must for a non techie 59 year old. The sound quality is very good but more importantly it is allowing us to enjoy the full advantages of a 4K TV and DVD player.

Great price and good sound and video. Some very interesting digital processing choices. My issue is: the video HDMI and Component are totally separate so component in goes to component out and HDMI in goes to HDMI out. To get my Ninteno Wii to work with my HDMI projector I need a separate video sound converter to HDMI. A built in video converter makes this much easier and if a receiver with that was available in this price range buy that.

Good basic receiver with easy setup. One thing I love is that I can change the name of the inputs as displayed, eg, to Apple TV, and so now won't have to guess which one of HDMI inputs I'm selecting. Also, can boost dialogue audio level which is great if you are getting a bit on in years ;) . Remote has nice sized buttons, and not too many of them. On-screen controls are brilliant, easy to navigate. At the price, it's hard to beat. Haven't tried the bluetooth input, which may be useful in a party situation.

One of my best eBay purchases. This unit has certainly made life easier and better since upgrading from a much older HiFi that was constantly in need of repairs. Has all required connectivity including multiple HDMI ins and out to TV, Bluetooth receive and transmit, Coaxial and Optical digital audio, RCA/stereo audio, USB, Subwoofer, AM/FM receiver. I have two PVRs (DVD/HDs) a Telstra TV and a HiFi CD player connected, with 5.1 speaker sound. Video is 4K capable out to TV. Is a standard (larger style) footprint - exactly what I wanted to replace my older HiFi. Plenty of power to annoy neighbours and give great audio listening pleasure. But I'm certainly pleased I took the leap - life changing!
This great value receiver s perfect for our medium sized room with a centre speaker, left and right and subwoofer. I love the simple set up and the way it balances the sound. Bluetooth and integration with our Smart TV is perfect I should have bought one years ago!
If you are looking for a Quality, High End Reciever that has all the features to create a theatre experience in your home or play music through built in bluetooth through all speakers in Stereo Mode. This is a great option. Add your own speakers and use the YAMO microphone to auto calibrate your speakers for the best sound without having to spend half a day tweaking the settings. The system is very easy to use, with on screen display on your TV through HDMI it is easy to get it up and running. It took around 5 mins and could play radio, the blu ray player, and even the TV sound through ARC. Easy as and Sounds Great!
for an entry amplifier, it does an amazing job. I've "Down graded" from an older Harmon Kardon amp due to needing 4k pass through. Was surprised to hear that the little Yamaha amp breathed new life to my old B&W 602s, the highs are clearer while the mid bass is supremely punchier. Supremely happy with this purchase which also shipped very quickly in a xmas period!only downside I have found is that the xbox one X fails to acknowledge the amp as surround sound capable in e-arc mode(Tv does) amd if I plug the Xbox into the amp direct the TV doesn't handshake for HDR content. I'm using a premium 48gbps cable which should be enough for 8k60 so plenty of bandwidth. It seems to a common complaint about this amp with xbox. Other than that its freaking awesome value!
We recently purchased this receiver to replace a 30 years old, similar Yamaha 5.1 amplifier, though without the modern features or a receiver. The external design of the new amplifier really hasn't changed that much, a large, black, solid feeling, unpretentious metal box, which we like. Clarity of sound across the frequency range is just as good, or perhaps better that the old amplifier, driving our KEF front and back speakers, JBL centre speaker, and 18" home made, amplified subwoofer, all with more than enough power to shake the room. HDMI connections and direct control by the TV remote are brilliant (e.g. amplifier turns on from standby with the TV and volume with on screen display is via the TV remote). We haven't yet hooked up the supplied antennas (FM and AM) ... MoreWe recently purchased this receiver to replace a 30 years old, similar Yamaha 5.1 amplifier, though without the modern features or a receiver. HDMI connections and direct control by the TV remote are brilliant (e.g. amplifier turns on from standby with the TV and volume with on screen display is via the TV remote). We haven't yet hooked up the supplied antennas (FM and AM) properly to test the receiver, or tried some of the newer features, like the automatic, intelligent speaker setup, which uses a special microphone that's in the box. In summary, so far we are more than happy with the unit, which was great value for money, particularly at the discount price from Harvey Norman.
This amp is an ideal first home theatre receiver. It's easy to setup and use and has just enough power for a smaller room. I am running my own quality 100w 8 ohm speakers and a 6 ohm 80w Yamaha centre speaker. The sound is quite good. I mainly bought this amp for the ability to do Yamaha Silent Cinema through my headphones. It does a fair job of creating surround effects in a set of (good quality) headphones. Iam using Beyerdynamics 990s. I am very happy with the results for the money it cost.
