I purchased this piano for my 16 year-old who has been playing the piano for a few years. It was a nice upgrade from her weighted keyboard she used prior. She is at an intermediate level and has room to grow on it.The color is so pretty and if fits perfectly in her bedroom. I took her to several music stores and she fell in love with this one. It sounds as close to an acoustic piano that you can get with a digital one. The hammer action ivory keys are what made her choose this one. It has a really nice feel to it when playing. She's been using it for a few weeks now and she doesn't have any complaints. I've heard this type of piano can become damaged via shipping, so we chose to order online and pick-up @ Sam Ash. Pros: Beautiful rosewood construction that would fit very nicely into any modern living room decor. Satisfactory key-action for drill exercises. Sound quality through headphones is good.Cons: Graded-hammer 3 key-action not as sensitive as I hoped, limiting the expressivity of your music. Speakers sound digital - the optimizer technology that is supposed to mimic the feeling of playing an acoustic piano doesn't really work imo. Still, I found it more authentic than the Roland fp90x or Korg G1 air. If you are a picky experienced pianist, then this piano alone would not completely satisfy your piano-playing needs. But it can help you maintain your finger dexterity if you have practical limitations to why you are not getting an acoustic piano. Back into piano after many years. We (my wife and I) wanted an instrument that was always in tune and easy to move around but had excellent sound quality and a grand action. This piano is that and more. We are very happy with our purchase. It exceeded our expectations.

I really like this piano. I think it's a great choice for beginners due the quality sound and construction. The synthetic ivory keys on the YDP-163 feel great and definitely feel nicer than the YDP-143 due to the 143 keys being plastic. If you are a beginner or even advanced and want a really affordable piano with a great sound and quality build this is a great choice. The only note I should make is that if you are looking to record often, this piano may not be your best choice as it does not have any outputs other that 2 headphones outs. It does record internally and saves the song as a MIDI file that you can then transfer to a computer via a USB port but your traditional recording options are very limited. I have not tried connecting to a DAW via the USB yet so I ... MoreI really like this piano. I think it's a great choice for beginners due the quality sound and construction. Always wanted to play by ear and your instrument with Piano For All is making it a reality for me!
My daughter love this piano and her technique drastically improved since we got it. Very happy with it. Awesome sound, great key feeling and great construction quality.
Great product and quality. Weighted keys are great. Sound is more than satisfactory. Compact size and minimalistic design goes well with almost any interior.
Music quality is great, both on the headset and speakers. Unfortunately keys are plastic and you can immediately tell the difference. Actions are too soft and do not have any inertia, making it feel significantly different than an acoustic piano. However, it is a good product for the price range.
It is for personal pleasure. We've never been very good at the piano, and after not playing for several (many) years, it is nice to have it here. Even my wife has started playing on it again too!
First thing first, I am far from being professional, so many of these are just my personal opinion. Also in addition this is my first digital piano, and I've been playing on upright piano for more than 8 years. So no time for bsThings that I like:1. very realistic keyboard action, note: you can definitely tell the difference between this and a proper mechanical keyboard, but again this is a lot cheaper than most upright piano.2. Occupies small amount of space and can be moved easily (2 person job but easily doable without a team of professional)3. Inexpensive when comparing to most upright piano, and close to 0 maintenance costs (not sure how long those keyboards are going to lasts, but definitely long enough for me)4. Overall good quality and sturdy ... MoreFirst thing first, I am far from being professional, so many of these are just my personal opinion. Overall good quality and sturdy construction5. It has 2 headphone jacks so that you can plug in a headphone to play at night without disturbing anyoneThings that I don't like:1. The speakers, I really didn't expect much out of them anyway, they sounds alright but definitely get your own speakers if you can.2. The included bench seat, pretty small and isn't adjustable for heightSo in conclusion this is one of the better choice for beginners/more advanced players who are looking for a 'cheap' but somewhat decent piano. Is it going to replace even the cheapest upright piano you can find? I doubt, but in many cases I would argue this is a better choice.
