Perfect little pack if you're just repotting a couple of indoor orchids. I found that the mix had a good blend of soil to bark. My orchid is looking quite contented in its new soil. So far, no issues with gnats out of this either (although I tend to always treat new soil from Bunnings with a neem oil solution once I've potted the plant cos gnats often abound!)

More like soil than orchid bark mix. Retains too much water and causes root rot.

Was rather suprised the mix didnt contain Perlite. Left in a sealed container to find full of fungus gnats...
Should have listened to the reviews. Contains fungus gnats. Don't buy. Now both of my orchids and my mum's orchid that I also repotted with this mix all have fungus gnats.
I ignored some other recent reviews, thinking if it was a bad batch it would be out of circulation by now. Not at all the case, this was absolutely more like the texture of typical potting mix with NOTHING coarse or "bark" like about it (I'm tempted instead to just grab a few handfuls of pineback mulch from the front garden instead for my orchid).As it was relatively inexpensive I will just use it to repot other indoor plants, but would not recommend for an orchid as it is more akin to soil.
No bark or anything that allows water to flow. Just soil. Disappointed, now I have to go buy bark.
I remember last year when this actually had bark in it. Each time I purchase, there are less and less whole pieces of bark and more broken pieces - so broken it's almost like just soil in the bag. Soil with a few whole nuggets of bark. Which means orchid roots get suffocated and it is a magnet for fungus gnats. Speaking of which, you cannot just use a little bit and save the rest as you will have an infestation of gnats within a few months due to lack of aeration and moisture buildup.
I don't know if I got a bad batch or what, but it was closer to soil. I mix orchid bark through most of my potting mix and all of the plants that ended up with this mix in them ended up with an array of fungal issues, including some of my quite expensive plants. The ones I used Scotts orchid bark in are all fine.In short, I bought it because it was on special at my local Bunnings and I learned my lesson the hard way because it seems I'm out a few hundreds dollars in plants because of this awful stuff. Shocking. Absolutely one of the worst things that's ever happened to my plants. Don't touch it.
My Hoya absolutely love this and has thrived and grown more leaves.
