Yonex Astrox 100 ZZ Badminton Racket (Kurenai)(3UG5)(Unstrung)
The Yonex Astrox 100 ZZ 4U5 is a pro level badminton racket endorsed by Akane Yamaguchi the prodigy player from Japan. It is designed for advanced level of play, specifically for players seeking immediate power enhancement to constantly outmatch opponents with maximum offence and aggressive approach to the game. This head heavy frame has been made of Namd graphite which improves the bonding of the fibres to improve flex and subsequently the energy transfer from the string bed to the shuttle for a spectacular shot power. Furthermore, the frame ensures greater vibration and noise attenuation thanks to the dampening properties of the Black Micro Core technology. The racquet offers a much stiffer feel and the isometric head produces a larger sweet spot for more consistency and accurate power, whereas the Nanometric material allows for using a thinner beam to establish a vastly improved striking speed. The Astrox 100ZZ arrives pre-strung with the BG65Ti string.

THE SPECIFICATION SAYS THAT THIS RACKET IS EXTRA STIFF. IN MY OPINION IT IS FALSE , MORE LIKE MEDIUM STIFF THAN STIFF EVEN. IF YOU STRING YOURSELF WHEN YOU PULL THE HORIZONTAL STRING ON THE TOP THIRD OF THE RACKET HEAD THE FRAME MOVES TOWARD THE PULL.THIS RACKET IS SUSPECT FOR CRACKS!

I bought this unstrung, as I needed to have this shipped across Canada. I strung it with exbolt 65 strings, and absolutely love it! It is a wee bit head heavy, though I have adjusted to it. I was using a Victor Hypernano X800 LTD Control prior, and this is remarkably different. Crisper, cleaner shots.

Easy to use a mishit as the excuse for a string to break. My son used the racket for 10 minutes and went to hit the shuttlecock and two strings broke. Very discouraging after how much we paid with the extra batman print. Had to repeatedly call so that I could be told the best they could do was give me an instore credit and not a refund for the string and install. Now i will have to pay shipping again so that I can use the credit. My son has played for several years with no issues with rackets of all caliber and string tension.

Used to play a lot during my highschool years (That was 30y ago) started playing again lately, with my 30y old racket... Decided i could invest some money in a great racket and spoil myself a bit. This is where my new Astrox 100ZZ comes in play ! I can't judge stiffness, lightness or any other specific caracteristic you might find important (having no point of reference besides my old one). The Astrox 100zz feels like i'm a Jedi weaving a lightsaber... My mind feels like i'm 16 again jumping all over the court like a madman. Not an expert reviewer, hope this helps ! All I can say is it's the best racket i ever owned !
The racket feels solid but also very good quality. It feels light and although is stiff when doing defence and net play it also feels almost flexible when doing rear court smashes etc. Its just a very good balanced racket. I think any intermediate player upwards will really appreciate this. Looks good too, especially with orange strings!
This was my second 100ZZ Personally I find it a very enjoyable racket to use, the 4U version is especially good, with excellent all round capabilities. I would class my standard as advanced.Using this has been a very enjoyable experiance indeed. If you have an attack focused play style biut want great contorl as well then use the Aerobite strings, I use the Aerobite boost and its a superb match to the racket.BadmintonH HQ did have some unforseen issues in getting the racket to me (had to wait for stringin) but they were excellent in communicating what was happening so I had no concerns, they also offered alternative delivery options but ultimately I was happy to wait
I actually went into the store to look at rackets before buying. The staff were knowledgeable and helpful. Obviously looking at the rackets unstrung in store but was useful to judge weight and flex etc. In person and get advice from staff. Ended up ordering this racket as its head heavy and attacking but not necessarily the most head heavy. Meaning its versatile. On court I have found its great at the back plenty of power with ease, but is still quick and agile enough to be good mid and front court. Might be better rackets for pure power but for all round play with a focus on power it's great. I had it strung with the BG80 power in Orange at 26lbs. Plays really well! And although it's not massively important the orange strings look fantastic with this racket. Will ... MoreI actually went into the store to look at rackets before buying. But 26 lbs is likley to be perfect, don't get drawn into top tension nonsense we aren't all world class players.
I changed from Astrox 99 play and my shots are so much more controlled even with the same string and tension. Much better drives and defense. Less stress on the shoulders. And my shuttle placement has never been better! Love it!
