Yves Saint Laurent Black Opium is a sweet, gourmand, intense fragrance, very sexy and seductive. The aroma makes me think of a Parisian pastry shop, in the morning, with a hot cup of intense dark coffee and a croissant aside. The fragrance smells to me like a coffee with nutmeg, chocolate and vanilla topping. It is sweet, gourmand and you can almost fell the taste of hot coffee on the tip of the tongue. Smells amazing . I love the notes of coffee, it’s great for day or night wear and I always get compliments when I’m wearing it, I love all different perfumes but this is definitely one of my favourites. It’s not cheap but it’s very good quality and the smell lasts all day. I love the bottle too it’s really pretty and it sprays out a nice even mist. There are several sizes to chose from but I usually buy the 100ml as it’s best value for money. It seems to diffuse into my skin really nicely as a small amount of the perfume leaves a lovely long lasting aroma with a strong but not overpowering scent. It’s true to say perfumes don’t need to be too heavy to have the perfect sillage!

Black Opium by YSL is so overhyped and overrated. It is a spicy-sweet perfume. There are very nice floral notes in it that are similar to other YSL perfumes. But the notes that stand out the most are pink pepper and vanilla. I really like the florals in it, but vanilla is way too strong and makes it overly sweet. I personally think that any perfume that has vanilla as a dominant scent is basic and easy made. The lasting power of this perfume is weak, only 2-3 hours, and the projection is medium. Almost every young adult woman uses this perfume, so it's not original. Besides all that, it will be a good blind present for a teenager or somebody in their early 20s.

I received this sample of Black Opium by Yves Saint Laurent and fell in love with this incredible fragrance! Warm and sexy scent. This oriental spicy fragrance has a blend of coffee, pink pepper, orange blossom, jasmine, vanilla, patchouli, and cedar notes. Gives off a very seductive, romantic aroma while wrapping you in the most divine luxury fragrance. This is such an attractive smell and not too powerful at all. A little spray goes a long way and lasts HOURS!! This is a great scent for fall and can take you right into winter. I will be purchasing a full-size bottle of this fragrance when this one runs out. My favourite all time fragrance

Beautiful fragrance which I have worn for decades. I still prefer the original Opium though (YSL changed the fragrance slightly a few years ago) but even so it still remains my favourite. A warm oriental fragrance which lasts for hours. I wear it everyday though I can see why some people would say this too heavy for daytime nor is it a summer fragrance. Nonetheless I wouldn’t wear anything else as it brings back so many memories and I do get compliments on how lovely it smells.Always purchase from Debenhams as they seem to offer the best price often with free delivery.

Opium Girl Since 1982

I love this perfume and wear no other! It is so “my scent“ that when my daughter Jodi was in Baltimore, she smelled someone walking by with opium on and it made her homesick for me. People have tried to get me to switch to other perfumes, but the original is the best! I am going to try the green opium green and opium red to see what the differences are. I also have the black opium. I also layer my opium with the silk body lotion. I still use the body powder that I was able to buy on eBay however, I don’t use that quite as much. If you like the woodsy scent, I strongly, strongly recommend that you purchase opium. You will not be disappointed!
