It will take a heck of a boot to outdo my 1994 Sundowners, but so far I could not be happier. My all-leather, made in Italy Zamberlan Trail Lites are great! Very comfortable! Nice looking! And, the toe box is big enough to not aggregate my bunion. My first pair from a couple years ago were terrific, so ordered another pair mid 2019. On a trip to Tuscany, the right boot was causing incredible pain on my outer right toe area. Checking, I found that the gore liner would wrinkle up, creating folds of fabric to rub against my foot. The left boot remained smooth. I later checked my Scarpas and La Sportivas and found the gore liner was smooth in the toe areas. I notified Zamberlan as soon as I returned home and they had me ship them back. Good looking boot made in Italy. Fairly stiff sole suggests they will work for off track adventures but at the same time they are light and adaptable enough to work as casual wear with a pair of jeans. Sizing was correct. Insoles a bit cheap but good enough for a few months depending how hard they are used. Only concerns are how water resistant the leather will be as it feels like it will soak up water. And the eyelets are not exactly symmetrical on both boots -which raises a quality control question. Still, for the price, look and fit I am happy so far.

Bought these in the spring to break in for an 8-day fall backpacking trip on the Kumano Kodo. Didn't notice the boots at all on the hike. Light, waterproof, grippy, took a pretty good beating and still feel comfy and look almost new. Good support throughout and we were out of the gate between 500-800 meters up and then down every day. The toe box is roomy and it's a good thing because I was getting hammered on the downhills. Normally I feel I wouldn't have been bothered but I did something to my left knee early on which inclined me to accommodate and this meant putting constant repeated pressure on my left front lateral every second step down. I bought a pair, wore them once in the house and then on the second wear a D-ring completely separated from the shoe.Returned them immediately after (less than a week later) and the Anaconda store manager advised I’d have to go through the warranty process and come back in a few days after they’ve been assessed. I pushed for a replacement under Australian Consumer Law and eventually got one.I didn’t leave the store without giving a firm tug at the laces and the same thing happened on another pair.Must be a bad batch. Unfortunate as I really wanted to like these. I got a full refund and shopped elsewhere after such a poor customer experience. I got a pair of Scarpa Terras which I LOVE.
I love that the uppers are formed from a single piece of leather, including the tongue, that wraps around to the heel. Makes for a smooth boot that is very comfortable, doesn't leak and is easy to clean. I bought these about 6 months ago and have put them to the test. They performed exceptional on steep climber/fisherman paths and cross country travel in the Cascades while carrying a 30 lb pack. They fit so well that my heel doesn't slip on the ascent and my toes don't jam on the descent.

I also wanted a lighter weight boot for taking overseas to save a little on weight. These boots fit the bill perfectly. I tested them out in Colorado on several hikes in RMNP and near Denver before heading off to the Alps doing 7-10 mile per day hikes with 2-3000 ft elevation gains and sometimes the same on the downhills (and carrying only my camera backpack that weighs 20-30 lbs). The trails were generally rocky and rugged and the hiking was tough but these boots stood up to it nicely. They look a little beaten up after 2 weeks of that hiking but they are fully intact with no signs of splitting or stitching coming apart. I held off on this review until I could be sure of the boot because I read some reviews that complained of the Vibram soles becoming detached. I had no such issue. My problem now is ... AKUs or Zamberlans?
LOVE these boots! I wanted a light hiking boot that is well made and versatile. If it's cold, I like a thick wool sock. When it's warm, I want them to fit right with a thin cotton sock. Holy cow, these are awesome! The natural fit of the boot is fantastic, but the adjustability is second to none. In both cases, they fit my foot like a glove. Also, the build quality is amazing. I was considering Merrels, Kenetrek, Lowas and Oboz as well. These were clearly the best.
I am totally in love with my Vioz GTX Zamberlain boots (for winter hiking) so I thought I would give these lighter boots a try for warmer seasons. At first they were a little tight against my Achilles (there is horizontal seam) and that had me worried, but after wearing them for a while that stretched out and I no longer noticed it. But I'm still not loving them. Not quite the perfect fit that I got from my Vioz GTX's. Something about the toe box and the base of the tongue just feels weird. I bought a pair of Oboz at the same time and I'm like the Oboz better as a light summer hiking boot. Now I'm just using these as a work boot.
These are the second pair of the same boots that I have purchased. I am still wearing the first pair, but they are getting worn out after 5 full hunting seasons, archery and rifle. They only took 3-4 days of wear in to become very comfortable. I would highly recommend these to anyone wanting a great long lasting, waterproof hunting/hiking boot.
