Awesome stove with great heat control

This is an awesome camp stove. I considered all options and ended up buying a Zempire after chatting with staff in store and couldn’t be happier. The snowy’s team told me the Zempire was one of the better options with heat control and I couldn’t agree more. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this awesome little stove to anyone - have cooked all things on it from pancakes to pasta and had no issues whatsoever. Also comes with a lengthy gas hose which sounds trivial but when your camping is an important factor. Built in toaster really great too. Another great Zempire product and another great recommendation by the team at Snowy’s. Thanks guys!

We’ve been needing to replace our old Coleman camp stove. I wanted a higher output stove, as our Coleman took f o r e v e r to boil a pot of water. The higher output stoves were all pretty expensive. I saw this one on sale at Labor Day and decided to give it a try. Never heard of the Zempire brand, but It was reasonably priced, and I love that it has the grill built in so you can prepare your entire meal at once. Very handy!! Great performance, this stove did not disappoint. Looking forward to actually taking it camping soon!

Far from perfect - quality control is bad.

Size is spot on - I firstly bought this because it would fit at the bottom of my boot ( spare wheel hole). However, the cons exceed the pros: Pros: 1. Can Boil water pretty quick. 2. The grill mode is nice. 3. Can fit relatively large pans. 4. The windbreak works. Cons: 1. Flow control is non existent. The knobs pretty much only reduce from super high to high flow. Moving them to the end is the same as moving a little from the maximum flow. We were very disappointed since we also bought this given the Coleman knightflame suffer from the same problem. Looks like it's because the hose do not have the flow control piece. This is particular worse for the grill mode (no control at all). 2. As above - consumption is high. 3. Gas hose is too small and apparently you can't ... MoreSize is spot on - I firstly bought this because it would fit at the bottom of my boot ( spare wheel hole). Quality control is bad.The flint/lit mechanism for the right burner was not working since the first use. The grill one also fails constantly. All in all, do not leave for camping without your matches.

Generally very good
1 January 2023

Have used this for about a week now and it's generally very good. Compact, sturdy, and easy to use. Couple of things that are less than ideal is that it isn't compatible with swap and go gas bottles, so you need an adaptor (easy enough fix, but did require one extra trip to bunnings). Also it's pretty tricky to turn down to a low flame without it extinguishing, but reckon I'm getting the hang of it. All in all, pretty happy!

Good choice if you want that grill!

I bought this for the grill option on my recent family camping trip and within limitations, I am very happy.Like most gas stoves of this type, it is hard to turn it low or get much control. I added a heat diffuser to resolve this; they should be in every kit! The griller area is small but did a good job making melted cheese on toast. I also had to get an adaptor to connect the included hose to a gas bottle.I do note the clips holding the lid down were uncomfortably stiff and tight. Also, there is no easy way to lock the grill tray in place for travel, meaning it will bang and rattle terribly unless you add some packing. (A couple of dish towels worked tho.)It was easy to clean after use.Overall, if you want the grill option, I recommend. Great stove - does what it should!

I did a lot of research on stoves and wanted something with a few features but without spending too much. Build quality: I think it is on par with other popular stoves; not amazing but fair for the price. It is pretty light-weight and if it was made of more durable materials it might be heavier. Boiling 1 litre water: water temp 23c, outdoor ambient temp 22c, light wind, 4 mins to boil on highest setting (Jetboil - 3mins, 15secs as a rough comparison). Cooking 6 sausages: In a ceramic Campfire frypan, took 17 mins, turning every 3 mins on the lowest setting - this is the same as on our domestic Smeg stove. Other notes: Grill is not fancy in its design but works well - I could see uneven ground being annoying as someone else brought up. Gas tubing length was fine to reach from stove to a 2 kilo Gasmate canister on the ground from the height of an ordinary camp table. No other connections required for the Gasmate canister - easy to connect out of the box. I agree with other reviewers that the dials are dedicated mostly to the high setting. However, having worked for an appliance company, getting the gradation and variance of dials to be highly accurate costs $$$ so that is one of the compromises with this stove. You do get super fast boiling time and that is why I chose this stove because who wants to wait around for a cup of coffee. All in all, good purchase, time will tell whether it lasts beyond warranty well (as it should).

Hmmm

There's nothing wrong with the unit, but I wouldn't say it gets a tonne of stuff right, either, and I find myself wondering if the cheaper gasmate wouldn't have been a better buy ultimately. Pros: + Ignited quite easily + Puts out a lot of heat + I was skeptical that the grill would be useful, it seems small and too far from the tray, but actually it worked okay. Cons - Puts out a lot of heat. Way, way to much heat, anything more that the first 7mm on the dials was basically an inferno, it was too much, really, and why are the dials so poorly measured? If you got past about 1/5th turn they are basically on full ball the rest of the time - Grill tray is much smaller than the under grill area, so you have to pay attention to ensure it is aligned with the hot area - ... MoreThere's nothing wrong with the unit, but I wouldn't say it gets a tonne of stuff right, either, and I find myself wondering if the cheaper gasmate wouldn't have been a better buy ultimately. If you got past about 1/5th turn they are basically on full ball the rest of the time - Grill tray is much smaller than the under grill area, so you have to pay attention to ensure it is aligned with the hot area - Grill handles absolutely useless, too short, and the angle they hook on does not work well when the grill tray is under. - Tray is small so it rattles around and falls out - No carry bag - Despite comments here from Snowys staff, this unit *does* require an adaptor for use with the overwhelming majority of gas canisters here in Aus (eg swap n go), so that's another twenty bucks you need to factor in to price. Most of those cons might seem nit-picky - after all the thing gets hot and cooks food no problems - and I kind of agree which is why I gave it three stars and not one. But when I'm camping I want something that just works, not something I have to finesse and watch so I don't burn my food.

Love it!
21 September 2022

We have had many campung stoves over the years. I bought this one before 4 of us were heading out for 4 days to a fairly remote camping area. The cooking area is a bit tight, but the ability to control the flame was so far superior to anything i have ever cooked on. I loved it. I tried the broiler but it didnt really produce enough heat for my purpose, especially with 4 adults.

Powerful and great value gas cooker

I bought this because my Dad's Companion Stove carked it after 30+ years of use. I chose the Zempire based on the good reviews and price. It did not disappoint! My friend brought a wok and oil and this was powerful enough to deep fry, even with a wind blowing. I used it to boil water and soup multiple times. Super quick, great heat output. The piezo can take a couple of clicks to ignite though. Only thing I haven't tried yet is the toast maker

Great no fuss sturdy unit that suits the camp kitchen perfectly.Caters for a 30cm grill plate on one side and either another larger cooking pot/pan or the toaster. Adjustable flame from boil to simmer and in between is a must have and this unit has it.I like it’s simplicity and limited ‘plastic fittings’. The stands that double as the closing latches are very practical, nothing to fail (as compared to latches) and gives a traditional look.Easily packs away in purpose built carry bag.Highly recommended.
